M.T. McGuire (mtmcguire) | 8049 comments Janet! Kittens! Awwww.

Desley, I agree with Jim and Alicia Desley, you keep doing interesting stuff you enjoy. I am firmly convinced that misery begets misery and that there are miserable people who are determined to spread their misery to everyone around them. The neighbour did sound like one of these.

Broke my glasses this week … well, to be honest, it was glasses versus lorry and the lorry won. So have discovered that I need to have my eyes tested as I’m due for a test and as they rightly said, there’s no point spending cash on new specs only to have to have new lenses put in at once. So it’s optician’s on Friday and then they’ll send away the frames I have, although I’m going to have another one made too.

So far I seem to be spending money and every time I get a free day some kind of admin shite pops up to fill it. I live in hope that I’ll manage to get a good run at my writing at some point, in the meantime, I’m just grabbing moments here and there. It’s slowly moving on. At least I did a blog post this week. :-)

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12593 comments Evening, Lucy woke me up at 5.10, she decided she had to come upstairs and clean herself on the windowsill, annoyingly I'd left the nail varnishes from last night there (did two shades of pink, but not sure about it, not great at straight lines, even with the guides!), so she kept clinking them! Another nice day, colleague e-mailed asking if I wanted to go for a walk, which we did and had a nice chat. Spoke to my boss about my toe nail surgery, I offered to come in the office the back end of the week after my op, she told me to work from home as long as I need, she'd rather I recovered rather than rush back and make things worse, which was nice to hear. Didn't do my after work walk as I had to drop cat food off, she asked if me and neighbour had made up yet, as she is friendly with her, I didn't want to say that I'm actually happier without her! Then got home and found the neighbours were still without power (noticed an electricity van about 7pm last night, was still there at 10.30), and they had dug up part of the road, so I couldn't get on the street. Lucy asked to go out, saw the state of the road and freaked out! Supposed to be filled in 4 days time.

That is so true Alicia, my neighbour doesn't really have any hobbies, so she fusses over people and they think she's really nice, but they didn't hear all the complaining she did about it, so it certainly doesn't make her happy. Thanks MT, some of it may not be interesting to others, but as long as I'm happy about it, it doesn't really matter. I agree with that sentiment too, and part of the reason I think I feel so free, I'm not being bogged down by someone else being miserable, or insisting I do things I don't really want to do, and stopping me doing things I want to do. I did read your blog post, good luck getting the glasses sorted and hope you find some writing time.

Although I wasn't saying awww at 5 o'clock this morning when Barney came and headbutted me and then sat on me purring. The trouble is he doesn't sit still for long, he starts walking round in circles so I keep getting a faceful of tail - and it is a very fluffy tail.

I have got an audio copy of your books - they are next on my list to listen to.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12593 comments Evening all, another nice day. Just did a little walk at lunch as it was warm, nipped to friends after work to get another dress, this one is perfect, I just need a white strappy top to go under it, and might look at some shoes, as the dress was a bargain at £15. I hate buying shoes though. Just did a little walk to the nature reserve after that, some kids were feeding the geese and a female mallard was getting quite nasty with them, think it must be that mum. On the way back there was mum and ducklings on the opposite bank, the ducklings kept zooming along and lifting themselves up to eat some overhanging greenery, it was so cute. Sis rang earlier, they've booked a hol, but it's 6 days after my toenail surgery, so told her there is a good chance I won't be able to do it, I'm not even going to attempt driving to the office until at least day 7. I said to a friend at work yesterday I bet it would happen like that, but in a way I'm glad, after the messing about with the first one.

Glad it's not just me who gets woken up around 5am by the cat! Lucy mainly does it when she's been sleeping downstairs, the curtains aren't as thick downstairs.

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Hello!
Still gardening, doing various arty/crafty things and even writing. It was the village pie and peas lunch today. Fantastic beef (or mushroom) pies with mushy or garden peas and a suitable gravy. Delish. Then I did 30 lots of washing up!

Quite busy on Facebook as I'm on the admin team for a book group that has 21 thousand members. Keeps me busy!

Alicia Ehrhardt (aliciabutcherehrhardt) | 4834 comments 21K members - wow!

30 lots of washing up? Impressive.

I'd love to see your village - if I ever get well enough. A real English village. With a village lunch. Makes me nostalgic for my Agatha Christie days. It's one thing to have a mental image, another to have the model. Do you have a village green?

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12593 comments Evening, another warm day, computer says it's still 21 now, at 8pm! Went to the shoe shop at lunch, no nice sandals, then popped in one of the charity shops and got a nice white strappy top for under my dress, only cost £1. Then did a little canal walk, saw what seemed like hundreds of fish, mainly small ones. There were a couple of the medium size stripey fish (after googling, they are perch, they had orange on them) that were enjoying the sun, but saw me and went back in the shadows, the fisherman did say that if you could see them, they could see you. None of the large shoals did, either confidence in numbers, or they are too young to know that. Did treat myself to a milkshake from the candle shop, they use ice cream to make it, was very nice. Did a little reserve walk after work, either the goose creche has shrunk, or they look that goose like it's hard to tell them apart from the adults! Did give them a bit of food. Was supposed to have an amazon delivery this pm, they've told me it's been delivered, but no sign of it, they make you wait 24 hours before you can report it, in case it appears. Will knock on some neighbours doors after work tomorrow, couldn't be bothered tonight after doing 9k steps

I always like reading your posts Kath, apart from the fact I'm not as crafty as you, I'd like to live in your village when I retired - although I'm likely to be the person turning up to be fed, rather than the person preparing it! Wow, that's a big facebook group!

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12593 comments Evening, might have had high temps today, but cloudy and muggy, I decided not to go for my lunchtime walk, as it was 24, and I had a face to face meeting for what should have been 2 hours (was about 1.5hours), so didn't think that would be pleasant for colleagues. Typically as I got in the car, it started raining, was quite heavy when I got home, knocked on one of the neighbours, to be handed an Amazon parcel, she assumed I wasn't in and that's why they'd knocked on her door, I told her I was in watching for it! When I got in, she'd put a note through the door, if it hadn't been raining so heavily, we'd have swapped numbers, as I sometimes take parcels in for her. Luckily by the time I fed the cats, it had practically stopped raining, so I went for my canal walk, didn't see much, although I saw the moorhen on the bank, they look completely differently when walking than swimming.

message 16810: by Alicia (new)

Alicia Ehrhardt (aliciabutcherehrhardt) | 4834 comments Moorhen! In person! Hope to some day.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12593 comments Evening, we were supposed to get rain all day, but only seconds of it, but really stuffy, so kind of glad I didn't take my walking boots to work. Did get a compliment from one of the directors over how I organise meetings, so that was nice, it's one of the tasks I hate doing, although easier since covid. Needed fuel, so went to Morrisons for a few bits, spent a fortune, partly because there were so many offers on. Did a quick canal walk after work, not too far, as my foot is quite sore, can't work out if it's swollen due to the heat, or some reaction from being stung by stinging nettles on Mon, as the ones just under my knee on that leg have bruised (don't think I can put arnica cream on though, it says not no broken or irritated skin). still going to hit 7.5k steps though. Not much to see on the walk, as it was so overcast, first time I haven't seen any fish this week. The cows were in the field though, there are normally just black and white cows, but there was a random brown and white one stood in the canal having a drink. Then the moorhen was on the pavement again, they are supposed to be really shy, but that's twice it's just been like 'I'm searching for food and not moving for you', and I obviously stand and wait, although today there were two runners which scared it, although even they got close before it finally moved. Shame it doesn't like the duck and goose food I have.

M.T. McGuire (mtmcguire) | 8049 comments Finally got my eye test and managed to get some similar specs so I put them in to be framed. Only another two weeks to go and then I will have the correct proscription specs again. Can’t wait.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12593 comments Evening, another sunny day, we didn't get the forecast rain, just 3 lots that lasted about 5 mins, so still feels muggy - although we've just had thunder and rain while typing this! Actually, we've just had some hail stone, that's a bit bizarre in June! The second one was weird, it was dry when I went in the shop, and as I opened the door, I could smell rain - luckily I had a coat with me! Went to local market town to get some goodies and see if I could get shoes and a bag, it was a very successful shopping trip, although a tad expensive. Went to factory shop, spotted some lovely silver sandals, then a second pair that were cheaper but not as nice. Had to look all round as you never know, and found some nice trainers with memory foam insoles, so grabbed those. Did stop myself picking up a pair of espadrilles - can't remember the last time I bought more than one pair of shoes, never mind stopping myself buying 3 pairs! Then as I'd done all that and got some stuff from Aldi in just over an hour, I'd call in the garden centre and nosy at the farm shop, then call in their mill shop, see if I could get a bag. Got a nice purple one that's just a tad bigger than I wanted for walking, but will fit drink and kindle, which were my priorities, and only £10. I was then a bit naughty, they had 40% off yankee candles, came home with a few jars. Did a nice canal walk, no wildlife to be seen, but did have two dogs that came up and put their heads in my hand for a fuss! Then forced myself to do some housework before sitting reading for an hour or so.

It is MT, I used to hate doing the same walk over and over, but now I'm fascinated by what I might see! The stretch I do isn't long, but I think you can walk 25 miles along it! Glad you have got some glasses sorted.

M.T. McGuire (mtmcguire) | 8049 comments Sounds like you had a productive day Desley and I totally agree that sometimes, the same walk in a changing environment is almost better than different walks. I love watching how the seasons change, the nature develops. I do the same walk with a friend every week! :-)

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12593 comments And even better, the canal walk and the nature reserve don't require a car! I can walk to the local lake too, during lockdown we walked there, round and back quite often, I've not done it since, keep meaning too although it's heaving at this time of year, might wait till the weather cools off

message 16817: by Alicia (new)

Alicia Ehrhardt (aliciabutcherehrhardt) | 4834 comments Just had a thought. You could wear a body cam, and put two versions up on Youtube (for other people to see your walk): Version #1, Walking with Desley - and Version #2, HIghlights (5 min. or under). You could be a star!

I have a friend online who does this with his motorcycle rides (which I occasionally watch on fast-forward).

Whatever floats your boat.

On a similar subject, Canadians have put walks through their national parks online, so you can use (I believe) Google Earth to walk through the parks by clicking ahead.

I'd still MUCH rather go, but it doesn't seem to be in the cards for now. Too bad they can't add the fresh air part.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12593 comments Evening all, a dry day, I was thinking I'd have to dry my clothes in the house, as while the hole in the street was filled in on Fri, they left the fencing round it, looks like they need to come back and tarmac, but the neighbour I let use my lines moved them to get them (mainly because he wanted to use one, but he got them both). Did a canal walk, trying out my new trainers, feet were slightly sore when I got back, but I had done 5k steps on the first use! No real wildlife, although had a husky walk up and say hello by putting his face in my hand, but did see two birds doing a nice display, they are either swifts or swallows, maybe I should buy a bird book so I can work out what I'm seeing! Then another half hearted attempt at housework, sitting on the sofa was much more appealing. Then I finished my book, which meant the series is finished and had the dilemma of what to read for the rest of the month, tried to stick with my theme of a series.

That sounds quite scary Alicia! I would be interested in looking at national parks through something like google earth though, think I read something about that during lockdown actually.

They're very mild motorcycle rides through sometimes quite lovely countryside - not scary at all, though I could take them being edited a bit - a lot of rural America is very similar, so I cheat and fast-forward. They're his thing, that and making models of cars - which he also puts on video for the like-minded.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12593 comments Evening, we had some heavy rain this morning, which was probably needed, it's a lot cooler now. Me and colleague weren't sure the rain would hold off for our walk, and she had some sandals to return, so we went to M & S, so still some steps. I was telling her about my toenail surgery, and bless her, she offered to pick me up from the doc after, when I said I was going to get a taxi, she probably lives a 25 min drive from me, so not like it's round the corner, I won't take her up on it, but was really touched for the offer. Was dry after work, so did a canal walk, was thinking it was a boring one when I spied the mallard and 4 ducklings coming under the bridge - they were a bit wary at first, till they realised I had nice food, then were happy to have some, although didn't get as close as the goslings did. The bit of the street that has been dug up has now been tarmaced, it does look a bit strange as it's a complete contrast to what was there before but at least it's done and I can park outside my house again.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12593 comments Evening, was so cool last night I nearly put my heated underblanket on! Might give in tonight actually. Really hectic day at work, feel like I'm getting behind and got a client do tomorrow, so only in front of the computer for a couple of hours. At least I got out for my walk at lunch, saw the goslings, but a bloke had just let his dog get a drink in the lodge, so they were swimming away. Did my hair and nails when I got in ready for tomorrow, so didn't have time for another walk. Did have a couple of things cheer me up though, NowTV are finally showing Alibi, so quite a lot of what I haven't been able to watch for the last couple of years is available, some only have a couple of weeks though, so might be binge watching. Then got a message from the cleaner, she is able to start cleaning, she isn't free this week, so she's going to start at the end of July, which is good as it's 9 days after my toenail surgery, so at least I know the house is going to get a good clean.

message 16822: by Alicia (new)

Alicia Ehrhardt (aliciabutcherehrhardt) | 4834 comments Having a cleaner is such a blessing. Ours come put us to rights every other week, as I can't stand (or even sit) to do a lot of the cleaning chores, which means the husband would do them all, and he has seeing problems from his eye surgery.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12593 comments It is, I felt bad for keeping mine after I gave up my voluntary work, but she is worth the money, I only need her to come in once a month.

message 16824: by Alicia (new)

Alicia Ehrhardt (aliciabutcherehrhardt) | 4834 comments Why should you feel bad? You choose to spend your money on something you want; someone else chooses the wage they want - if you meet in the middle, both benefit.

That is the best way to operate - I wouldn't think twice, as long as the wages are fair and agreed to.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12593 comments Evening, that felt like a long day! Weather held of for us getting to and from the venue, although did rain for a bit while we were there. One of the busiest ones we've done, did feel weird when someone I've known for about 9 years, although not seen for a while, was hugging me! She said she thought about me the other day, wondered if I was still working there, which was nice. Was hard standing for about 5 hours, hip was killing me when I got home, luckily I hit my step count on the way back from the train station, so just chilled on the bed reading for half an hour. Bonus is, I now have a new streak, 24 days! Hoping tomorrow's rain forecast ends up the same as today's, so I can carry on my streak.

Well, I think I thought it was laziness to pay someone to do something that I'm capable of doing myself, but friend was right when she said I'd miss it and think of it as money well spent!

message 16826: by Alicia (new)

Alicia Ehrhardt (aliciabutcherehrhardt) | 4834 comments It IS money well spent - you are preserving your energy and your attention for something YOU want to do. Life is short - eat more cake!

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12593 comments Evening, another day where the forecast rain didn't materialise, so am up to a 25 day streak! Luckily not much came in while we were out yesterday and today was quiet, so I got to catch up a bit - had a boring webinar this pm, so used the time to clear my inbox of all the junk e-mails I need to glance at before deleting. Was chatting to a colleague I've not seen for a while yesterday, he's struggling with long covid, so not coming in much, he was telling me about this theory which sounds like the spoon theory, although now they use gold coins, so I explained I'm aware of that and was telling him that I feel better with the walking I'm doing, dropped him an e-mail this morning with my number, in case he ever wanted to talk, he thanked me and said I inspired him to walk round the block on his lunch break! As it was supposed to rain, I did my canal walk at lunch, saw the tiniest fish ever, they were really long, but really thin, so that's 4 sizes in the canal. Nipped to Lidl after work as I wanted a couple of milkshakes from american week, so have done 8k steps.

Yes, that is very true Alicia, although life might be a lot shorter if I eat too much cake :)

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12593 comments Evening, that was a hectic day, we have so much work on July is going to be awful! Especially as my boss has a week off and I'll not be at 100% with my toenail surgery. Got a works do tonight, really not looking forward to it, it keeps raining too, so at least getting ready will be quicker, won't need to bother straightening my hair.

Yes, it would be Alicia!

message 16831: by Alicia (new)

Alicia Ehrhardt (aliciabutcherehrhardt) | 4834 comments Not fair, Jim. I can't do ANY steps.

Of course I very rarely even taste cake any more, and never more than a taste - the last thing my body needs is to carry excess poundage. I've basically given up on food - I eat enough to sustain, don't add salt, keep the carbs very low - and survive. Not a whole lot of fun.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12593 comments That's what I try to do Jim, not sure if it helps with the weight side, I'm mainly walking because it helps my pain levels. Aww, that doesn't sound much fun Alicia

message 16833: by Alicia (new)

Alicia Ehrhardt (aliciabutcherehrhardt) | 4834 comments I'm just happy not to have cravings - which happen if I eat too many carbs of any kind, and drive me nuts.

I'll take it - if they ever fix us, I'll relearn pleasurable eating. I know, I know - but it takes me days to get rid of the cravings if I indulge more than a tiny bit, so I don't.

The only answer to weight is move more, eat less. You're managing the move more, which has to be be good, whatever you eat :-)

message 16835: by Alicia (new)

Alicia Ehrhardt (aliciabutcherehrhardt) | 4834 comments The answer to weight is severe calorie and carb restriction - if you can't move.

I'd rather move; it's not an option.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12593 comments Evening, last night was better than expected, there weren't as many out as usual, which I think helped, although still lots of people were hugging me! I wasn't sure if we would be walking to the bar and back, so I did a quick park walk after work, which wasn't necessary as I ended up doing 12.2k steps - roughly 9k of them in my new sandals, I'm certainly breaking things in with lots of steps this year! Feet were fine today, but hips were a bit sore as I stood a lot again. We did manage to get on the last train, just as my colleague was wondering if she could get her husband to drop us both us, ratty neighbour got on the train, so she was happy then that I had someone to walk home with, even though it's only about 800 yards. Despite not getting to sleep till 1, I still woke up at 6, although did get another hour about 8. Didn't stop me doing my steps though (and turns out I've done 16 consecutive weeks where my average is more than my target), went to the nature reserve, on the way there, I saw a cat on the same side of the canal as me for once, she was friendly enough to let me stroke her. Went to the pond, it was quite milky looking, and couldn't see any tadpoles in it, so hope nothing has happened to them. Did feed some ducks on the way back, they swam from the opposite bank, so felt I had to, then nipped in candle shop for another bag, the daughter was working today and has got quite chatty with me, which is odd because before she went to Uni, she seemed quite shy, and that's not the first time now she's instigated the conversation. Then went to coffee shop, had a nice chat with them, she said she'd just ordered a book she thought I'd be interested in, she's going to let me know what she thinks, then their eldest son has started working on a Sat with them, he decided to have a conversation with me today for the first time, telling me what they are up to tomorrow, which I encouraged. Then bumped into ratty neighbour as I was coming back! Not done much since then, but did finish a book and start a new one, so a good day overall.

That is true Jim, a couple of friends have said they think I look like I have lost weight, even though I don't think so, but as I said to one of my neighbours, at least I'm staying the same dress size, so I must be evening things out! And as I said, the walking is helping pain levels, ratty neighbour was saying that she'd turned down a walk as she thought such a long distance would affect her plantar fasciitis and I said walking has been helping mine, I remember one walk last summer that aggravated it, but even all these walks in new shoes this year hasn't.

Alicia Ehrhardt (aliciabutcherehrhardt) | 4834 comments More than all the health benefits, of which there are many, I miss how good it feels to go for a nice solid walk. And hiking - all the stuff I'd planned to do more of when I retired.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12593 comments Evening, had a rubbish night sleep, Lucy was sleeping in the most awkward position and was very grumpy, teeth and claws came out, so I had to sleep round her! Got up about midnight to take a tablet, came down for a drink, Coco was sleeping on the part of the sofa where I sit in the evening, and using my blanket as a pillow, I always think that's positive, as it must have more of my scent on than other places - ironically I'm sat on the floor typing this as Lucy has now pinched it, maybe she doesn't like having Coco's scent on there, as she normally sleeps on her sofa (we have one each!). Went to the summer fair at the rescue she is from today, was so nice to see some more people I haven't seen for 2 years, at least today no one hugged me! I took £20 and was determined not to come home with anything, there wasn't much to buy so I spent most of it on the tombola's, and proved my bad luck - £8 on one, and I only won 1 prize, the other one I won 1 prize with my first £4, but then I went back when they had 6 tickets and 5 prizes, and only won 2!! They all went back to the rescue. Did the food shopping on the way home, Sun pm is not a good time for that, it was awful. Bought Lucy a new toy from B & M, a crinkle bag to replace the Aldi bag she likes to play on, she looked at it like 'what was wrong with my Aldi one?'!! Then when I got back, I'd only done half my step count so I did a quick canal walk, really should have done more housework when I got back but was tired, so after making the bed, I laid and read on it instead.

I think I've listened to neighbour tell me so much that I won't work till retirement age, that I'm either trying to do all this walking now while I can, or I'm trying to help my joints now.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12593 comments Evening, what a rubbish day! So busy at work, at least the two meetings this morning only lasted 43 mins, rather than the 1.5 hours they'd been booked for. Got a little walk at lunch, colleague changed her office days so was by myself, shame as we were going to cut the stinging nettles down today. Then the afternoon was chaotic, tried booking 14 meetings, but with people's commitments, it was so hard, then at one point I had a colleague e-mail and ask if i'd seen his e-mail from an hour previously - seeing as he was included in all the meeting invites, you'd think he'd realise I was a tad busy! Ended up working late too, ironically one of the directors rang to ask if I could rearrange a meeting at 4.40. So not had chance to set out my to do list for the week, and got a 9.30-4.30 meeting tomorrow! Got home, and was chatting to the neighbour I let share my washing line, when neighbour walked past, I glanced up and carried on talking. Noticed she was stood in her doorway, assumed she wanted to speak to neighbour, I walked across the street and she shouted over 'no wonder you can't look me in the face, you know you did it. Pathetic' - I just ignored her and walked in my house. It's taken nearly 9 months, but she's clearly still angry and thinks I'm in the wrong. Decided to go for a little walk round the park, even though I'd hit my step count.

Alicia Ehrhardt (aliciabutcherehrhardt) | 4834 comments Pathetic - too bad. I wouldn't want to be friends with someone who didn't want to be friends with me. Friendship is a mutual thing. Hope she can get to civil some day in the future.

M.T. McGuire (mtmcguire) | 8049 comments Blimey Desley, your neighbour sounds like the pits. So glad you've struck out on your own and made new friends and started enjoying life. She's definitely an emotional vampire and it sounds as if, unless she radically changes her ways, you are well shot. The park walk sounded like a very sensible idea.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12593 comments Evening, I was quite surprised to sleep well last night, normally when I've had some kind of confrontation it plays on my mind, but not this new relaxed me! What a day today though, we started the day off with some good news, then our training session started, the morning was OK, but long, did a quick lap of the park to have a stretch, met a spaniel who was obsessed with me, just kept walking at the side of me and nudging my hand for a fuss, in the end his owner had to put him on the lead as we were going opposite directions and he was following me, she said he's never done that before! Then the afternoon session dragged so much, me and boss were messaging each other throughout it, I had an extra chocolate at the afternoon break as strawberries weren't enough. Luckily the last hour wasn't as bad, but even though I'd barely done anything, told my boss I was finishing on time as I needed to stretch, did a canal walk, saw mum and ducklings who were a bit wary till they realised I had food, mum couldn't be bothered to swim, she flew across the canal, then the ducklings were swimming so quickly their bums were out of the air, so that made me feel so much better. Then I saw two lots of fish, not seen any for ages, so that was good too. And came home and finished my book. Hoping for the forecast rain tomorrow to do some housework.

That is a good point Alicia, but the main thing for me is that someone who has known me for 20 years could accuse me of something I'd never do, never mind not believe me when I denied it. Thanks Jim and MT, my friends (on and offline) have certainly helped

Alicia Ehrhardt (aliciabutcherehrhardt) | 4834 comments Injustice is hard to forgive - as you say, she's known you for a very long time, and should know.

And she's not even trying to explain.

Just nod and go about your way - you do sound much more relaxed.

Yes, smile and wave, it drives them mad :-)

M.T. McGuire (mtmcguire) | 8049 comments What Jim said. I'd I want to really get on their tits I blow them a kiss. Always a joy when I encounter male drivers who get antsy at the idea of a woman driving a lotus.

Alicia Ehrhardt (aliciabutcherehrhardt) | 4834 comments I got so mad at one of our idiots last night that I had to ask the husband if I should actually post a comment - or delete it.

He suggested I not post; but I did save it - this particular idiot has done similar things before - and will do them again. He needs to learn that if a forum is designated as anonymous, he doesn't get to pass the information on! It's not his, uh, right? IP? D**m business?

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12593 comments Evening all, been drizzling on and off all day, but managed to get my steps in - am up to a 31 day streak, but am feeling a bit achy now! Work was manic again, and when I was doing a task this morning, I realised that my boss is off next week and I seem to have booked 7 meetings, as well as having 3 deadlines, as I have to help with hers too - to make it worse, one of the days I've booked meetings for 12.30, 2 and 3.30, clearly wasn't thinking about lunch when I did those! Luckily that's a work from home day. As the weather was so debatable, I did a canal walk at lunch, although it did start drizzling on the way home, the moorhen was walking along something making a lot of noise, they are much more graceful out of water, and saw some fish. Then after work I thought I'd do a quick park walk, so I could do some chores, I saw the dog I bumped into yesterday, so walked that direction, they were with another dog walker, who owns a leonberger (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leonberger) - she weighs 8 stone, so when she sat down to lean against me, I did nearly fall over!! She got to me before the dog from yesterday (who is called Bert, think she said he's a sproodle, definitely Springer Spaniel crossed with something!), so he blanked me, was chatting to both of them, got shown pics of Sky, the leonberger as a puppy, and her parents (really do love how friendly people are in my village!!), then we walked back together and Bert got excited then and kept bringing me his ball to throw - at one point he came back and you could see him debating between me and his owner! They seem to walk together every day, so I might have to do more park walks. So was out longer than expected, but still had enough time to do some chores and read.

She won't explain Alicia as she thinks I'm in the wrong - maybe the fact I walked out of her house when she didn't believe me fuelled her belief? Maybe blanking her is the wrong thing, maybe I need to start smiling at her!! I'll remember that one for annoying drivers MT!!
