looking back on it, I'm sure she wouldn't dream of it either before some muppet just asked her to hold it :-)

I'm not sure I'd do it if a random stranger asked me to! Its a lot different to being asked to catch a rabbit in your lunch break, downside of driving round with a cat carrier in your car! Poor thing was heavily pregnant, not sure how she outrun half a dozen people!

But actually I genuinely assumed she'd already held it to do what she'd done
Anyway she's a lady I've a lot of respect for, haven't a clue what her name is and I might not recognise her now if we met :-(

I still worry about them.

It does make you wonder how she got the weight off without touching the swan!

I'd probably hold a swan or try to) but only out of ignorance of why other people wouldn't dream of it.
Nathan's appointment went really well yesterday, he was straight over to the toys, built a block tower and completed the jigsaw. I was worried that he wouldn't know what to do with the jigsaw since I don't think I've ever sat down with him to do one but he didn't let me down! We have to go back when he is about 3 to make sure his speech is coming on okay, he's a wee bit lacking in words.
Hope you get your nap Desley :o) I could do with a nap too but I'll have to make do with coffee instead. Will have to wait till 11:30 for that. Stupid meetings.

I was sitting in a deck chair on the beach some years ago, on my own - only one other person on the beach, and a swan waddled up to me and sat alongside and stayed there until almost evening. I was in seventh heaven (I wonder where that is, must investigate). In recognition of its sterling service in keeping me company, I have included it in my current scribblings.
Hope everyone is getting better - whatever you have or are doing. Dentist tomorrow... haven't been for four years or so the surgery told me.

apparently she lay on the ground next to it!

I would be very wary of swans - they're hard!

Still not right, and of course, as I start to come out of it, K goes down with it.
Better news is that the repair of the barn damaged in November's storms has finally been scheduled by the builders.

I would be very wary of swans - they're hard!"
I was a complete coward, I didn't dare touch it. I wondered whether it regarded me as a wind break!
Mild here too and windows open for the same reason, Rosemary.

Sorry you've been ill Will, shame K has now caught it too. I did get a nap Jud

Feeling a bit bleary this morning, both kids woke during the night, poor Kitty was coughing for about half an hour.
Finally finished Nicholas Nickleby, 36 hours of listening, or thereabouts. Loved it though.
Hope everyone is well. I hope it's not conjunctivitis Ben and just a random gunky eye.
I forgot to have breakfast *sigh*

Still, it is sunny and I can feel the warmth on my back as I type - a great feeling.

Yes! They are no sooner over one than the next virus hits.

"That's a very expensive bunch of flowers, young lady. Your boyfriend must be very keen on you!"
"He is. But I'm her husband and I can't afford to buy those."

Hope your gunky eye isn't anything too bad Ben. Hope the kids sleep better tonight Jud. Absolutely no rush whatsoever to unpack Alicia.

Meanwhile Dad has come back to us. He is himself, he knew who I was in hospital, asked after McOther and asked after McMini, but if he goes home to Mum, he'll just stop sleeping and go psychotic again so he has to go into a home. It's ages since he knew that the house he was in was his actual home, he thought home was the house he was born in.
When the time comes, it's not going to be pretty. I reckon I'll get half an hour's warning, tops, before he's discharged and transported over there. He needs it arranged so we can have carers with him, so someone he knows hands him over. He needs stuff he recognises around him because anything else is inhuman. Not that the system gives a shit about that sort of rubbish. Compassion? Fuck off! And the nurses don't see him as human, they see him as that shouty sweary pain in the arse as I witnessed when I suggested they use my presence to help dress him and change his nappy and five frightened nurses came to help me. I hate the system. There's no fucking compassion because no bastard has time for it; not for Dad and certainly not for us.
So life is a chuffing joy at the moment. And now to cap it all, I have to drive my car with the headlights on at all times or the front right indicator won't work. Electrical fault. Undiagnosed as yet. And if it's the light unit it's going to cost £999.99 for the part. The mechanic said that if that's what it comes down to he suggests I just drive with the lights on and not do the work until I come to sell it. My kind of mechanic.
On the upside, I got out into the garden this afternoon and did some planting and trimming with a great deal of assistance from the cat. He does like to chase traily bits of stuff as they are carried to the bin.
Cheers

Sorry your kids are sick, Jud. I know they have to develop immunities, but it was always scary and exhausting to have a sick kid - especially when it goes on like that.
Thanks, Desley. But I've promised myself I'll get help if the unpacking keeps not happening. Problem is there is less room here to have someone in. But I can't live like this very long - I've been living out of a suitcase since last May!
MT, so sorry about your dad. That's hard. I hope they find a place convenient for you. And don't let them put you off about McMini - children need to be taken seriously. That sounds very worrisome.
Happy Valentine's Day!

Cheers
MTM

My sympathy, and we don't mind at all that you tell us all about it.

Cheers

It's as good a place to dump it as any
And dumping it in your blog is doing a lot of good, giving a lot of people the invaluable support of discovering they're not on their own
With your father it's obvious he has to be in a home.
With regard the nurses situation, it is a nightmare, I think too many people can become hardened to it all. Strangely I've seen less of that in care homes than hospitals. But I've talked to nurses and to them, the purpose of a hospital is to get well and leave. They know they struggle to cope with people who will never be well

Sorry about McMini.
Sun came out today and it was 11 degrees. The only way is up - singalonga.

Morning
I'm glad it's Friday and we're having our two nephews for a sleepover tonight, four kids aged 2, 3, 4 and 5. It's going to be chaos but I'm super excited about it!
Big hugs Mary, I can't imagine what it must be like to go through all that.

Now I have making up of beds and such like to keep me off street corners. Must make a birthday cake too, as it's daughter's day to celebrate on Monday
Have a good day. Friday's always a good day!

Now I have making up ..."
A joint of port? For feeding the kids? You surprise me, Kath :o)

Sorry about your father, MT, must be awful.

I'm going this evening, should arrive at midnight. I suppose I should think about getting up now.

So sorry that life has been so shit this week MT, do hope that McMini’s legs ease off quickly – could it be some kind of odd growing pains? Glad your dad is back to himself, and I hope when the time comes, it’s better than you currently imagine. Glad the mechanic has at least given you a workaround rather than charging you a load of money, my mechanic is like that too. You must be mad to be excited about 4 kids under the age of 5 Jud!

Safe trip. The weather here is glorious.

2. Tsundoku
Love buying books, but not too hot on actually reading them? Then you’re guilty of “tsundoku”.
The Japanese word describes a love of collecting reading materials but letting them pile up in your house without ever getting through them.
“Tsundoku” is a combination of numerous Japanese words: “tsunde,” which means to stack things; “oku,” which means to leave for a while; and “doku,” which means to read.

I should get up and wash the kitchen walls before it dries to concrete.
