Ciri (The Constant Reader) wrote: "So is 24 in 48 meaning you read 24 books in that time? Or do I have that totally wrong?"

You have to read during 24 hours in 2 days (48 hours). So you have an entire weekend to read dring 24 hours.

I guess so! The Fowl Twins came out in November and I won a copy from BookishFirst.com. I haven't read any AT books.

Abbey (abbeyhauser) | 194 comments El Deafo is AMAZING!! I'm a huge disability lit fan, especially as someone who volunteers with a lot of kiddos with muscular dystrophy (and I have a chronic illness myself). I gifted this book to one of my campers who wears hearing aids and her mom said she read it twice that first day! I recommend it to everyone!

So excited to have you back!

I've been trying to read it since I bought it and haven't been able to fit it in but I'm definitely reading it tomorrow! Thanks!

Elyse (winesaboutbooks) | 2454 comments With all of the everything going on and work being super busy regardless of COVID-19, I've decided to have a no-pressure, stress-free 24-hour readathon. I will NOT be reading for 24 hours. First, I have never been able to and second, I am purposely not going to try. Because at this time, it's not worth the pressure I put on myself! I'm gloing to read as much as I WANT to and that's that. I always feel competitive during these readathons and this time I'm not going to. I probably won't do the Bingo board, at least not pick books based on the board. I probably won't post on the Hourly Discussion threads. I may not even check in after every 4-hour block like I usually do. I just want to keep myself relaxed. I may post on Instagram (@weezielemoo) here and there. I very much enjoy that part! :)

I took today off from work, slept in a little (well more than I would if I had to get up for work), went grocery shopping (not fun!), prepped some food, took the dogs for a walk, caught up on my emails and Goodreads notifications, and played Animal Crossing! I'm ready for bed now. lol.

I'm in the middle of three books but I may be shoving them off till Sunday. Still haven't decided yet.
The Fallen Kingdom 50% through
Consumed 50% through
Never Cry Wolf: The Amazing True Story of Life Among Arctic Wolves 10% through

"Finalized" TBR (because, really, is it every finalized? lol)
This year I've decided to pull out all some of the books from previous Dewey's reading lists that I still haven't read. Plus added more, naturally.

Audio (though going to try not to do any audio)
Emma: An Audible Original Drama (480 pgs)
The Man on the Mountaintop (203 pgs)

E-Book
Star Wars Omnibus: X-Wing Rogue Squadron, Vol. 1 (296 pgs)
Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex 1 (256 pgs)
Wake Up, Wanda Wiley (154 pgs)
Daisy Kutter: The Last Train (192 pgs)

Physical
El Deafo (233 pgs)
The Complete Maus (296 pgs)
Y: The Last Man - The Deluxe Edition Book One (256 pgs)
The Girl Who Soared Over Fairyland and Cut the Moon in Two (248 pgs)
The Fowl Twins (354 pgs)
Preludes & Nocturnes (240 pgs)
The Doll's House (232 pgs)

Hoopla
Break Your Glass Slippers (160 pgs)
+ 26 comics/graphic novels that don't count against the monthly borrow limit! I will only add them if I read them

And finally, the sustenance for the day:
Breakfast
Coffee and/or tea
Pancakes, bacon, clementine
Lunch
Blood orange iced tea made on Friday
Italian pasta salad made on Friday
Supper
Pepsi
Some variation of Italian sub (deli ham, salami, capicola, mozzarella cheese, provolone cheese, lettuce, green peppers, black olives, peperoncini, homemade Italian vinaigrette)
Snacks
Water/tea/iced tea/coffee as needed
Sliced veggies and dip aka crudités
Clementines
Cheese, pepperoni, and crackers
Sargento Breakfast Breaks (good for more than breakfast!)
Mike & Ikes/fun-size Snickers/Riesens (if chocolate is needed)
Apple bread (was supposed to make this last readathon and finally made it last week. Pulled the second loaf out of the freezer today)

Well, that's all folks! See you in the morning! Or whatever time it will be for you. ;) Planning on waking up an hour before start time to get settled and get the dogs settled. It's going to be a beautiful day!

Hi Elyse. Looking forward to seeing which of these books you will read this Deweys. I was impressed by Preludes & Nocturnes. The argument in Hell is perfect. I keep saying I will read more Neil Gaiman. Maybe a Deweys tradition might work. . . .
See you tomorrow :-)

Elyse (winesaboutbooks) | 2454 comments Opening Survey
1) What fine part of the world are you reading from today? New Hampshire
2) Which book in your stack are you most looking forward to? El Deafo
3) Which snack are you most looking forward to? All the snacks!!
4) Tell us a little something about yourself! I'm an introvert so social distancing is normal!
5) If you participated in the last read-a-thon, what’s one thing you’ll do different today? If this is your first read-a-thon, what are you most looking forward to? Less pressure on myself to make it to 24 hours. I just need a relaxing day of reading.

Morning! Woke up at 6:15 and couldn't get back to sleep. Booo. But I did still get 8 hours of sleep so that's good! Never did pull out my physical stack last night so doing that before starting time! 3 minutes!

And I think I'm going to start with El Deafo by Cece Bell !

Abbey (abbeyhauser) | 194 comments Nice work!! How'd you like El Deafo? You've inspired me to make some Iced Tea today! I brought home my favorite tea (Tazo Zen, a lemongrass spearmint green tea) and it tastes amazing over ice. I completely forgot I packed it until you mentioned iced tea. I do love English Breakfast Tea over ice too, which luckily we still have some at my parents home from last time I was here. I'm still getting used to not having all my usual food around me now that I'm back home.

It's in the 60s and sunny here today too, so it was simply fantastic to spend so much time reading outside this morning.
