I finished Typhoon by Joseph Conrad a couple days ago, and I ended up really liking it. There were some parts in the middle where I wasn't sure, but the beginning and end were very strong for me; also, his description of the storm itself was amazingly powerful and visceral.

Tamara Agha-Jaffar | 1415 comments I finished Three Day Road by Joseph Boyden. It was one of the books recommended to me in the Recommendation Swap.

I recommend it for those who like WWI historical fiction. But the descriptive passages of fighting in the trenches is immersive and full of graphic details of the carnage, so it may not be for everyone. It's not the type of book I usually read, but I thought it was well done.

I think that's what I like about when I participate in the recommendation swap. I end up reading things I wouldn't have ordinarily thought to pick up.

I feel the same way, Greg. It's actually one of my favorite things to do on Goodreads. I'm loving it.

I enjoyed this book, too. There's a sequel which I remember being good as well: Pigs in Heaven.

Chrissie I have completed two books. First, Becoming which has kept me occupied for quite few days. I simply never wanted to put it down.

My review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

Then Jan, a friend here at GR, gave me a link to a BBC drama performance of a newly discovered Edith Wharton play--The Shadow of a Doubt: A Play in Three Acts. As soon as I finished the first I listened to the other. Both I have given four stars. Both I highly recommend.

A fee online link to the play is in my review.

What a great day! Two four star books in a row!
