Jim | 21812 comments June does just seem to be a reasonably normal June to be honest

It reminds us why church events used to have the footnote on the poster, "In the church hall if wet"

Rosemary (grooving with the Picts) (nosemanny) | 8590 comments We were spoilt last summer and got ideas above our station, weather-wise.
Lovely here today (so far) :D
I just came across a giant Oor Wullie statue down at the harbour. Jings, crivvens, help ma boab etc

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments It's a lovely day over here too (so far)

Having a cup of tea then I must go in search of caffeine

message 11104: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Howdly-do? Been out for our morning walk but it's still drizzling. Sun breaking through every so often but the wet stuff still continues.

message 11105: by Anna (new)

Anna Faversham (annafaversham) | 1752 comments Blue sky and black clouds. I've chanced it and put the washing out.

Lynne (Tigger's Mum) | 4643 comments We’ve got the drain man coming with the camera as OH is still not happy with the speed it empties. He’s never really happy but its nice for him to have a reason other than me to moan about 😀
I still feel really ill. It’s a good bug whatever it is.
Just found a toad in our garden. Poor little thing had gone down the steps and couldn’t get back up again. Good job we found him before the dog did. I wouldn’t trust the spaniel not to bite it. The Dobermann wouldn’t - he’d run away or bark at it.

Kelly Clayton | 1040 comments Sunny on and off here -am sure it will be raining again soon.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12604 comments Still a bit headachy, but nausea and dizziness stopped, so came to work, as was bored. Eyesight not 100%, but getting better, and the eyesight test was much easier yesterday than last week. Friend is coming round after work to pick up her dog food, will be nice to have a catch up, I briefly saw her at the food festival last week, but was too wet to have a proper chat. We actually have some blue sky for a change.

Sorry you are still feeling ill Lynne. Doesn't tea contain caffeine Jud?

message 11109: by Jud (new)

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments Well, yes but I drink caffeine free teas, rooibos and fruit based ones.

Rosemary (grooving with the Picts) (nosemanny) | 8590 comments Really happy that daughter no2 (who's on her hols in NZ) has sent me a message to say she's been awarded her degree with first class honours :D (she won't let me post it on fb and I need to boast somewhere!)
We have blue sky at the moment, but it was drizzly not five minutes ago.

message 11111: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21812 comments There are some things it's good to boast about Rosemary :-)

Here it just got very humid and close. Went from sort of normal to being like the inside of a greenhouse in about five minutes!

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Yay for daughter #2!

message 11115: by Anna (new)

Anna Faversham (annafaversham) | 1752 comments Whoop, whoop! First class honours.

But sorry to hear of the problems others are having.

I ran out of energy about 6 p.m. - completely. Had to go on strike and sat down and watched the telly. We're putting our house back together again after the upheaval - not one room, not one single room (sorry to repeat myself) has been spared from being piled high with furniture and stuff. And as I pick things up, it seems like a good time to put some in the dustbin, some for the charity shop, some for the girl who's raising money for something, and some back to the children who've long since flown the nest but left a lot of feathers behind.

Carry on tomorrow.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12604 comments Well, headache is practically gone, just get the odd twinge when I move my head too quick or in a certain direction. Knee isn't getting any better though. Got the hairdressers at lunch, then going on a steam train for a 5 course black tie do this evening as a belated birthday present for my neighbour, looking forward to it. Currently sunny, but is supposed to rain.

Congrats to daughter R. Good luck with getting everything back in place Anna, at least it is giving you an opportunity to sort through things.

I actually CAN imagine what you're going through, and you have my sympathies. Having to organize a whole house is too huge a task for one day - or even many.

Good for you having the mental energy to sort some out as you go.

message 11122: by Darren (new)

Darren Humphries (darrenhf) | 6903 comments And... it's raining. I've stopped looking at the forecast in the hope of some sunshine.

Good morning everyone and hope you manage to fit in a good day between all the raindrops.

message 11123: by Jay-me (Janet) (new)

Jay-me (Janet) | 3784 comments We had rain during the night but yesterday was dry and quite pleasant, went out for a couple of walks and watched my great niece having her first play in a swimming pool. Today my brother and SIL are visiting. Looks like another pleasant day weatherwise here in North Wales.

Still haven't decided which book to download from audible with this month's credit. REading a book recommended by Kath at the moment.

message 11124: by Kelly (new)

Kelly Clayton | 1040 comments at least it's dry today. In-laws coming round for breakfast, bacon rolls it is. Then a day at the laptop.

Huge congrats to daughter, Rosemary. Brilliant result. Anna, sounds a mammoth task. However, as others have said, at least you're having a wee bit of a clean-out as well. Good luck.

Bacon rolls? What's the address? I'm on my way.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12604 comments Well, we had a lovely time on the train last night, glad I did it, but won't be doing it again, I'm not sure it was worth the money, I could have had a snack when I got home, except my eye wasn't happy at the reduction in drops and despite keeping my sunglasses on except for pics, my eye was red and painful when we got back. Much better after the 2 lots of regular drops, I've added one extra drop this morning, which hopefully should be enough. Feel a bit drained even though I only had 3 drinks, and got quite a bit of housework to do today, which isn't going to be fun with my sore knee. Weather not up to much though.

message 11127: by Kelly (new)

Kelly Clayton | 1040 comments I'm afraid the bacon rolls were consumed all too quickly, Darren.

Glad you had a good time, Desley. Hope you've been able to have a rest today.

The sun is out! yay.

Well, it has taken a while to get through the housework, Lucy clearly thought I needed a rest and kept making me sit down!

At least you can enjoy a drink, Desley. I can tolerate one tablespoonful of white wine (or margarita), and my system tells me it's had enough.

message 11130: by Darren (new)

Darren Humphries (darrenhf) | 6903 comments The sun is out here as well to celebrate the start of the working week, though showers are promised tomorrow. Which is just as well, because you should always shower before work.

Hope not, I've washed a haystack of washing (trying to catch up) and it was all out by 7.30 when it was so nice and sunny. Clouding over now. Is it tomorrow we're all (or nearly all) promised a glimpse of summer?

message 11134: by Jud (new)

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments Morning

We had a washout of a weekend, weather wise. It's lovely and sunny this morning though, I wonder how long it'll last.

Well done to Rosemary Junior #2.

I hope you feel better soon Desley.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12604 comments Wet again today, knee was really bad and typically left my medication at home! Eye is less red and with the extra drops, did 6 in the end rather than the 4 I should be on, but vision still not 100%. Had a meeting this morning, got a one-to-one this afternoon, then get to go to the docs to get my blood test results, hope I don’t end up sat there for an hour again.

Still sunny here in the south-east and even warm!

message 11137: by M.T. (last edited Jun 17, 2019 08:41AM) (new)

M.T. McGuire (mtmcguire) | 8049 comments Sunny here, sorry I haven’t kept up with everyone but hope sun is out, bugs have gone, drains (and eyes) are clear and all is dandy.

The funeral went well. The eulogy was fine, my brother’s was better than mine but everyone was polite enough not to say. McMini got up to read his prayer and opened with, ‘ooo, I need a wee, I’d better be quick.’ Everyone laughed. It was the celebration we wanted it to be, full of joy and laughter as Dad would have wanted.

Put my neck out on the Monday but it was gone by the funeral, except I then back out emptying the washing machine the day before. Only the land registry to tell and I’ve done all the hello Dad’s died phone calls.

Cheers

MTM

This is why I don't do washing.

The sun is out here this morning, though we're promised rain before too long so enjoy it whilst you can.

Have a great day folks.

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Hi all.

Sorry to have been absent so long. I've been fighting an infection in my wrist for a week or so. Its much improved now.

Last school day on Friday, thank gawd.

Have never needed a holiday so badly.

message 11140: by Jud (new)

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments Morning

Glad it went well Mary.

I wondered why you were being so quiet, Patti. I hope you are fully recovered in time to enjoy the holidays properly. Are you going away anywhere or coming home?

I'm on a half day at work today, got to take Kitty to school this afternoon for a taster session in P1. She's so excited, bless her

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12604 comments Slightly worried, eye felt a lot worse this morning, improved enough after getting up and taking drops for me to come to work, but have rang the eye clinic, who have squeezed me in this afternoon. Was supposed to be taking Lucy for acupuncture this evening, will have to rearrange that, not that she will complain! Sat in the docs for an hour again, bloods are normal so am being referred, although I did try and refuse. Forgot to say yesterday, I realised I have a slight problem yesterday when I got up to go for lunch and picked up my kindle before my food!! One-to-one got cancelled, ironically my boss got held up in his meeting with the HR Manager! Got to have it tomorrow instead, I did offer to just have a 25 min one, but he didn’t like that idea! We actually have blue skies today!

To be fair Anna, I never travel anywhere without a book, even if I know there is little chance of reading! I even put the kindle app on my phone for times when I can’t carry the kindle. It’s a lot easier now with kindle, I no longer have to plan if there is enough pages left in my book and whether I need to take two. Sorry you had an infection in your wrist Patti, glad you are feeling better now. Glad the funeral was a good celebration, it seems very fitting for your dad. Glad you are getting there with the paperwork. Hope Kitty enjoys her taster session.

Lynne (Tigger's Mum) | 4643 comments Lovely weather here (not). Kiddies sports day postponed for second week running. Or not running as it turns out. My turn for drain repairs. The company has been with the camera and it may be patchable but they are returning with the jetter later. Hopefully it won’t be a big repair but if it is it will have to be done. I really shouldn’t have laughed at the neighbours portaloo in their front garden at Christmas.

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Hello, each. Busy beta reading. These things all come at once. I have three in my queue!

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12604 comments Fortunately didn't have to wait too long in the hospital, inflammation is bad again, so got to have the dilating drops for a week and increase steroid drops to every hour for a week, then reduce more gradually. Vision is down to the inflammation. She didn't seem concerned that it has flared badly after reducing drops and said it was nothing to do with me doing too much, I can go about life as normal - well, as much as you can with drops that often! Just trying to work out how to get to work tomorrow.

No, seriously where would we be? Bulgaria? I have no sense of direction.

Enjoy your day everyone.

Rosemary (grooving with the Picts) (nosemanny) | 8590 comments Morning all, we've not had rain all week, yesterday was lovely and sunny although very windy. Today however all is silent out there just now although there may be a little breeze later when the tide turns. A photo of my beach hut was featured on the bbc weather forecast! https://www.bbc.co.uk/weather/feature...

message 11150: by Anna (new)

Anna Faversham (annafaversham) | 1752 comments One of the best thunderstorms began last night about 11.30. Best in terms of thunder and lightning, it rained, of course, but it couldn't compete. The thunder rolled almost continuously but no loud claps. The sheet lightning was amazing and had it not been so late, I would have watched the whole show. None of this 'in the distance' stuff, it took its time in moving overhead. I felt sorry for the birds.
