Thank you! That looks like something I'd love to read. Will put it on my list.
Have you read Sour Milk in Sheep's Wool? It's my favorite book of the year, maybe ever. It's also about how women were treated about 100 years ago, and how much they fought for their rights. It's SO good.

PattyMacDotComma I was surprised to learn I was a bit mistaken about the significance of the actual date, June 19. The Juneteenth Story: Celebrating the End of Slavery in the United States by Alliah L. Agostini set me straight in this well-illustrated book for kids (and ignorant grown-ups like me).

Tamara Agha-Jaffar | 1410 comments I read Out Stealing Horses by Per Petterson; translated from the Norwegian by Anne Born.
A sixty-seven-year old man moves to an isolated village in Norway and reflects on his life. It was a poignant and compelling meditation on aging and loss. I loved it.

PattyMacDotComma Sherlock Holmes Retold for Children by Alex Woolf with illustrations by Eve O'Brien is a terrific set of classic stories that can be enjoyed by all ages. This is a 16-book box set of chapter books, but there are singles and audios and small sets, too. All libraries should have them!

PattyMacDotComma I am very fond of Aussie author Emma Viskic's Caleb Zelic, but this is said to be the deaf investigator's last story. (I tweeted to her that Kat and the ancestors will pester her to continue!) Those Who Perish is excellent, and I want more!

PattyMacDotComma Euphoria is a lovely state if you can achieve it. Lily King's Nell Stone (a fictional version of anthropologist Margaret Mead ) does get carried away with her studies of primitive societies, but this book is more about jealousy and desire in her own. Fascinating setting, research, and characters.

PattyMacDotComma That clever femme-fatale Phryne Fisher solves all kinds of crimes in these short stories, The Lady with the Gun Asks the Questions, by Aussie author Kerry Greenwood. One for fans of the fabulous Miss Fisher.

Tamara Agha-Jaffar | 1410 comments I read Pandora's Jar: Women in the Greek Myths by Natalie Haynes.
A feminist exploration of famous women in Greek mythology. Haynes interrogates the patriarchal lens with which these women have been viewed and offers a refreshing and more nuanced interpretation. An enjoyable read and recommended for those interested in Greek mythology.
