Kelly Clayton | 1040 comments I went to the doctor. He gave me some pills and said only to take another one if the nausea came back. Took one about 3.30pm. Nausea is slowly, but ever so surely fading. Oh, the relief. Please, please let it be gone.

It's amazing how it floors you.

Thank you so much for all the suggestions. Much appreciated.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12605 comments Glad the doctor managed to give you something, hope they work. Do you still have to travel tomorrow?

message 9703: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Chinese was open. We're stuffed! Home tomorrow.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12605 comments We had Chinese takeaway

message 9705: by Benjamin (new)

Benjamin Appleby-Dean (benjaminappleby-dean) So did we! I suspect they knew to stay open.

Morning, all.

message 9706: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21812 comments About the only meal you cannot get a Chinese meal for round here is breakfast time :-)

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12605 comments Morning all, day off but couldn't stay asleep! Waiting to find out when my parcel will arrive, doing a bit of housework, might even clean the fridge, then popping to the retail park to return the stuff to pets at home.

Have had leftover takeaways for breakfast Jim but never Chinese (or Indian!).

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Quite easy to get Chinese takeaway for breakfast here. About five places just on my block...

Jim | 21812 comments Desley (Cat fosterer) wrote: "Have had leftover takeaways for breakfast Jim but never Chinese (or Indian!). ..."

my late father was in farm service with somebody who when they went out on a night would get two lots of fish and chips for himself, the second lot he'd eat cold for breakfast

message 9710: by Jud (new)

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments Just missed morning!

Had "Training" this morning first thing and then had meeting prep stuff after so I'm only getting a chance to come on now. Still have so much to do, it's nice to be busy for a change. Starting to get hungry so I had a packet of crisps, some sweets and a couple of chocolate orange pieces. Probably should just have had lunch

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Stopped at th supermarket on the way home. They had sweet potatoes from Japan! Bit dry but rather tasty!

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12605 comments Had a nice productive day, ticked off all the things off my list including cleaning the fridge, took parcels in for neighbours, didn't come back with much wet food as they were out of what I wanted but the hairball biscuits were on offer! Did treat myself to a drink from Costa but got home and realised I'd forgotten two things! Was early when I got back so had a wander round the park, fortunately the library is closed on a Wed. Now chilling but had a phone call from a colleague asking for help tomorrow, so going to be hectic

G J (Gaff to my friends) Reilly | 1836 comments Morning all. Warm and windy in the valley, but not as bad it was last night. Lots of staff off today, so I'm covering everywhere. To be honest, I'm looking forward to 3pm, and the day hasn't even started yet! :-D

message 9714: by Benjamin (new)

Benjamin Appleby-Dean (benjaminappleby-dean) Morning, all. Wind and rain here, and due to a combination of sickness and holiday I'm covering one of the offices by myself.

message 9715: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Almost home time here. Yay!

Plenty off here too. There's a stomach bug doing the rounds, I think. I better not get it.

I've volunteered to organise World Book Day. Stupid me.

If anyone has any activity ideas, please share.

We'll definitely be doing the dress up as a book character thing.

message 9716: by Jud (new)

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments Morning!

The last two mornings have gone like a dream in our house and we have actually been early at the childminders!! I was putting it down to Kathleen getting up earlier and having time to chill out before we start demanding her to do things but Gareth said it was because he got up in time to help me get the kids ready! Either way I hope it lasts.

Book day activities, guess the name of the book from image clues or fill in the blank to complete the title.

There's loads of ideas here https://www.worldbookday.com/ideas/sh...

message 9717: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Morning! Cake club day. Straight back from five days with Jenny and gang and I've hit the ground running! I got organised before we went and took out a fruit cake and a bag of cheese scones from the freezer last night. Just split and buttered the scones so we're all set to go.

message 9718: by Anna (new)

Anna Faversham (annafaversham) | 1752 comments Kath, that's so cruel. I had decided that today I would not snack on anything at all, nor would I eat anything after 7 p.m. etc., etc.

Fruit cake, oh... perhaps I shall just stuff my fist in my mouth like babies do and dream it's your fruit cake and scones.

message 9719: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Thanks Jud!

I'd found that website but not found that page yet.

message 9720: by Jud (new)

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments I'm glad you mentioned it, I've made a note to start getting prepared for it now! I don't know if Kitty's nursery will do anything but at least she'll have a fun costume anyway.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12605 comments Was very wet and windy this morning, seems to have finally stopped. Morning hasn’t been that hectic, hope the afternoon goes the same. Although Tue was hectic so was behind on stuff, and not really caught up on that.

Hope you enjoy organising World Book Day Patti. Glad you had supplies for cake club in the freezer Kath. Hope that your mornings continue being easy Jud.

M.T. McGuire (mtmcguire) | 8049 comments I've been feeling a bit rough this week but it's wearing off now. Hope everyone is well. I hadn't realised I've been off here for three days.

Alicia hope the move went well, hope Kath is recovering from the Grandkids and that everyone is recovering from the weather!

It's warm here, and sunny and I've been to the gym and although I still have bogies and vertigo life is alright really.

Patti, the dress up as a book character thing is all anyone does as far as I can tell.

Cheers

MTM

Lynne (Tigger's Mum) | 4643 comments I’ve just had a funny this afternoon. My friend messaged me thanking me for her birthday card but I hadn’t sent her one yet. Her birthday is in March. I thought she’d just looked at the envelope and postmark so asked my daughter if she’d sent one. No it was definitely from me. She sent me a picture and it was my writing etc. But I really hadnt sent it. Nobody was convinced i hadn’t just forgotten doing it but I’m not gaga (yet). I insisted I hadn’t and they fished the envelope out of the rubbish. 2018 it was posted. It was a card from March last year delivered today. That was a relief I began to think I was crackers.

Thanks, Desley. We are completely out of the old apartment. Just did a walkthrough, and mentioned what needed fixing, because it is usually a short-stay guest apartment, and people who are overwhelmed during a visit (there's a lot to learn and see before making such a big decision) usually don't remember to mention the couple of things that need fixing.

We are surrounded by boxes, but things are starting to find spaces, and it is going to be very good. My new computer desk alone (bought from another resident) is worth the move. So much space!

Hope you sleep better.

Have you been reading a lot of time travel novels recently?

Will Macmillan Jones (willmacmillanjones) | 11324 comments It's a bit torrential here this morning.

G J (Gaff to my friends) Reilly | 1836 comments Well, storm Erica's definitely arrived here, too.

Alicia Ehrhardt (aliciabutcherehrhardt) | 4841 comments Crisp here, but not too bad. Winter is the rainy season in California, and we need the rain, so I don't mind it. Plus there is plenty to do inside this gigantic, sprawling building - I don't have to go outside when it's raw.

Not sure they'll let me ride the adult tricycle inside, though.

message 9731: by Benjamin (new)

Benjamin Appleby-Dean (benjaminappleby-dean) Morning, all. Damp and cold here, but no storms.

Rosemary (grooving with the Picts) (nosemanny) | 8590 comments Rain's started here now too. Wind is getting up as well.

I wonder where your friend's card has been Lynne. Probably somewhere dull like the bottom of a post sack!

message 9733: by Jud (new)

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments How funny that the card is delivered from a year ago.

Morning

Picked up a small bunch of flowers from Tesco for a colleague who has been off work for the last 10 weeks after being run over! Forgot to pick up a card though which would have been a good idea for everyone to sign it. Oh well.

Less than an hour to go to reach master listening level on my audible. Can't believe I've listened to that much.

Lynne (Tigger's Mum) | 4643 comments I seriously began to doubt myself yesterday. My husband didn’t help by singing they’re coming to take you away haha.
I did have the wrong postcode it Shoukd have been SA4 6.. but I put SA6 4.. but still it was franked but lost somewhere.
My friend said she wanted to send me a handmade card for mine but the laugh there was she’d just missed it. My birthday was on Monday.
Storm Erik is blowing hard here. It’s not nice out at all. My daughter is a bit better but still off work. That means I get a lie in and no school run. Little lad stays for lunch as well so I’m redundant. 😀

Jay-me (Janet) | 3784 comments Happy Birthday Lynne.

Hope everyone is well. I am still meeting myself coming back. Mum has not been well over the last couple of weeks.

On a brighter note my niece is busy finishing her third book and the first book has just been translated into Swedish (so now children can read all about mindfulness with Millie the elephant in English, Welsh and Swedish)

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12605 comments Had a really rubbish night sleep, and is very wet and windy here. Supposed to be going to a different retail park tonight, but not sure I can be bothered! I was only going to get some more cat food and a mascara and I could order the food to collect from store next week. Keep getting a random error when trying to watch things taped off my internet channels, so far switching it off and on again is working, slightly odd bit is that the help function doesn’t work. Might ring them up this weekend.

Sorry that you have been unwell MT, glad it is wearing off. Glad you are fully in the new place, you may be surrounded by boxes, but at least you can now do it at your own pace. That is really mad Lynne. Happy belated birthday.

message 9738: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Blowing a hoolie here now. It was a good call to do the food shopping yesterday even though it was a rush from the cake club. I might bake more cheese scones this aft. It was a new recipe and they were brilliant. I looked online (as you do) and found an article from The Guardian in which the reporter had stated he always enjoys a cuppa and a cheese scone whenever he visits a N
ational Trust property. He decided to ask each place how they made them. So this was a composite recipe in a way. More cheese, no egg, half and half milk and water. Hmmm... hungry...

Anna Faversham (annafaversham) | 1752 comments My good wishes to all those who'd like them - I mean that! So many things going on that could do with getting better and I guess we all wish we could help.

Seems to me you'e mentioned not sleeping well a couple of times - I'm up in the middle of the night, so I commiserate.

M.T. McGuire (mtmcguire) | 8049 comments Happy birthday Lynne, loving the story about the card! Desley, sorry you got such a bad night, Kath, it's blowing a hoolie here too!

Dad has an assessment on Tuesday for his care, I just hope they can get him into the home near us. I was talking about it via email with his social worker when I suddenly got an out of office message. She comes back to work on Tuesday am and the meeting is at 11 so if I'm going to get there, I won't be able to talk to her again beforehand. She might have told me she was buggering off!

So I have half a conversation with her and no way of telling her no-one's coming.

Rolls eyes. On the up side, I've done some writing.

Cheers

MTM

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12605 comments Morning all, got woken up just before 6 by the wind and rain, have tried and failed to get back to sleep, but at least me and Lucy had nice cuddles in bed. Not much housework to do fortunately, was supposed to be going to a couple of the shops, but depends if the wind and rain die down. Didn't go to the big retail park yesterday, but did pop back to the one I went to on Wed to get something for my neighbour that I couldn't get from Aldi. Hoping to go tomorrow, weather depending.

Fingers crossed for a place for your dad MT. Hope the storm isn't affecting anyone too much. Can you send a couple of cheese scones Kath?

Yes, it's quite ironic, giving up my voluntary work hasn't helped my sleep, pain or psoriasis, so maybe it wasn't the cause as I thought.

Darren Humphries (darrenhf) | 6903 comments Good morning. A full weekend of getting the kids to whatever it is they're doing lies ahead and then back to work on Monday. I have assigned myself 3 minutes of down time in their somewhere.

Hope everyone else has a more restful time.

message 9749: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Morning! The wind is still gusting so hard that the first thing we did this morning was to check we still have a chicken run roof. We do. Gorgeous blue sky, but the recycling bin was half way down the front path. I shall not be venturing out more than that.

message 9750: by Jay-me (Janet) (new)

Jay-me (Janet) | 3784 comments It is a bit wet and breezy here and I have to venture out since Mum has been having midnight feasts of porridge (only one bowl last night but both previous nights there were two). As my sister said there’s nothing wrong with her appetite. She gets a two course meal at midday when she is at the daycare centre. Plus a mid morning breakfast and afternoon biscuits. As well as breakfast at home before leaving for the centre.

I will have to think of something filling for her meals for the weekend.

And find time to relax and read. The dog is relaxed. She woke up, got up, stretched, came downstairs and is now curled up snoring.
