I'm also reading Go Ask Alice by Anonymous, heard part of the song in Big Little Lies. Love that show and the soundtrack!

Incredible!
Mike wrote: "Megan wrote: "The Phantom of the Opera"Quite possibly my favorite Iron Maiden song."
It's in my top 5!

I read The Rime of the Ancient Mariner for this prompt because Maiden.

I think I'm going to be reading an ARC that I will be getting called, Tell Me Lies by Carola LoveringTell Me Lies is a Fleetwood Mac song.
I realized after reading A Lot Like Christmas: Stories that it worked for this. Also, it includes a list of book recs, so I can probably find something for that prompt too.

Haha! I came here to post Scaramouche but you did so much better
I read
There are many songs called Can You Keep a Secret?
The Cab, Brother Beyond and even a Barbie movie has a song with this title/lyrics.
Completed 1/28/18
I love True Crime, so I'm gonna just keep going down that road, with Helter Skelter by Vincent Bugliosi for my song lyric book!
Two Little Girls in Blue by Mary Higgins Clark Written by Charles Graham in 1893. Recorded by the group Flowers and Frolic with June Tabor singing in 1976. I had to look that one up. I had no idea it was a song but pone of the characters kept singing it in the book
Would a poem count? The Robert Burns poem "To a Mouse" contains the lines The best-laid schemes o' mice an' men
Gang aft agley,
which the title of Of Mice and Men was taken from.
Would it be okay to use the book Blood Sisters by Jane CorryI found a few songs that have the lyric "blood sister" , the song "Rebel Girl" by the band Bikini kill has a lyric "a sister, always soul sister, blood sisterWould that be OK?
I found that A Court of Thorns and Roses fits this prompt because of "Thorns and Roses" by Syntax - which is a pretty good song too!
Kelsi wrote: "Thunderstruck by Erik Larson is my choice. AC/DC song of life."Good one - I enjoy Erik Larson's writing style
Christophe wrote: "Too bad the wording of the prompt restricts it to songs; I think titles of instrumental pieces should be included. That would be things like Tolstoy's "Kreuzer Sonata", a short story that is used a..."I'm with you on this one @Christophe. Just got a book from the library "Kind of Blue" - I'm a huge Miles Davis fan - unfortunately no lyrics in most of his stuff...
Keeping it simple "Paradise" by Toni Morrison - how many songs use that word in their lyrics? I can name a few...
For those of you out there like me who are struggling with this prompt, lyrics.com has a feature that locates song lyrics for you. For example, I just started typing some of the book titles on my TBR list into the search box and it would tell me if there are any lyrics out there that match. It's kind of reverse engineering the prompt but it worked for me!!https://www.lyrics.com/
I ended up reading Night Shift by Charlaine Harris for this (from the Commodore song of the same name). Also there is a Stephen King version of Night Shift if that's more your style.
I’m doing A Court of Thorns and Roses for the song By Poison/Miley Cyrus ‘ Every Rose Has it’s Thorn’
I found a few books that would fit this prompt. I don't think they've been mentioned in this thread yet.Lucy in the Sky (Beatles)
Johnny Be Good (Chuck Berry)
Baby Be Mine (Michael Jackson)
Chasing Daisy (Willis)
Pictures of Lily (The Who)
These are all by Paige Toon. She seems to like using song titles/lyrics with names in them, so she might have more. These are the ones I recognized. They're chick lit/romance. I'm reading Lucy in the Sky for this prompt because I need some lighter fare than what I have been reading.
I got Carry On by Rainbow Rowell from the library. I was planning on using for the lgbq+ prompt, but every time I see the cover I starting singing, "Carry on Wayward Son...." (by Kansas) so I think I'll switch to this prompt.
I'm going to do Emerald Green. There's a song called "Cold as Stone" by a-ha:Emerald green neon lights above
Sapphire red falls on you below
Cold as stone
And since I stupidly started a trilogy for my Time Travel prompt, now Ruby Red for time travel, Sapphire Blue as my favorite color. and Emerald Green for "next book in a series".
There's a book on sale right now called The Satanic Mechanic which is a line from The Rocky Horror Picture show (Sweet Transvestite) and now, even though I said what I was doing above, I may have to do this one instead!
I found a few more to add to the list;Don’t Speak- No Doubt/ J. L. Brown
Take a Bow- Rihanna/ Elizabeth Eulberg
Nothing Else Matters- Metallica/ by either Leslie DuBois or Sara Boyd.
Even if I am reading “Don’t speak” this has turned into a fun prompt to find song titles & the books they turn out to be.
I read Good as Gone for this one. It fits some other categories though so I may have to move it around if I find another to fill this one later.
Almost Like Being in Love is one of my favorite books (and it would also fit for the LGBTQ+ category). The title comes from a song that was originally written for the musical Brigadoon, which is significant in the novel. For the contemporary romance crowd, Erin McCarthy has a series about musicians where the titles are all from Pat Benatar's song Heartbreaker- Heart Breaker, Dream Maker, Love Taker.
I wonder if "Forever and Always, Lara Jean" by Jenny Han counts? There are several songs by Shania Twain, Taylor Swift and Parachute with the same name.
Cate wrote: "Breakfast at Tiffany's would count, right?"Definitely! And now I have that song stuck in my head!
I am thinking of reading The Gambler by Fyodor Dostoyevsky. It is also a song by Kenny Rodgers. I have that song stuck in my head now. On a train bound from nowhere, I met up with a gambler.
I finished reading Only Child, a new novel. I was going to put it in the category of a book published in 2018, when it occurred to me that there had to be a song called "Only Child." I found three, most notably one by Jackson Browne. I highly recommend the book as long as you can handle the subject matter, which is about a 6-year-old boy's narration of a school shooting and aftermath.
A GR friend just read a book that would work for "song lyrics": Animals Strike Curious Poses - it's a book of essays, sounded interesting, and the title is a lyric in Prince's "When Doves Cry"
A few I've read recently that qualify for this prompt:When I'm Gone by Emily Bleeker, in the lyrics for the Cups song by Anna Kendrick
Where I Belong: A Brook Haven Romance Novella by Charlene Bright, from the song Where I Belong by Building 429
Blood on the Tracks by Barbara Nickless, from the song Blood on the Tracks by The Redemption Song, or from the album Blood on the Tracks by Bob Dylan
Andragel wrote: "Would Heartless work, if it is a one word title?"It does, there are a couple songs with "heartless" in the lyrics, two of which are also titled Heartless (one by Kanye West and one by the Fray). :)
Came across:Baby, I'm Howling for YouIt is also a lyric for "I'm Howlin' for You" by The Black Keys from the album "Brothers" and the lyrics do say: "baby I'm howlin' for you"
For non-fiction readers, the title of a book on life in North Korea "Nothing to Envy" is from a North Korean patriotic song. Well worth the read and was pleasantly surprised to discover it fulfilled this prompt.
There are several songs that have the lyric "loves me not or he loves me not". I'd like to read a book entitled Love Me Not by M.J. Arlidge. Do you all think that would be OK?
Forgive me if someone has already mentioned this one, but I just saw it in the suggested reading list on Overdrive: Every Breath You Take, by Mary Higgins Clark. I can't help but sing the song when I read that title!
Completed this prompt!Book: Fly By Night: World Book Day 2018
