message 7752: by ✿Claire✿ (new)

✿Claire✿ (clairelm) | 2602 comments Narla's now at the hospital getting oxygen and IV treatment for fluid on her lungs. Feel awful that I didn't realise she was showing symptoms earlier. Had an update from them though that was a bit more positive than I was expecting when I left her so fingers crossed the IV stuff does its job.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12602 comments Don't feel too guilty Claire, cats are conditioned to hide symptoms, it's how they survive. Hope she continues to improve

M.T. McGuire (mtmcguire) | 8049 comments It’s clearly ill cat for Britain week. Harrison had a fight with a squirrel last night, just as we were about to go out. We think it bit his paw as he was limping and bleeding everywhere. He seemed reasonably chipper so we rinsed it with warm salty water as that’s supposed to be a good antisceptic, locked him in the house and went out. He is fine but he was very loving this morning so I think it’s probably a bit stiff and sore. I’ll keep an eye and if he suddenly starts to go all quiet I’ll take him to the vet. Chewie, his predecessor, often used to get infected bites so at least I know what to look for.

Raining here.

Morning all.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12602 comments Sun is starting to come out, so might be a nice day. Got a bit of housework left, and some pottering for my hols. Then a nice soak in the bath.

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Morning! Intending to make pecan and maple syrup chelsea buns this aft. Shouldn't watch Bake-off.

message 7761: by ✿Claire✿ (new)

✿Claire✿ (clairelm) | 2602 comments Thank you everyone. Had an update from the hospital, Narla's doing much better, they want to keep her in another night but I can go visit her in a few hours. Can't wait for a cuddle!

Think this week has just been a generally crap week all round. Storm Ali brought a tree down in the playground of the school my Mum works in, minutes after the children were called inside for lunch and my mum got to our drive just up the road. So glad noone was hurt. Hoping for a better week this week!!

Hope everyone's doing ok this weekend.

Pam Baddeley | 3334 comments Congrats on the house sale at last, Will.

Great that you're slowly improving Tim.

Good to hear that Narla is on the mend. That was scarey about the tree.

Hope I haven't missed anyone out!

Lynne (Tigger's Mum) | 4643 comments Hi all, hope your baking turns out better than mine Kath. I made bread yesterday as I do every week and it’s just didn’t rise. Could use them for door stops so I did some more today and got matching door stops. Even the birds are reluctant to eat it.
My brother in law phoned today and told my OH how he’d been scammed this week. He’d been having messages on his computer to say he had a virus for a few days. He kept closing everything down and checking his computer but these messages kept coming in. Then he had a call from BT to say the WiFi box had a virus. You can guess the rest. It wasnt BT and somehow with the info he gave them his email & bank accounts were hacked. He hasn’t lost anything as he did phone Nationwide from my sisters phone so didn’t complete the fraud. (They told him to ring his bank but they are on the line so you think you are ringing your bank but in fact it’s part of the scam.) Nationwide confirmed onfirmed it was a scam and had blocked transactions for 500 from his savings and a lot more from his other account, He’s dealing with the police and the banks now, but he’s thoroughly upset to think he could have been tricked.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12602 comments Well, neighbour asked if I wanted to go with her to Botany Bay to drop her granddaughter off, so said yes, had a nice wander, didn't buy much but we did have late lunch there, I had a vegi Yorkshire pudding wrap, it was classed as cheese and roasted veg, it had cheese, mash, carrots and peas! The gravy looked a bit suspicious though, when questioned they had put the meat on rather than vegetarian! We had quite a downpour when coming home, but sun is back out now, looking forward to a bath. Have started packing, just need to iron some stuff.

Glad Narla is doing well, am sure she will enjoy seeing you. Glad that the children were safe. Glad your brother in law realised and his bank stopped it.

Tim | 8539 comments Had a very nice relaxing bath this afternoon, followed by a nice sit in front of the TV with the dressing off. Got a new dressing on now, but I don't think it'll be too long before the dressing can stay off permanently ...

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12602 comments Great news Tim

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Good Monday morning, all!

We may have internet in our flat in the next couple of weeks, so I'm hoping normal service will resume soonish.
Bloody busy day today. I've got only one free lesson and a staff meeting after school.
Better crack on...

message 7771: by Alicia (new)

Alicia Ehrhardt (aliciabutcherehrhardt) | 4838 comments Must be Fall - everyone is settling into the new school year, even those of us without offspring currently in school.

Or maybe energy comes back when it gets a bit cooler.

Good luck on getting internet, Patti, but it's good to know you have 'our flat,' too, and are getting into the swing of things at your new school.

Tim - hope the healing continues without further ado.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12602 comments Morning all, struggled to get up this morning. Only in work 3 days, yay! Need to print off boarding passes and car parking.

Hope you get internet sorted Patti

Jim | 21812 comments gorgeous morning here. Bit chill

message 7774: by Benjamin (new)

Benjamin Appleby-Dean (benjaminappleby-dean) Morning, all. Struggling with being back at work after only a two-day week last week.
Cold kind of day, but clear.

G J (Gaff to my friends) Reilly | 1836 comments Morning all. Well, it's Monday again, so time to make the most of the sunshine to inspire bright young minds.

message 7776: by Jud (new)

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments Morning!

Why are weekends so short?

Fighting a migraine this morning, already taken all the drugs I can but I have a feeling that I'll need to take more later. I wish Nathan would stop waking during the night, I shouted at him at 5am for picking at my belly button while feeding (most annoying thing in the world!) and he started properly sobbing, cue mum guilt.

Glad you are making such improvements Tim! Must be a relief.

I hope Narla is on the mend now too, Claire.

I made friands last week, they were delicious. I'm always tempted by what they make on Bake Off but I've never made anything from the series. Maybe I should!

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12602 comments Hmm, realised it was a tad cold when I opened the window for the girls, but was shocked when I got in the car to find a warning light cos it was only 2!

Will Macmillan Jones (willmacmillanjones) | 11324 comments An email today from BT:

We have decided that more work needs doing to complete your new service than we thought, and your appointment for the 18 Sept. will not now take place. We shall contact you shortly in this regard.

BT, on the ball as ever...

message 7779: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Morning! Good news, Tim! Typical news Will. I just answered a call with a recorded American female voice purporting to come from BT to tell me my internet was compromised. Might have been worried if it were not for the fact that Hull owns its own lines.

Went into town (Hull) to take back a new top - only washed once - from M&S. Seam had come adrift. They changed it very willingly. While I was there I decided I'd do a bit of C-word shopping. I remembered why I don't go there to shop. Deary me. All charity shops, coffee bars and cheapo shops. There was nothing for me there.

message 7780: by Tim (new)

Tim | 8539 comments Must have had 20 calls from her on my answering machine when I got out of hospital!

Fell over on my walk this morning - misjudged a kerb. Fortunately I landed on wet grass, so no damage. Still doused myself in dettol when I got home though!

Except to your pride. Adults hate falling. It's so toddler-like.

Glad you're okay.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12602 comments Glad you didn't do any damage Tim! Glad BT eventually contacted you Will!

message 7783: by Will (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Good morning!

So glad you're home, Tim. Not sure of your choice of cologne, though.
Where is your new place, Will? Any closer to Barry for visits?
How's Narla, Claire?

Things here are rolling along. The year 4s are out on a school trip today, so I've got a couple of extra free lessons. I'm using them to look for free downloadable resources.
I really need some books in my classroom. ergh.

message 7785: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21812 comments why no books Patti?

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12602 comments Morning all, struggled to get up again. Hoping for a quiet day at work, then petrol and checking tyres after work

Can't believe you have no books in your classroom Patti

Rosemary (grooving with the Picts) (nosemanny) | 8590 comments Morning all, I have had a stinking cold all weekend but more or less back to normal now. Managed to be quite productive though as I wasn't fit enough to do anything except sit and paint.

Dreamt I pulled one of my back teeth out last night. With my fingers. Not sure if that means seven years of famine or what

G J (Gaff to my friends) Reilly | 1836 comments Morning all. Bit chilly in the valley this morning but the tuns out. I’m sure it’ll warm up soon.

Glad you didn’t do any extra damage there, Tim. Hope you can find something more suitable, Kath.

Mostly Maths and English for me today. Must try to brush up on my algebra.

L.A. Kent | 3925 comments Morning alls. Splendid here today - sunny and warm too in Cornwall. I tried 4 GOT episodes a while back, could see it was pretty well made, but too many stories were going on for me! Too much like hard work, so not watched it since.

message 7793: by Elizabeth (last edited Sep 25, 2018 02:27AM) (new)

Elizabeth White | 1761 comments Morning everyone.

I feel better for reading all the uplifting news - the scion of the house was over for late dinner on Saturday and I was just dishing up when I heard a thud in the lounge. Himself had fallen over and managed to break his kneecap in the process. Way to spend part of himself's birthday celebration(Sat) and our wedding anniversary (Sun)! Silly man kept apologising while on the floor in agony if he moved! Anyway, he's in hospital and we're waiting to see if a splint will allow the bone to knit together rather than having surgery. Hopefully the physios will get him mobile enough to come home shortly.

I've decided all the upheaval in the past year has caused my writing mojo to run off and join Tim's.

message 7794: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Oh, lumme, Elizabeth. Just what you don't need - nor does he!

I've been out in the greenhouse collecting up the dried pods of my Bird's Egg climbing bean. They grow outside but when they're mature I dry them on the greenhouse staging and use them in winter casseroles, cassoulets and chillies. Need to shell them all out so that'll be my afternoon job.

All take care!

message 7795: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21812 comments that's a beggar Elizabeth, hope he's back on his feet soon

message 7796: by Jud (new)

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments That's bad timing Elizabeth! I hope he can avoid the surgery.

Think I'm going to head out for a coffee now, I need assistance with staying awake.

message 7797: by Will (new)

Will Macmillan Jones (willmacmillanjones) | 11324 comments BT were booked for last week, didn't turn up. Told to await info by tomorrow, an engineer arrived this morning...

Organised? Yeah right.

Patti, I'm afraid I'm further away from Barry. K has a smallholding just outside Aberaeron, and we are living there.

message 7798: by M.T. (new)

M.T. McGuire (mtmcguire) | 8049 comments Aberaeron is a lovely word to say if you are reading it and an English philistine who doesn't know how it should be pronounced.

Elisabeth, that sounds grim, I hope his nibs is home soon.
Tim, lucky escape there! ;-)

Cracking day here, good for a walk which was lucky as I locked my bike to a lamp post in town and then remembered that I'd left my keys in the garage door and then closed the back gate, locking myself out of the garden. Had to borrow a ladder from the cobblers opposite so I could lean over and open the gate because my knees are too bollocksed to climb over the wall these days. Then it was back up to town to collect my bike, finish my shopping, pay in a cheque for my dad and after all that, I've only been home half an hour.

It would be nice to say this doesn't happen much but I'd be lying, I do it once or twice every school term. Sigh.

Morning all.

Cheers

MTM

Now, is it because you refuse to grow up that it happens or do you not grow up because of it?

Being responsible 24/7 is overrated.

Being responsible is overrated, I'll grant you, but it would be nice to be a bit less of a dunderhead.
