It's an Instagram challenge to read e-books and listen to audiobooks owned prior to the start of the challenge. Run by @readwithria. It's the sister challenge to Shrink the Shelf, to read physical books owned prior to the start of the challenge. Run by @kates.book.nook.

Congrats, Elyse!

Really like that you have a mix of lighter reads (like graphic novels) along with some audiobooks - it helps me a lot to start and get on with reading during the readathon!

Leni Iversen (leniverse) | 566 comments How do you like the Dark Tower series? I plan on reading that next year. Unlike your Kingtober, I read King at a rate of one book per month. About to start The Green Mile for this this month.
And yay, Sandman! That reminds me that I need to select a Neil Gaiman for the readathon. I've done all the Sandman now. Trying to convince my youngest that he should read The Graveyard Book.

I don't love the Dark Tower series. Every book has taken an age for me to get through and I haven't really enjoyed them. lol. Hence why I haven't touched one since 2018!
I am excited for Sandman however! I haven't read The Graveyard Book either but I think I own it.

I have a few Stephen King books on my TBR stacks too this month. I started Dreamcatcher this week, and want to finish Cujo later this month. I read all the ones you chose for October. I really enjoyed the Dark Tower series, though it got bogged down a bit in the middle for me.

Erin *Proud Book Hoarder* (erinpaperbackstash) | 1444 comments Welcome back - you started planning super early this time on the 1st!

I love King as well. Want to read his Mr Mercedes series and have Holly to read later, also was in a Dark Tower re-read of the series and need to get back to that eventually

I would think Cycle of the Werewolf would be a nice eye break since I'm assuming you have graphic novel and image version

I've seen the Dreamcatcher movie but still have to read the book. I read Cujo for a previous Kingtober Dewey's, it was good but not as scary as I thought it would be! I don't generally find animals to be scary in books. I need monsters. lol.

Thank you Ann! The baby has quite the start on his own little library! We asked for books instead of cards for the baby shower and many people gave more than one book, he's probably got over 50 now!! And we haven't bought any ourselves!

I did start planning early but have done no planning since that post. lol. And it's now just days away! But I'm too tired to plan anything else so the rest will just be winging it.
I enjoyed the Mr. Mercedes trilogy. It's very dark. I read If It Bleeds by Stephen King in September to catch up on Holly's life as there is a lengthy short story in it about her and I had also previously read The Outsider by Stephen King but having a short story refresh was quite nice. The short story reiterates a lot of events from The Outsider and continues that storyline. I'm buddy reading Holly (Holly Gibney, #6) by Stephen King starting on Sunday in another group!

Elyse (winesaboutbooks) | 2454 comments I'll be making another trip to the grocery store on Friday but I bought some stuff yesterday so I'm not sure what I might add to the menu.

Drinks
Water
Pepsi & Caffeine-Free Pepsi
Yogi Tangerine Tea (it's been giving me heartburn so I stopped drinking it, hoping that I was just drinking it too often, we'll see!)
Decaf coffee K-Cup or Chai Latte K-Cup (if the tea doesn't work out and I need something warm)
Body Armor drink (high on the electrolytes and potassium!)

Snacks (got my sweet tooth back 🤣)
Cheese and Crackers
Green Grapes
Lay's Stax
Pretzel Flipz White Fudge
Peanut Butter M&M's (a readathon tradition is peanut but I opted for peanut butter instead!)
Fun-size Snickers
Skittles

Breakfast
English Muffin with Peanut Butter or Chex cereal

Lunch
Leftover Barbacoa Steak Tacos

Supper
Barbecue Chicken Pizza (craving!)

Elyse (winesaboutbooks) | 2454 comments Weather will be high 50's and 90% chance of rain tomorrow and Sunday. Super cozy but will also make me tired! Grocery shopping is done, I didn't add anything to tomorrow's menu. I've got 2 current books Riven (Riven, #1) by Mindee Arnett The London Séance Society by Sarah Penner I'd like to finish today, less than 25% on each to finish. I want to go to bed early but since quitting my job, I've been going to bed around midnight and waking up between 9-10am since July! So going to bed earlier might be a struggle. I'd like to get up at 7am to check in here, Instagram, get the doggo all set, shower to wake up, have some breakfast. We'll see. I didn't sleep well last night due to late eating and subsequent indigestion basically all night. So maybe going to bed early *will* work out! Happy reading everyone!

Erin *Proud Book Hoarder* (erinpaperbackstash) | 1444 comments I also want to get up at 7 am prepare, we will see. I was hoping to finish a book this week before but have been so busy have actually had little time to read. I am going out this evening now that work is done, so probably wont finish the silence of the lambs re-read tonight either, leaving just one thing undone on the pre-bingo. Oh well at least there's this weekend dedicated to reading, right?

I'm really enjoying The Green Mile and Wizard and Glass is not unbearable. lol. I'll be starting a buddy read of Holly today as well.
