Oh my gosh this list is amazing!! I don't know how I'm going to pick from this! I should for sure read The Space Between since it's relatively short and on my Kindle. In Bed with a Highlander and The Darkest Hour look intriguing. I'd love to read Comanche Heart... the first book was go good!
Thank you so much, MountainKat, and I hope you enjoy Outlander because that is a series near and dear to my heart, plus the Starz series starts August 9!!

message 161: by Daffodil (last edited Jun 26, 2014 01:37AM) (new)

Daffodil (daffodil--ripcranberry) | 1058 comments Leslie I enjoyed looking through your shelves and I hope you enjoy your picks. Just let me know if there are any problems.

1. Recommend a book from one of your go-to author or a comfort read book.
Sea Swept by Nora Roberts (tbr) -- This still remains one of my favorite series from Nora Roberts. You definitely should start it.
Murder With Peacocks by Donna Andrews (new) -- I'm always guaranteed a laugh when I pick up one of the Meg Langslow mysteries. You never know what her wacky family is going to do next. There is a romance that develops over the series.

2. Recommend a book with a colorful cover (at least 2 different colors)
Morning Glory by LaVyrle Spencer (new) -- I didn't see any of Spencer's books on your shelves and would definitely recommend her to any romance lover. Be warned, it has an emotional impact.
For the Love of Pete by Julia Harper (new) -- This was recommended to me a few months ago and it was pure fun to read.

3. Recommend a longer book from your pickee's TBR or preferred shelf.
Tender Rebel by Johanna Lindsey (tbr) -- It's been a while, but I still remember how much I loved all of the Malory Family books.
Cry No More by Linda Howard (tbr) -- Linda Howard is another of my favorite authors and I love this book. Just be prepared for an emotional read.
Dragonfly in Amber by Diana Gabaldon (tbr)-- I haven't started this series yet, but I'd like to before the new TV series gets started.

4. Pick a book that is a next in the series they have already started.
Shield of Winter by Nalini Singh (tbr) -- One of my favorite series, this is at the top of my to-buy list.
Soul Song by Marjorie M Liu (tbr) -- I just started this series last year. I'm one book behind you and have enjoyed it so far.

5. Recommend a book that has a nerdy or take charge kind of lead character or a futuristic/dystopic/apocalytic book.
Beach House No. 9 by Christie Ridgway(tbr) -- I have not read this, but I'm assuming a war journalist would be take-charge kind of guy.
Nerd in Shining Armor by Vicki Lewis Thompson (new) -- another fun read

6. Recommend a book that you've recommended successfully before (i.e one that your pickee has read and liked it. It need not be a PIFM rec)
Tell Me No Lies by Elizabeth Lowell (new) -- This is one of my all time favorite Eliabeth Lowell books and is a stand-alone. You've enjoyed other books by her, so I would suggest giving this one a try.
Abby Cooper, Psychic Eye by Victoria Laurie (new) -- I love this mystery series and the romance that slowly develops over the course of it.

7. Pick a book from your pickee's shelf that catches your eye.
Feral Sins by Suzanne Wright (tbr) -- That wolf on the cover just grabs your attention. I haven't read this yet, though it is sitting on my TBR.
Louisiana Longshot by Jana Deleon (tbr) -- this looks interesting

8. Recommend a classic or a book that you think is a classic that your pickee should read.
The Scarlet Pimpernel by Emmuska Orczy (new) -- A fun read, one of my favorite classics.

Sea Swept (Chesapeake Bay Saga, #1) by Nora Roberts Murder With Peacocks (Meg Langslow, #1) by Donna Andrews Morning Glory by LaVyrle Spencer For the Love of Pete by Julia Harper Tender Rebel (Malory-Anderson Family, #2) by Johanna Lindsey Cry No More by Linda Howard Dragonfly in Amber (Outlander, #2) by Diana Gabaldon Shield of Winter (Psy-Changeling, #13) by Nalini Singh Soul Song (Dirk and Steele, #6) by Marjorie M. Liu Beach House No. 9 (Beach House No. 9, #1) by Christie Ridgway Nerd in Shining Armor (Nerds, #1) by Vicki Lewis Thompson Tell Me No Lies by Elizabeth Lowell Abby Cooper, Psychic Eye (Psychic Eye Mystery, #1) by Victoria Laurie Feral Sins (The Phoenix Pack, #1) by Suzanne Wright Louisiana Longshot (Miss Fortune Mystery #1) by Jana Deleon The Scarlet Pimpernel by Emmuska Orczy

I haven't read any of the Gemini series so I will have to start with the first but they sound really good. And this is the perfect reason to FINALLY pick up Iced because I have put it off forever because of Dani's age.

Daffodil (daffodil--ripcranberry) | 1058 comments Thanks for the great picks Breann, I'm still trying to decide what to read. I need to get going on Cole's series, so I'll probably read Dark Needs at Night's Edge (Immortals After Dark, #5) by Kresley Cole . I'm also considering Archangel's Legion (Guild Hunter, #6) by Nalini Singh . Then I'll have to see which of your new selections I can get my hands on, a couple of them look interesting.

message 172: by [deleted user] (new)

Hi Arielle , here are your picks , I hope you like them :)
Goal Keeper: Goalkeeper's main role is to stop the other team from scoring. They also don't (usually) move from their penalty area.
1. Law Man(new)- I just read it , its gone straight to my favorite books , and KA is deinitely a go to author for me now. also Wildest Dreams
2. Never Seduce a Scot(TBR)

Defender: Defender's main responsibility is to support their team and prevent other teams from scoring a goal.
3. Outlander- Heard a lot about this book and even I am going to be reading it next month.

Midfielder: Midfielders are the link between the defence and the forwards.
4. If Only
5. Ready Player One

Forward: Forwards mainly score goals or create a scoring opportunity
6. Exquisite (tbr) or Lord of Scoundrels(new)
7. Annie's Song or Half-Blood

Referee: The often overlooked non-player. Referees often run more than the actual players and needs endurance.
8. Flowers from the Storm
Faro's Daughter- My favorite Georgette Heyer

I hope you like the picks , if not I will be happy to repick for you :)

mary (darcyfanatic) | 39 comments ASHLEY! I find it hilarious that I got you. You know it was very difficult to think of new books for you. Mainly because you are the one that tells me what books to read. And then if I read a new book that you haven't, you notice it on the feed and start reading them. So the new books I recommended, hopefully you like them. If not, I fail at being you best friend. Don't hate me if they are bad. Okay, here they go:

Goalkeeper:
1. Go-to Author or comfort read.
TBR:
Jagged by Kristen Ashley. Kristen Ashley is definitely one of our go to authors :)
New: Come Away with Me by Kristen Proby. I own the whole With me in Settle series on Kindle (this is the first one). She isn't my first go to author, but she is the one you haven't read yet.
Jagged (Colorado Mountain, #5) by Kristen Ashley Come Away with Me (With Me in Seattle, #1) by Kristen Proby

2. Colorful cover.
TBR:
Destined by Aprilynne Pike, I have a question....how can this be on hold for two years??? Is that a really long hold or did you lose interest?
NEW: Her Mad Hatter by Marie Hall. It is a short read (I own on kindle). It is the first of a series about the bad boys of fairy tales in modern day.
Destined (Wings, #4) by Aprilynne Pike Her Mad Hatter (Kingdom, #1) by Marie Hall

Defender:
3. Longer book from TBR shelf.
TBR:
For the Roses by Julie Garwood.
TBR: Shadow of Night by Deborah Harkness. The third book comes out next month, so it can get you ready for it.
For the Roses (Rose, #1) by Julie Garwood Shadow of Night (All Souls Trilogy, #2) by Deborah Harkness

Midfielder:
4. Next book in a Series.
TBR
: Size 12 and Ready to Rock by Meg Cabot. Cause then I can bring up the last one when I come and visit you.
TBR: Finale by Becca Fitzpatrick. I do own the book if you want me to bring it up.
Size 12 and Ready to Rock (Heather Wells, #4) by Meg Cabot Finale (Hush, Hush, #4) by Becca Fitzpatrick

5. Nerdy or take charge kind of leader or futirostc/dystopic/apocalytic.
TBR:
Insurgent by Veronica Roth. Grace owns this book if you want to borrow it.
NEW: Shade’s Fall by by Jamie Begley. It is technically the 4th book in a series. But it is the best book in it. So I recommend this one the most. And Grace also read this book first. So it is not important you read them all in order. Grace owns the whole series on kindle. (Fyi: Shade is a take charge kind of guy)
Insurgent (Divergent, #2) by Veronica Roth Shade’s Fall (The Last Riders, #4) by Jamie Begley

Forward:
6. Recommend a successful recommend.
TBR:
Wildest Dreams by Kristen Ashley. So this was technically recommended to me successfully. But since you recommend to me all the books I read, I am bending the rules a little bit.
NEW: Wicked Beat by Olivia Cunning. Again, this is the fourth book of a series. But it was the one Grace liked the most. And the author didn't even write the series in order so again it would be fine. But I own the whole series on kindle.
Wildest Dreams (Fantasyland, #1) by Kristen Ashley Wicked Beat (Sinners on Tour, #4) by Olivia Cunning

7. Catches your eye from TBR shelf.
TBR
: Claiming the Highlander by Kinley MacGregor. Because I know how much you love the Scots.
TBR: Archer's Voice by Mia Sheridan. Not going to lie, I like the cover and it sounds interesting.
Claiming the Highlander (Brotherhood/MacAllister, #2) by Kinley MacGregor Archer's Voice by Mia Sheridan

Referee:
8. Classic book.
TBR
The Countess by Lynsay Sands. I really enjoyed this book by her.
NEW: Rock Me by Cherrie Lynn. I found this through Grace's account. I really enjoyed it.
The Countess (Madison Sisters #1) by Lynsay Sands Rock Me (Ross Siblings, #2) by Cherrie Lynn

Sorry it took me forever. I wanted them to be good. You always recommend so many good ones to me. I wanted to try my best. Hopefully you can find some good reads. Let me know if you want me to bring any book up when I come and visit you :) <3

Defender: Both of these books were on your TBR - I've read the first one and liked it and I want to read the second book. It's one of my daughter's favorite author. And they are both long!
Dragonfly in Amber and Wizard's First Rule
Dragonfly in Amber by Laila Ouhssaine Wizard's First Rule (Sword of Truth, #1) by Terry Goodkind

Midfielder:
You seem to like the Lux series (I do too!) so the first book is the next one in the series and the second book is one I just finished and Loved!!!. It's set in a futuristic time on Earth.
Origin and Under the Never Sky
Origin (Lux, #4) by Jennifer L. Armentrout Under the Never Sky (Under the Never Sky, #1) by Veronica Rossi

Forward:
I've recommended this series many times and almost everyone loves it. One of my favorites! And the second book caught my eye. It looked really interesting.
Spider's Bite and Black Dog Blues
Spider's Bite (Elemental Assassin, #1) by Jennifer Estep Black Dog Blues (Kai Gracen, #1) by Rhys Ford

Referee: Two classics since you seem to like fantasy. I'm surprised you don't have the first one on your shelves and the second one is a great Arthurian fantasy.
Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone and The Mists of Avalon
Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (Harry Potter, #1) by J.K. Rowling The Mists of Avalon (Avalon, #1) by Marion Zimmer Bradley

If US lost, there was a chance for Portugal to advance. But nope - they were eliminated yesterday. Poor Cristiano Ronaldo.

Fran | 12271 comments Hi Karla!

I had fun going through your shelves - I hope you find something here you like! We both read a lot of YA, so I recommended some of my favorites that I didn't see on your shelves, along with a few of my favorite contemporaries.

Goalkeeper:
Obsidian (preferred shelf)- I love this series and everything I have read by Jennifer L. Armentrout/J Lynn
Goodnight Tweetheart (new)- Teresa Medeiros is a favorite author of mine and this book is very different for her but so good.

Breathing Room (new)- This is my favorite SEP book, you will feel like you are in Italy with them.
Major Crush (tbr)- I love Jennifer Echols and this book. And she is the FAC for July :)
The Ex Games (tbr)- I am going to read this one for the FAC in July...buddy read?

The Ex Games by Jennifer Echols Major Crush by Jennifer Echols Breathing Room by Susan Elizabeth Phillips

Defender:
The Book Thief (tbr)- a must read. 552 pages
I Am Number Four (tbr)- I am not a big sci-fi reader, but this was a fun, fast-paced, great read. 440 pages.

Midfielder:(next in series)
Two for the Dough (tbr)
The Last Little Blue Envelope (preferred shelf)

Into the Wild Nerd Yonder (new)- This book is a gem. One of my fave YAs.
Sophie & Carter (new)- Love this shorter, emotional story of 2 teens trying to keep their families together. They are both take charge.

Forward:
I have recommended all 3 of the following titles with success (I hope!).
Do Over (new) - sweet, sexy, emotional short story about a married couple finding love again.
On the Island (new)- great adventure story about a teacher and student.
Completely Smitten (new)- such a sweet, fun, road trip love story

The Boyfriend List: 15 Guys, 11 Shrink Appointments, 4 Ceramic Frogs and Me, Ruby Oliver (preferred shelf)- This caught my eye because I just read another one by E. Lockhart that I enjoyed....We Were Liars (new). You can read either one.
Wake (tbr)- This one caught me eye because I loved it! The whole trilogy is so good.

Referee:
Persuasion (preferred shelf)
The Fault in Our Stars(new)- This will be a classic one day. Have lots of tissues ready!

message 190: by Runell (new)

Runell Thanks for the picks Leslie. There are a couple that I would really like to get to this month, so hopefully I will.

And just to let you know, I have read Harry Potter, but those were pre-Goodreads days so I don't have them on my shelves. ;)

message 191: by Amy J. (last edited Jun 27, 2014 01:51PM) (new)

Amy J. | 349 comments Ty I enjoyed going through your shelves. I haven't read most of the books on your TBR, but hopefully you'll find something to enjoy in the books I've picked for you.

Goal Keeper
1. Go to Reads: I love Sarah Addison Allen so I've selected my two favorite (so far) novels to recommend for you: The Peach Keeper Or Garden Spells

2. Colorful Covers: Both of these are from your TBR pile: All The Colors Of Love by Jessica Freely OR How to Repair a Mechanical Heart by J.C. Lillis

Defender
3. Longer TBR Books: Parasite by Mira Grant (I actually added this one to my own TBR pile) OR Sempre: Redemption by J.M. Darhower

Midfielder
4. Current Series: Both of my choices here are from series I've started too. I'd suggest a buddy read but you're further along in each than I am. Cress by Marissa Meyer ORUp From the Grave by Jeaniene Frost

5. Dystopian: You seem to like this genre (and I do too) My suggestions are The Handmaid's Tale by Margaret Atwood OR Delirium by Lauren Oliver

Forward
6. Previously successful recommendations: On the Island by Tracey Garvis-Graves OR Making Waves by Tawna Fenske

7. Eye catching Covers: Maybe I'm being a bit literal with my first selection, which is Ignite Me by Tahereh Mafi OR Year Zero by Rob Reid. The cover reminds me of Napster, which I dearly miss.

Referee
8. Classics: One of my favorite books of all time The Unbearable Lightness of Being by Milan Kundera OR I was going to go Austen's P&P, but you've already read it, so we'll do an Elizabeth Gaskell novel and go with North and South

The Peach Keeper by Sarah Addison Allen Garden Spells by Sarah Addison Allen All The Colors Of Love by Jessica Freely How to Repair a Mechanical Heart by J.C. Lillis Parasite (Parasitology, #1) by Mira Grant Sempre Redemption (Forever, #2) by J.M. Darhower Cress (The Lunar Chronicles, #3) by Marissa Meyer Up From the Grave (Night Huntress #7) by Jeaniene Frost The Handmaid's Tale by Margaret Atwood Delirium (Delirium, #1) by Lauren Oliver On the Island (On the Island, #1) by Tracey Garvis-Graves Making Waves by Tawna Fenske Ignite Me (Shatter Me, #3) by Tahereh Mafi Year Zero by Rob Reid The Unbearable Lightness of Being by Milan Kundera North and South by Elizabeth Gaskell

Goal Keeper:
1. NEW: Years - LaVyrle Spencer is always a comfort read for me
2. NEW: All The Colors Of Love - interest premise, colorful cover

Defender:
3. N2U/TBR: Daughter of the Forest - this book is mega. I mean, mega epic fantasy, mega tragedy, mega sobbing (for me) - just mega.

Midfielder:
4. TBR: Fool Moon - love me some Harry Dresden
5. N2U/TBR: Unholy Ghosts - please please read this soon. I rank this up there with Kate Daniels as one of my favorite UF series - but this one comes with a boatload of more gravitas.

7. TBR: Mystery Man - omg. the book that got me on the KA train.

Referee:
8. NEW: Once in a Blue Moon - a classic! (at least I think so...) and my absolute favorite HR. quite HTF - good luck!

BONUS:
If you haven't gobbled this up yet....
Magic Breaks - I see that you have the ARC. SO SOOOO JELLY. SOOOOOOO.

Hi Kaileigh,
No problem. I hope you are feeling better, and I certainly understand not wanting to do this if you are under the weather. The picks you did look really good, and I will have a hard time deciding. A friend just today gave me Death of a Mad Hatter, so I may start with that one since I just finished the first one in the series and it was excellent. There are also several others that I want to read soon, also, so I will let you know what else I pick up. This is a really good list.

Thank you, and happy reading!

Hi Daffodil!

Well, after much thought, I'll be reading a couple of these and the rest have definitely ended up on my TBR shelf.

I'm definitely reading Soul Song (Dirk and Steele, #6) by Marjorie M. Liu and I'd like to read Sea Swept (Chesapeake Bay Saga, #1) by Nora Roberts . And I will almost positively be reading Shield of Winter (Psy-Changeling, #13) by Nalini Singh I'm so excited for this book!!

message 198: by Karla (new)

Karla Hi Liz Contreras,
Here are your picks. We only have a few books in common, and I have not read any of the books on your TBR, so I hope you find something new that you like.

Goal Keeper:
Meg cabot is my favorite author, it looks like you like paranormal books, the following two books are the first in YA paranormal series written by Meg Cabot.
Shadowland (The Mediator, #1) by Meg Cabot - 16 year old with a power.

Dragon Bound (Elder Races, #1) by Thea Harrison - colorful cover, your TBR

Defender: .
Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell - This book is on my TBR too. 445 pages.
Theirs to Cherish (Wicked Lovers, #8) by Shayla Black - to help you make progress on the series (your TBR) 400 pages

Midfielder:
Origin (Lux, #4) by Jennifer L. Armentrout - your TBR
Shopaholic Takes Manhattan (Shopaholic, #2) by Sophie Kinsella - I found the first one on your read list, so I thought you might like to read the next one.

Forward:
The Rosie Project (Don Tillman #1) by Graeme Simsion - I have recommend this to a couple of people, and they've both liked it. It is my favorite book so far this year. It starts out slow, but ends great!

A Perfect Proposal by Katie Fforde - Found this on your TBR and have added it to mine.

Referee:
Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen - My favorite (classic) book of all time.
Jane Eyre by Charlotte Brontë - my second favorite classic book.

message 199: by D.G. (last edited Jun 28, 2014 03:04AM) (new)

D.G. | 4477 comments Awesome picks, Ty! I'm considering the following:
Daughter of the Forest (Sevenwaters, #1) by Juliet Marillier Tangled (Tangled, #1) by Emma Chase Mystery Man (Dream Man, #1) by Kristen Ashley Magic Breaks (Kate Daniels, #7) by Ilona Andrews Fool Moon (The Dresden Files, #2) by Jim Butcher Unholy Ghosts (Downside Ghosts, #1) by Stacia Kane

Believe it or not, I've had the ARC of Magic Breaks for a couple of months now but I'm a rabid audiobook fan and I don't feel like reading it in print. Most likely I'll wait until the audio release date and listen to it.

All your new picks look great as well - I'll add them to my TBR - but I'll probably won't get to them this month.
