Back home - and at work - after 3 weeks at the seaside with the usual really complicated intenrnet connection - I have to say that Bog Child by Siobhan Dowd has been the best read I've sone this Summer.

PattyMacDotComma This is a very short read that I'm sure you'd all enjoy by much-loved, Nobel Prize-winning author Toni Morrison, who died recently.

Sweetness is available free online. I included a link to the discussion which also has the link to the story.

PattyMacDotComma Such a classic Agatha Christie mystery! M. Hercule Poirot solves the impossible crime again in Murder on the Orient Express. You should exercise your own little brain cells with this one if you haven’t already. :)

Petra | 3324 comments I finished two books today and enjoyed both a lot.

The Contract With God Trilogy: Life on Dropsie Avenue (4-star) - I enjoyed this look at Faith, contemplation, immigration & change told with one location, Dropsie Avenue, as the background.

The Word Is Murder (4-star; audio) = a fun murder mystery. It's not often that one can chuckle through murder.

PattyMacDotComma If you ever needed an example of two over-used words, resilience and resourcefulness, A Tree Grows in Brooklyn is it! Betty Smith's classic story of childhood before World War One is barely disguised as fiction. How her mother turned bread into so many different meals is hard to imagine!

I've been meaning to read it forever, but it was the August group read in Catching up on Classics that prompted me to finally do it, and I'm so glad I did Nidhi. I loved it - hope you do, too. :)
