Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Sounds like you should should cancel your weekend plans so you're fit for work next week, Desley.

Good morning.

Drizzled all night, I think. No fireworks, anyway.
Took my kindle to bed really early hoping to finish my book but I fell asleep. As I do.

Hope it doesn't piss down all day. The kids get all squirrelly when it's wet play.

Will Once (willonce) | 3772 comments Good morning all. Taking the Mem to Brighton today. Posh hotel for the night. Good restaurant. Mooch around the boutique shops.

We might have gone to the theatre but tonight's offering is a tribute to the music of Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton. Ah, no thank you.

Everyone have a good one.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12592 comments Morning, had a shocking night sleep, glad it's an easy day at work. If I feel up to it, I'll go do an errand before the food shopping, but food shopping is crucial.

That would be sensible Patti, I don't do sensible, especially not with the work I've done for something we are launching at the fundraiser. We are eating about 5, so can be home early.

Alicia Ehrhardt (aliciabutcherehrhardt) | 4832 comments G'night - it's after 3am here, and I still can't get to sleep. Something keeps twitching. I have fed it some extra calcium and magnesium and a chicken sandwich. Hate these nights.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12592 comments Enjoy Brighton Will, hope you get some sleep Alicia, I fully sympathise as I was still awake at 2am

message 306: by Alicia (new)

Alicia Ehrhardt (aliciabutcherehrhardt) | 4832 comments I think I'm okay, not worried about anything - and the body decides it's a good night to be uncooperative. How are your kitties, Desley? Do they keep you up?

G J (Gaff to my friends) Reilly | 1836 comments Morning all. Took me a while to figure out what was going on, but I've managed to find anyone! Must have been something in the water yesterday, it must have been 2am before I got to sleep, too. Tired one for me today, and Geography, which isn't my strong suit.

message 308: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Morning, each. As a furious sleeper myself (I toss around and kick off covers but I don't half sleep) I feel really sorry for anyone with disturbed sleep. I couldn't cope - though I suppose I'd have to.

Must get some digging done today. The autumn raspberries I ordered a couple of months back have been shipped which means the only partially-dug bed for them must be fnished!

message 309: by Benjamin (new)

Benjamin Appleby-Dean (benjaminappleby-dean) Morning all. I'm no stranger to disturbed sleep either - the various animals all start kicking off from about 5am until someone feeds them.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12592 comments Alicia wrote: "I think I'm okay, not worried about anything - and the body decides it's a good night to be uncooperative. How are your kitties, Desley? Do they keep you up?"

Occasionally I get foster cats that keep me up, these are quite good, Chanel tends to start playing with noisy toys around 6ish, but I quite enjoy walking up to the sound of her playing, Lucy was in a mood with them this morning, caught her on the landing growling at the shut door!!

message 311: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments I don't recall the last time I slept until the alarm. Going to bed at sunset probably doesn't help.

I used to be a real night owl and would happily sleep until noon.

They do say sleep patterns change as we age.

Ahhhhhhhh. Nice cold glass of wine as I wait for the pasta water to boil.
Glad I made the sauce yesterday.

Very Italian weekend round our's. Bought all the fixings for pizza on the way home. Will throw that together tomorrow night.

Lynne (Tigger's Mum) | 4643 comments Good morning, all you with lively animals would love my pup. He’s fabulous. He creeps into our bed and puts his anchor down and it’s impossible to budge him. He doubles his weight and digs in. Husband couldn’t shift him at 3 am. He just looked at us with sad eyes because we were trying to move him. We got the giggles. If he’s left he just sleeps, doesn’t move or snore, he’s lovely.
Just waiting for some baby news but he is improving slightly. Still critical though.

✿Claire✿ (clairelm) | 2602 comments Had the opportunity for a lie in this morning as our first lecture was cancelled, but decided the opportunity to practice for our practical exams was too good to pass up. Four of us were in at the usual time, along with our tutor, so had a really good practice. Everyone else turned up at lunchtime. And now our lecture's been cancelled and everyone else has gone home, except the same four. And yet some complain about not getting practice and things signed off. I really don't understand some people!!
Sorry, that was a bit of a moan! Looking forward to a climb tonight though.
Hope everyone is well :)

Vanessa (aka Dumbo) (vanessaakadumbo) | 8459 comments I got a bit of a surprise when I went out to my garden this morning. My Brugmansia (Angel's Trumpet) has two big flowers on it. The plant's only about a foot tall and the flowers must be 9" or 10" long. Is this unusual?...I thought it's an odd time of year for it to flower.

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments They're going to be stunning when they open! Be sure to get photos, eh?

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12592 comments Well, if I'd had to do a full day, I couldn't have done it, food shopping was hard. Realised on the way home my neighbour had gone to bed, so called at the co-op for tea, as soon as I walked in the door, I realised I was supposed to get money, so nipped to the hole in the wall, only for it to steal my card! Luckily managed to get hold of the bank and will have to borrow money from my neighbour. At least I have food

Glad baby is still improving Lynne

Thank goodness our Bronwyn is only light, as she demands her place in the middle of the No. 4 that you make with your legs! Good news about baby!

Lynne (Tigger's Mum) | 4643 comments Good morning, got to make a birthday cake for our grandson’s 3rd birthday tomorrow. . Having looked at some of the ‘cake art’ on t’internet mine will will be a cake with a toy dinosaur on top. Really artistic.
Baby now has another complication, he’s on pain relief and antibiotics so that’s more tubes, and his mum had had to go back on the ward as she’s not well.

message 319: by Lindsay (new)

Lindsay (kiwi365) | 3672 comments Morning all.

Glad to hear that Lynne, fingers crossed they both get well soon!

Hope you are feeling a little better today Desley, sorry to hear about your card trials. I had the same thing happen to me at a Coop hole in the wall!

Hope everyone has a good day.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12592 comments Morning all, didn't sleep well, might have to leave the fundraiser after a couple of hours to catch mum and kittens. Then hopefully a bit of a relax before going out for tea.

Sorry to hear that baby has had another complication, and that mum isn't too poorly Lynne.

message 321: by Patsy (new)

Patsy Collins | 180 comments Lynne, make the dinosaur 'jump' all over the cake where he's been chasing a pterodactyl (which has escaped) and strew on some malteasers and chocolate buttons as rocks. Flakes as destroyed tree trunks. Maybe a squirt of red icing as lava flow...

If you tell him the story, he'll 'see' the scene.

message 322: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments That's clever, Patsy!

message 323: by Lynne (Tigger's Mum) (last edited Nov 11, 2017 01:59AM) (new)

Lynne (Tigger's Mum) | 4643 comments Thats a good idea Patsy. I’ve got grated chocolate for earth and chocolate fingers to make a stockade effect. I did think raisins for dinosaur poo as small boys seem to love that sort of thing.
I told him yesterday I had a dinosaur in the kitchen when we were on the phone. He went very quiet and then asked if I was OK. I said yes because I’ve put the dinosaur in a box.
He said it must be small. I said no, I’ve got a big box. He giggled. His logic is very good for a nearly three, his imagination is very good so that will please him no end.

message 324: by Patsy (new)

Patsy Collins | 180 comments I didn't think of dinosaur poo! You definitely need that.

This has given me an idea for a story - do you mind if I steal your raisins to go in it?

message 325: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments I'll pop out and get you a bag of raisins if Lynne hasn't enough.

message 326: by Patsy (new)

Patsy Collins | 180 comments Thanks, Patti, but I'm thinking I should go and get myself some chocolate covered ones ... for research purposes you understand. (I confess I have sometimes written particular food into stories, just so I can eat it and tell myself I'm working as I do.)

message 327: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Hope you take the tax deduction!

I think your protagonist is needs champagne. And truffles. And champagne truffles.

message 328: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Afternoon! I've been with the local In Bloomers mossing up rings to make holly wreaths later on - Dec 4th, in fact.

I'm sick of moss!

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12592 comments Well, we only did the first hour or so at the fundraiser before collecting cats, unfortunately kittens didn't like being grabbed and sunk teeth in - by the time I realised, there was a lot of blood! Unfortunately this infection has wiped out my appetite, only just hungry, which isn't good. Only consolation is I'm already on antibiotics! We launched our new appeal at the fair, had a great reaction, am so pleased.

I'm pretty sure by now bleeding is a life hazard with cats. I have cuts all over my left wrist from when one of ours got tangled up in wire earlier in the week.

Patsy Collins | 180 comments Absorbing? *groan*

Apparently we can't claim any food and drink as a tax deduction, unless it's stuff that's bought to sell on. Private jets are OK, but not chocolate.

I've lit the fire in the living room

Lynne (Tigger's Mum) | 4643 comments I lit a little fire to smoke the bleddy pigeons off my chimney.

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments I've got the a/c on.

Having the oven on to cook the pizzas made it boiling in here!

We were invited out to try a new wine bar this evening and we both completely forgot. Oops.

Rosemary (grooving with the Picts) (nosemanny) | 8590 comments Evening all! I've had a good day. Did my first ever life drawing at a 2 hour class at the National Gallery in Embra - really hard work, intense but very good - sold a really big pricey painting (very probably) and just heard that Elder Daughter will be able to come home for Christmas after all.
Think I may indulge myself in a small celebratory dram. :)

message 339: by ✿Claire✿ (new)

✿Claire✿ (clairelm) | 2602 comments Evening everyone. Had a good couple of days, work was really good yesterday, I've passed an observed drive to be a driver for the local blood bikes service (not a biker though!). I've had Narla 6 months (that's flown!). And last night I made it to the top of the back wall at the climbing centre I go to. It's nice and vertical until about halfway up, and then it slopes out, so you're fighting gravity pulling you off the wall as well. Still really thrilled about it but I hurt today!!

Maltesers might also be used as Dinosaur poo!!! :-)

message 341: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments That wall looked really challenging in the photo on Facebook, Claire. I'm very proud of you.

Great news all round, Rosemary!

Grey morning here but they're saying sun later, so that'll be nice.
The trees haven't really started to change yet. We might get a couple of days of colour before the wind strips the trees. That's what usually happens.

My pot of mint is doing really well, I noticed this morning. I should do something with it.

sounds like a really good day, we need them from time to time :-)

Will Once (willonce) | 3772 comments Good morning all. The Mem and I had a fantastic day in Brighton on Friday/ Saturday. The Royal Pavilion is fabulously, if a bit overwhelming. Window shopping in the Lanes was fun. The i360 observation tower gave extensive views over Brighton, the seafront and the South Downs.

The highlight was probably the murmuration of starlings over Brighton pier...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=avutp...

Stunning.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12592 comments Had a lovely night out, it was only pub food, but really nice and because we went early, it was quiet enough to have a proper catch up. They were also doing a gin bar, so I ended up having 2 drinks, including a rhubarb gin and tonic, even though I don't like gin and tonic. Was home for 11. Feel a bit rubbish this morning. Just heard from the rescue, we took about £700 at the Christmas Fair, I was hoping we'd do over £1k, but our new campaign did miles better than I thought possible, so that has made up for it, and I convinced my friends to give me money for the sponsored walk next month when they were suitably drunk  I have a lot of admin work to do, but also a lot of housework, and I am going to have a bath tonight to see if the steam helps my chest and sinuses.

I fully agree Benjamin, have got a shocking amount of scars. Glad everyone had a good day yesterday. Patti, I suggest mojitos for using up mint.

message 346: by Patsy (new)

Patsy Collins | 180 comments I do like a good murmuration.

message 347: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Morning, each! Sunny here, and as close to warm as we're going to get this side of Spring, I reckon.

Mucho cooking today, and if I have time, more digging of what will be the rapsberry beds.

message 348: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Now that's a good idea, Desley. I'll probably use vodka instead of white rum and lemon instead of lime juice.

Hmmmm. I've got homemade lemoncello. Could whack in a bunch of mint and crushed ice...

message 349: by Benjamin (new)

Benjamin Appleby-Dean (benjaminappleby-dean) Morning all! One of the cats has now daringly ventured into a he same room as the new puppy to engage in a staring contest, which I hope means progress

message 350: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth White | 1761 comments Morning everyone.

I too am overwhelmed with moss - in lawn, on fences and pavers -although it hasn't quite got to the point of growing in the (mainly stationery) car window slides yet. At least it's a sunny day today, although more of the wet stuff is forecast for tomorrow.
