Didn't he act in the series but not write them? I am interested in Miss Subway too,

I read Women & Power: A Manifesto by Mary Beard.I thought it was good as far as it goes, but I wish she had developed it a little more by suggesting how we can transform the power structure to make it more conducive to feminist principles.

I usually enjoy the Quarterly Essay series and recently finished Moment of Truth: History and Australia's Future by Mark McKenna. The essay covers what to me is Australia's big issue, the needs and demands of the First Nations, the original inhabitants of the country. Interesting and thought-provoking but I felt it left a few things unanswered. Here’s my review
Read book 1 of Tanith Lee's Secret Books of Paradys - The Book of the Damned and reviewed it - https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/2432456016.

Finished Cecità by José Saramago.
A real masterpiece. Terribly describing how cruel mankind can be ... It recalled me a bit Lord of the Flies

Phrynne, I wasn't that keen on it, either.
I read There There, an incredibly powerful novel about urban Native Americans. It is Tommy Orange's debut novel and it is spectacular. It's one of the best books I've read all year. The voice is strong, full of rage, and gut-wrenching. Highly recommended. My five-star review.

I have mixed feelings about it. I thought it was well done, but I was uncomfortable with the portrayal of Arabs and Muslims.
