Susan A | 1593 comments Want to be captain? Not particularly, but I am willing to do it if no one else wants to. However, I am not a good person to roll the die. I am in EST, so the timing isn't very convenient. You'd likely be waiting for me to wake up the next day and roll.

Is anyone in a more convenient time zone?

Out for the Night (Browerton University, #4) by A.J. Truman
date read: 6/1/17
rating: ★★★

Out for the Night by A.J. Truman is the fourth book in the Browerton University series. The book can be read as a stand alone.
Although this story was funny at times, I thought part of the plot made no sense and it interfered with my enjoyment of the story. Coop hires himself as a G rated gigolo -- someone to make your boyfriend jealous, meet your parents, be your date. Awesome job! He gets hired by a fellow student to distract a classmate who is scoring too high in a class, thus wrecking the curve. This is that part I am not okay with. I like the idea of the fake boyfriend or friend as a plot...it's just paying someone to wreck someone's grades...well actually I think that would make an interesting plot too...ugghh I'm making a mess of this.

Matty was scoring high grades in a robotics class. He was getting As and the rest of the class was getting Cs. His classmates were actively mad at him and tried to push him into scoring lower so that they would get a higher curve. This makes no sense to me . Why would anyone expect or think it was even possible to convince Matty to score lower on his tests so that they could score higher? I can see being passively mad...like a general, wow it sucks that one person is wrecking the curve, but not taking it personally and expecting that person to change to their own detriment and your benefit.

In addition, Matty's personality as originally presented, would not have allowed for him to perform so poorly. I think it was inconsistent. Spending too much time with his boyfriend might make his grades slip a little bit, but the person presented in the beginning of the book would not let their grades slip that much. After the heartbreak, sure. Before, I don't buy it.

And now, I'm picking it apart. I really liked that boy on the cover & I liked the gigolo plot.

Book: Be Mine Forever by Marina Adair
Date Read: 6/2/17
Rating: ★★★★

This was a cute romance with some humor mingled in. I love the DeLuca family and how each brother has found their HEA so far. Trey was commitment phobic with no plans of ever settling down but I liked how Sara changed his plans. It was also sweet how he became involved with Sara's son, Cooper, and helped him out. Marina Adair's books remind me a little Jill Shalvis, who is one of my favorite contemporary romance authors. I am enjoying this series and definitely plan to continue with it and look for other books by this author.

Review:
This was my least liked book in this series and it kinda bored me. The plot revolves around the heroine's secret past and her evil brother which is obvious. She doesn't act as innocent as she should pretend be, to be believable to society as a whole to be fooled by it. The whole needless melodrama caused by the heroine not trusting her husband kinda vexed me to no end, I was close to grinding my teeth at points. The inconsistencies in the era it was set in and country, couldn't be overlooked. Sadly because I enjoyed the other installments.

Review: Easily my least favorite of the series so far. The pace was very wacky. As soon as there is a glimmer of a beginning to their relationship the time jumps and all of a sudden they have "been fooling around for weeks." So we never got to experience their growing feelings for each other. It was basically I find you attractive then jumps immediately to I'm in love with you. Normally I don't mind insta love but in this case I just wasn't feeling it. I think it's because it is an insta love story trying to disguise itself as a slow burn story. Sorry, wasn't buying it.

AND I have to complain about that cover. Who the fuck are those guys? Not Dereck and Rodney. That's for sure. Dereck is supposed to be 17/18. Does that white model look 18 to you? Rodney is in his 20s (I think). Both guys on the cover look my age.
