M.T. McGuire (mtmcguire) | 8049 comments Mwahahahrgh! I could rant about autocorrect forever! My phone still thinks I’m more likely to be wanting to type, ‘thou’ over ‘you.’ And this is after two years of religiously deleting thou and putting you in. Grrr...

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Morning. Off to Leeds to meet a mate. Have a great day, each.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12603 comments Morning all had a fabulous evening, Kelly and her friends were lovely and the Peter James talk was really fascinating. Another sunny day, my nephew has a street dance lesson this morning, then going to my favourite garden centre, food shopping and not sure what else. I would rather type on my phone than my tablet.

Glad you arrived safely Lynne.

Lynne (Tigger's Mum) | 4643 comments Another lovely day, washed and cleared the top terrace of knee high pine needles. I hate that tree! My lovely neighbour swept all the little yard out for me and watered plants - she’s so kind. Out for dinner tonight, only round the corner so we can both have a glass of wine and stagger home.

Alicia Ehrhardt (aliciabutcherehrhardt) | 4839 comments Another weekend already. I don't know where the time goes.

Hope you find a cleaner soon, Patti. Too bad you can't assign the job to your OH.

I have two cylndrical wastebaskets woven from pine needles, Lynne. Indigenous peoples use what's available; mine come from Valle de Bravo, Mexico. They made the trip to California safely.

I'm generally impressed with the iPhone's spelling assistance, but when it's wrong, it is very, very wrong.

M.T. McGuire (mtmcguire) | 8049 comments Morning all, well... afternoon. We have guests this evening which I’d completely forgotten about so it comes as rather a nice surprise! Have tidied up the house ready and am now relaxing for a quiet minute or two before they turn up. Have also written a blog post, for anyone who’s interested.

It contains language of a profane nature.

Cheers

Kelly Clayton | 1040 comments Had a fabulous evening with Desley last night at the Peter James talk at the Opera House for the Jersey Festival of Words. We had a drink and a laugh with my mates beforehand. It is such a special experience to meet an online friend in person.

Poor Desley. I gave her a lift home! (Well, she got there eventually!)

Now, I'm not a bad driver but, hey, it's Jersey. That means there are a gazillion criss-crossed roads, lanes and parishes that you never, ever drive to - even in an island 9 miles by 5!

I tend to go to work, Waitrose, M&S, town and the airport. (I do know how boring that sounds!) We live in the south-east and we play there. A trip west, north or inland means we do get lost! The satnav often gets it wrong and doesn't always recognise Jersey addresses.

So . . . we had to go a tiny bit inland.

We followed the satnav, and that bit was quite easy, and Desley saved me when it was telling me to go the wrong way on a one-way street. It all went a bit pear-shaped after that. Luckily, Desley knew where we were, and we got back on track.

After I dropped Desley off I went the wrong way and did another loop past where I had just been! The signposts aren't that great!

Anyway, let's have a celebration to friendships.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12603 comments You can tell who the writer is Kelly! If it helps, my brother took a wrong turning today going to Ransoms! Had a lovely lunch there and brought cake home, first time I've not come home with a cat toy. Had a lovely day, although it appears I'm not good at letting a 5 year old win! One of the games is for 7+ and he did really well, I won 2 games by a fluke.

Sorry you got slightly lost going home, apparently few sat navs recognise it as a one way system. Why am I not surprised you forgot about guests coming MT?

How nice to meet in RL.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12603 comments Morning, up early as we are going to a car boot sale! Nephew has swimming this afternoon, not sure what we are doing for the rest of the day

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments I stayed in last night. Dave went out to watch the footie with the lads. Got in at 1am. Was a bit delicate this morning. So i dragged him to the supermarket. Cuz im mean like that.
He drunkenly invited the lads round for dinner tonight. Im making him do the cooking. Serves him right. Im not gonna do the clean up after either.
I did buy chocolate cake for pudding. Has milk in it so dave cant have any.

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Morning! Glad I'm not Dave - but then I wouldn't have been out at the footie!
Lovely time in Leeds with friend. Home inspired to write!

Jay-me (Janet) | 3784 comments Good morning
Hope everyone is ok
I’m Bringing Mum home from sister’s today
I had a fantastic time away in County Durham crafting with friends. Made loads of things, left the last one up there as it was drying and I forgot to collect it the next morning. Fortunately I’m going again in November.
Had a long journey down to west Wales and a couple of quiet days resting. Today we are going up to Aberaeon then going home from there.

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Sounds like a brilliant craft-meet, Janet. I think you energise one another working together. That's why small groups of authors meeting up is so good. You spark ideas off one another. Hope Mum's okay.

Yes it was fun from the moment I set off last Sunday. I’ll put photos on later

Mum is OK. We had a few times when she gets upset when she can’t remember what she is doing. But so far the cancer treatment seems to be working.

We’ve just seen a sparrowhawk in the garden.
Another thing I want when I move - not a sparrowhawk (although it would be nice) but a garden that birds visit.

Joseph, you might be in the wrong crowd for video game discussion. Maybe you should start a video game thread. I myself don't have a lot of time for games, but am a bit of a Destiny addict. My son's into Overwatch and Fortnite and COD and the like, so I hear a lot about those.

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Tim you're a gamer, aren't you?

Lovely evening with our friends. Its 9:30 now and i really ought to go to bed.

The a/c has been on in the lounge for hours and its still hot in here. 26. Sheesh.

Better get the a/c on in the bedroom if i hope to sleep tonight.

Lynne (Tigger's Mum) | 4643 comments Just off out for a dog walk, it’s still too hot really but if we leave it much longer it will be getting dark. Had a lovely meal last night.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12603 comments Well, had an interesting day, got some bargains at the car boot sale, then we chilled for a bit, took my nephew swimming, went for a drink in a pub near there, came across a chicken wandering round the beer garden (well, it is Jersey!), then went geocaching, got all 3! I found the second, we didn't have high hopes for the third as people had said it was hard but we found it. Going to groom my brothers cat when he wakes up, tea and chill.

G J (Gaff to my friends) Reilly | 1836 comments Morning all. Sun's out again. Cherishing every day of it before it goes away of the next six months. Mostly teaching technology this morning, which I'm useless at, so let's see how it goes.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12603 comments Morning all, another nice day. Unfortunately the workmen are tile cutting today. Plan is to go into town, do a bit of retail therapy, have some lunch, then a bit more shopping. Sister in law is home today, will be nice to see her.

Benjamin Appleby-Dean (benjaminappleby-dean) Morning, everyone, Had a bit of a weekend off everything in the hopes I'd be bright-eyed and bushy-tailed today, but instead I seem to be coming down with a cold. I feel like there's a lesson in there somewhere.

message 7879: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Morning. Just packing up granddaughter #1's birthday present for the post - she'll be 14! How the hell did that happen? Then calling in at the farm to collect my trug, left there full of apples. And I'll buy some bacon while I'm there.

Then, on with the writing!

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments Morning!

I'm trying to figure out Eventbrite and how to get it to produce an invite the way we want it. Might have to go for coffee soon. I think the guy beside me has already gone, if I had known I would have gone with him!

Looks like most people had a good weekend, ours was quite quiet. I was meant to go parading with the GB but I dropped out at the last minute due to a wardrobe malfunction.

✿Claire✿ (clairelm) | 2602 comments Hi. Had to say goodbye to Narla this morning. She was really struggling and there was nothing more they could do for her. I'm absolutely devastated, I feel so sorry I couldn't help her.

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments Oh no Claire, I'm so sorry. That's really sad :(

message 7884: by Jud (new)

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments Oh Claire, you did help her though. You did the only thing that was left to her to stop her suffering, it's so difficult and heart wrenching.

You loved her and that's all she needed.

Hugest hugs, be kind to yourself for the next wee while.

Oh no Claire, I’m so sorry. These things are always really hard. It’s probably no consolation but her last years were contented, loved and safe because of you and it’s clear from the pictures you posted that she knew she was loved.

Have a virtual hug.

Cheers

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12603 comments I'm so sorry to hear this Claire, but you did do something for her, you stopped her pain and took it on yourself, its the last act of kindness we can do for them. RIP little one and be kind to yourself Claire, grief works in funny ways x

Lynne (Tigger's Mum) | 4643 comments So sorry Claire, it’s heartbreaking when they go. Big hug.

Lynne (Tigger's Mum) | 4643 comments The hailstorm and thunder here last night was spectacular. Half an hour earlier dog walking was almost too hot for them. The hailstones were biggest I’ve ever seen apart from on the TV reports. They were bigger than really big marbles. The kiddies coming out if school were squealing when it started with the normal sized hail, but those must have really hurt. Most people have zinc gutters so the noise was deafening. There was part of a tree across 3 cars last night and the temperature dropped from about 25 to 8.

G J (Gaff to my friends) Reilly | 1836 comments Sorry to hear your news, Claire :-(

Overcast with the promise of rain in the valley today. Mostly art. It's going to be a long day.

message 7896: by Benjamin (new)

Benjamin Appleby-Dean (benjaminappleby-dean) Morning, everyone. No thunder here last night, but the wind was fierce enough that I had to shut all the windows and rescue the washing,

message 7897: by Jud (new)

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments Morning.

Sounds almost film worthy Lynne! Hope everyone is okay.

Our train was heaving this morning, it is usually fairly empty at our station but it was packed, no seat for me today. It was so packed I didn't even have room to read my book! Worst train journey ever.

message 7898: by David (new)

David Hadley I'm so sorry to hear this Claire.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12603 comments Morning all, had a lovely day yesterday, chai latte from my favourite place, got some bargains, had lunch from the place I found on Thu, bit more shopping and finished my book in the sun. Did contemplate getting a lift home from my brother but challenged myself and found a way home with no problem. Very overcast today, we are taking the cat to the vet at 12, not sure what to do this afternoon, then going out for tea as it's my last night

Listening to an audiobook as I wait for Mum to get ready to take to daycare.
I’ve put a couple of photos of my creations from last week.

Weather damp but has just started to get very windy.
