Helloooo!

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12597 comments Slept so well I wasn’t sure what the noise was when the alarm went off this morning, rare I get woken up by it. Been really foggy all morning. Going to the cheap shop, retail park and Tesco after work, although neighbour said this morning she was going to do an errand, so she may change her mind by the time I get home.

Glad things are going well book wise MT. Lucky you R, it was really cold here yesterday. Nice to ‘see’ you Patti.

Lynne (Tigger's Mum) | 4643 comments My. Grandson is the gift that keeps on giving. So I’ve got another cold. A stinker! Nurse wouldn’t do my shingles vaccination as I sounded so hoarse, I’m rethinking it as it may be an omen.
Oh well best get going and take the little lad to school. Sky is a fantastic red again this morning it looks cold but not frosty.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12597 comments Was really foggy again this morning, although now it has lifted and we have blue sky. Lucy is going for her first acupuncture visit of the year tonight.

Sorry grandson has passed on something else now Lynne, hope you don’t regret not being able to have your shingles vaccination (didn’t actually think you were old enough for that.)

Rosemary (grooving with the Picts) (nosemanny) | 8590 comments Apologies everyone I can't get the above post to delete... Will try again later, no time just now!

Rosemary (grooving with the Picts) (nosemanny) | 8590 comments Argh and with that, the spam went and now it looks like I want to delete Desley cos I can't get my own post to go!

Morning! All the wee birdies are singing although it's still dark :) sounds lovely

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Morning each. Reviewing this morning. By heck, it's perishing cold here.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12597 comments Will post properly later, had a meeting this morning, which started late, which meant I was late having my lunch and we have another meeting at 1! Few errands after work, was cold enough this morning I had to scrape the car.

I won't take too much offence R!

Rosemary (grooving with the Picts) (nosemanny) | 8590 comments White frost on the beach this morning, which is rare. Cold but beautiful!

Bought myself a bag of "artisan vegetable crisps" as a treat for my lunch. Looked like hamster bedding and tasted not much better :( Off to find some Monster Munch - let me at that pickled onion flavour goodness.

message 12910: by M.T. (new)

M.T. McGuire (mtmcguire) | 8049 comments Yep frosty here too, in town. It's been a lovely day.

I have a book out tomorrow. Woot.

Cheers

the cheaper the crisps the better the flavour :-)
Not always true but not a bad rule of thumb

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12597 comments Bad night sleep, but fortunately not much on, a couple of bits to get from the village and a bit of housework, the highlight being setting up the new TV and stick. Must get the car pics sorted, garage are hassling for when they can collect the car, which I haven't even agreed to yet! So glad it's weekend, been a hard week at work and I feel very behind. Need to figure out my annual leave this weekend, not sure I can actually fit it all in. Was wet and windy overnight, but now nice and sunny.

message 12914: by M.T. (new)

M.T. McGuire (mtmcguire) | 8049 comments Glad the weather's better with you Desley and I hope today is relaxing. Kath, well done, and ... not sure, read I guess! ;-)

Decent day to day, have just finished posting everywhere and anywhere about my new book and have updated my website to ssl! That was scary but I got there in the end.

Better go and have a look at the market now.

Cheers

Now there's an offer you cannot refuse :-)

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12597 comments Well, had a minor panic setting the TV up, thought I was going to have to return it and the NowTV stick, but figured it out fortunately, but it made my headache feel worse. Neighbour then asked if I wanted to go to the tip and Morrisons, I said yes as I needed to take my old quilt to the tip, so not got everything done. Now looking forward to going to bed to test the new TV. Got back just as it started raining.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12597 comments Got woken up early by the storm, and too noisy to get back to sleep, still got a headache but not quite as bad as yesterday. Only plan on leaving my house to go to my neighbours.

message 12921: by M.T. (new)

M.T. McGuire (mtmcguire) | 8049 comments I have not looked out of the window yet but it sounds windy. Quite a good launch yesterday. I think I sold a few more than the last one ... woot!

It was banana man’s birthday yesterday. I just thought I’d let you know! Eric, his alter ego, has been a boy for 40 years. All I can say is, I’d quite like some of that, eternal youth gig although I’d be happy to stop at say ... 30, before my knees started to really ache. Mwahahahahrgh!

Cheers

And it's blowing a hoolie here, driving rain, the works

M.T. McGuire (mtmcguire) | 8049 comments Hoolie here too. It also has the temerity to be raining. The congregation being mostly elderly and staying at home we were out numbered by the altar party this week.

Cheers

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12597 comments Good job we got everything we needed, we have flooding again. Hope it eases overnight, or i might not be able to get to work

Our congregation all made it :-)
Given that during the service they were talking about being brought up in the 1940s I suspect they're just tough :-)

Ours are usually pretty robust but it's quite blustery, it'll hit you from one side and then the other at high speed. It nearly blew me over this morning, it's definitely blowing extremely hard.

Cheers

There's a couple of pictures on today's blog which show it

I don't think any of us can top Jim's reply to this ... Mwhahahhahargh!

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12597 comments Flood alert was lifted about 6pm last night, but the wind and rain didn’t stop, was woken up by it at 3 and 6, so was a tad concerned that the roads would be bad, especially as part of what fell was hail, but the roads were quieter than normal, it isn’t half term this week. Wind does seem to be dying down now though. Headache not as bad today, but cough has re-appeared, I must be allergic to work!

Hmm, you can go off people you know Patti! Hope you don’t need to go anywhere R.

Alicia Ehrhardt (aliciabutcherehrhardt) | 4836 comments I have learned to sleep with howling winds and things rattling in predictable patterns which depend on instantaneous wind speed.

I don't remember our first California winter being this windy, but it was very nice and warm today for the first time in ages - and had 15mph winds, steady.

Makes me stay inside.

Will Macmillan Jones (willmacmillanjones) | 11324 comments Had a few days more or less off line to recover. How's the gales up there, Jim? We've lost a few branches, nothing too serious thankfully although the internet is a bit intermittent

message 12936: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Good morning, campers!

Still some serious wind, and another disturbed night's sleep. No physical damage to Middleton Towers, however, for which we're thankful.

I hope everyone else has come through it all okay - not that it's over yet!

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12597 comments Was woken up at 1am by Lucy last night, she's still not eating right, but not sure if the weather is making her feel unsettled. Last night we had thunder and hail, today hail, snow and sleet, plus heavy winds. Had to stop on our lane for a deer to decide what it wanted to do, was lovely to watch it gracefully jump the fence.

Glad you had nothing too serious Will. Shame you have had to learn to sleep through howling winds Alicia! Glad you had warm weather yesterday.

message 12938: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21811 comments Strangely enough we had more damage in January when a mini tornado went through and even then it hit neighbours, we lost a few small hawthorn in a hedge and even they are probably salvagable

The sea has come over the sea wall because the wind direction backed up spring tides on the full moon, so that's been a bit spectacular but to be fair, the winds aren't much more than we expect here on the west coast every year. Wales will be the same for that I expect

message 12939: by Kelly (new)

Kelly Clayton | 1040 comments Looks like a few of us have had a right old time of it with the storm. Jersey has been battered. Flooding along the coastal roads, trees down, fences ripped apart. The top floor of our house is really exposed to the sea and the new windows have taken a good old bashing. Still windy and raining but so much better now than it was.

Desley, hope Lucy is feeling better.

Poor deer! I wouldn't last outside a day in this weather.

Hope Lucy's feeling better - unsettled goes with changing atmospheric pressure.

message 12941: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21811 comments A full tummy, a good thick leather jacket with the hair still on and a hedge to tuck yourself under and you'd be fine :-)

message 12942: by Will (new)

Will Macmillan Jones (willmacmillanjones) | 11324 comments The storm has robbed me of proper internet, which is a nuisance for the day job. And for getting on here.

Did manage to copy some Facebook pics of the storm surge in the harbour here, though.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12597 comments Another interesting journey to work, firstly had a lady who decided to stop in the middle of the road to let her kids out of the car, stopping traffic, then noticed 3 cows munching on grass at the verge opposite the school. I was fine, but my colleague who was a few mins behind me had them touching her car! No idea where they came from! Lots of hail last night, but blue skies today, and wind calming down, although we are supposed to have another storm this weekend. Very tired today, glad we aren’t going food shopping tonight.

Wow, didn’t know Jersey got so battered Kelly, bet you were glad you had new windows. Sorry the weather has affected your internet Will.

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Eh up. Gorgeously sunny at the moment but the wind is straight off the glaciers. Got flower arranging tomorrow and then I'm prepared to pull up the drawbridge and eat out of the freezer for a week!

Came home over Shap last night, the A6 is closed by roadworks and snow, the M6 wasn't bad. I'm supposed to be going back over it this morning but giving it a miss because it looks horrible

message 12946: by M.T. (new)

M.T. McGuire (mtmcguire) | 8049 comments Sounds like a very sensible decision Jim. Driving to Sussex in freezing cold but bright, bright sun yesterday, it was weird to hear all the traffic reports of snowy road closures from about Doncaster up. It’s hit us this morning, although, of course, it’s melted so it’s just rain here. Looking forward to parents’ swim! But I think I’ll be taking it easy, more of a wallow than an actual swim!

Have my writer friends coming round to lunch today. Looking forward to it.

Morning all...

Karen Lowe | 1338 comments Morning all, from a calm tho chilly Shropshire. At least our little pond isn't frozen. Any day now it'll be full of frogs doing their thing. Always worries me they are so early then the pond freezes.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12597 comments Decided to stop worrying about Lucy last night when she happily munched on carrot and parsnip mash! She’s not leaving quite as much of her food as she was either, even if she is eating some of it when it is getting a bit dry and stale! Looks a fairly nice day today, no random animals on the journey either. Nipping to the co-op after work.

Don’t blame you for not wanting to go over Shap today Jim. Sounds a nice day MT.

Been for a little walk and now I'm settling down to some reviewing. Then I have a loaf to make. All good fun.
