So happy for you - of course you had to listen right away, and of course you couldn't sleep!

we're due to be wet and windy but not as windy as you

Hope everyone had a lovely holiday.
Roll on Easter."
hope you had a good break over here

And good morning! It's grey here and the wind has died down but despite forecasts of mildness I don't detect any.
Been writing short stories and painting rocks. Finished the stories and almost run out of rocks to paint - so I'll probably spend the day being a blessed nuisance!

Thanks for the link R, I’ll have a nosey. Hope the weather doesn't get too bad for you. Did wonder when you were going back Patti, hope this year is better for you. No wonder you didn’t get much sleep MT, glad things are going well with the audio stuff.

the rain stopped long enough for me to walk to Leece to pay a bill and get some bits and pieces :-)

Still windy... Went out for a walk and it was much milder than I was expecting. Nothing has come off the roof yet!

McMini got hit in the face with a hockey stick yesterday - first time playing. He looks a bit cro magnum but seems OK. More hockey today and I'll have to run up there in the car and drop off his golf bats for after school golf because his father took the wrong ones!
Then McOther is away for two nights and we have a dig planned for Saturday before he gets back and I have one on Sunday. Looking forward those but will miss McOther.
Good luck with the new term Patti.
Morning all!

Today it's the BSE Authors' meet up. Looking forward to it.

sounds a great place :-)

Wish we could all send some of our excess water to Australia.

Glad the drought is over Alicia, like you say, shame we can't send some to Australia

Had a bit of a thing last night, woke up with one leg in agony, shooting pains in my thigh, back of knee and left bum lump. It was so painful I wondered about calling 111 but they’d just say go to hospital because they always do and I was on my own so I wasn’t getting McMini dressed in the middle of the night, telling him I might be ill, and heading off to wait four hours in casualty to be told to go home and take some paracetamol.
After concentrating for some time, I began to see similarities between the pain and restless leg. Like restless leg gone mad, or on steroids. I get the normal version a bit because the muscles up the back of my legs are all too tight and I limp, of course, and I can’t walk up hills anymore unless I walk like Herr Flick out of Allo Allo. As I couldn’t get comfortable after half an hour, I thought I’d try some Alexander technique. Got a book and lay on my back on the floor with my head resting on the book. A lady at my old gym had told me this resets your spine. Woot. And I can confirm it does. But it takes every bit of the forty minutes she said it takes ... ah. So I dozed on the floor of my bedroom with a dressing gown over me from half past two until half past three. Dozed because no-one could sleep through the snoring I was doing. Then the pain had gone away enough to sleep. But it was hard work getting up to go digging this morning, I can tell you.
I’ve now researched some yoga exercises which I did today and they’ve helped massively. It’s still there, pecking at me, waiting to pop up again but if I make sure I don’t stay in the same position too long I’m OK. But yeh, a day digging tomorrow would probably be foolish. Anyway, morning all!

For my pain I have to remember to do both strengthening AND stretching exercises. With just the stretching, the problems recur - because I haven't done anything to get rid of the cause. The problem is that the strengthening exercises always have pain as their aftereffect; it's only after doing them regularly that they help.
No fun falling apart.

Had a great, if rather blowy, day out yesterday, definitely cleared out some cobwebs. Did a couple of beaches between Alnmouth and Blyth, was good to be out in the sunshine.
Hope everyone is having a good weekend and not getting blown about too much.

Bit wet and not much promise for a better day
I've sort of promised myself I'll clear the last of the brambles off the law, where I heaped them after clearing the wall and hedge of ivy and rubbish

Morning all. Brightening today with the prospect of some sun after a positively frightful deluge yesterday combined with 60-70mph gusts that had the A1 closed again.

Somebody once described brambles as 'a thug of a plant' which sums them up nicely

Sorry to hear that MT, not sure going metal detecting today would be wise. Hope you can find some exercises that work. Hope you get everything done Claire.

No. And yeh, I hear you re stretching and strengthening. That's why the yoga exercises seem to be quite good. 7 days, ten minutes a day and there are strengthening and stretching exercises all in which seems sensible.

But ... blackberries! :-)

And to be fair brambles do provide excellent cover for birds and small mammals. In the right place

A neighbouring house had domesticated blackberries which had gone wild. When the house was empty waiting for new owners, we had to eat them, it would have been a shame to let them go to waste
You could eat them raw with cream and sugar like Raspberries :-)

I'm at the desk at 8 am with a (nearly) full moon in the sky and waiting for the 75 mph winds forecast for us this afternoon. Don't think I'll go out.
Saturday K and I went out to a spoken word event, drove home is horrid conditions. A friend at the event came home 20 minutes later and drove into a fallen tree on the same road. We must have been lucky.

Hope anyone getting the brunt of Storm Brendan in the next 48 hours or so, doesn't suffer too much damage or disruption.

Hideous troubles with ACX this weekend trying to upload an audiobook. Jeepers. It kept saying 'there is a problem with your audio files' what it actually meant was, 'when you put all the sales data in we didn't save it and now we've greyed out the page so you can't go back and fix it'. I got round it by clicking that I was uploading new files on all of them, then it let me go back and alter the metadata, and then it remembered I'd uploaded the files and asked if I wanted to submit the book. I checked the sound files were all correct and in the right order and when they were, submitted it.
We had a sunny start but it's clouding over now. I have bought an ultra sound machine to help deal with the arthritic knees so just off to collect that from Boots now before it begins to rain.
Morning all

Yes, you couldn’t waste blackberries Jim. Glad you got home safely on Sat Will, don’t blame you for not wanting to go out today. Congrats on the house move Ben. Glad that McMini enjoys digging MT, hopefully that will mean you can go more.

But you're right Desley, you cannot waste blackberries that good :-)

I am currently writing my personal statement for my UCAS application. I'M APPLYING FOR NURSING!! I'm so excited but also panicking because it is due in tomorrow by 6pm.
I can do this.
I hope everyone is well, I haven't read through the last 150 posts because I really need to get this done so I can get others to read over it before sending it off.
EEEEEP!!!

Just been for a physio appointment. Been signed off. I'm on my own now!

Glad you both have power again. Ooh, fingers crossed Jud, of course you can do it. Glad physio has signed you off Kath.

Cool Roe! Well done! I'll go and browse that now.
Everyone, spent the day doing thank you letters and sending the aged aunts, uncles and godparents calendars with a newsy letter trying to make my shit year sound upbeat! Felt like a waste of fucking time but I think they'll actually enjoy the letters and be dead chuffed with the calendars. Just have to post them tomorrow and then Christmas is officially done! Woot!
Totally knackered because Gareth sent some voice recordings over last night, so I listened to them, send the feedback and then was so excited about the audio for book two that I was unable to go to sleep until about half past one in the morning. Yes I am a knob. But you all knew that! Mwahahahaharhgh!
Here's to a fabulous 2020 everyone.
Cheers
