That series is so wonderful! It just gets better from the first book! I would *sigh* about a character, but I wouldn't want to give anything away. :)

The Midwife's Tale by Delia Parr
Qualification: At Home in Trinity Book #1
Date Read: 6/5
Rating: 3 stars
Review: This was, overall, a sweet book about a loving, caring, woman, who helps others and tries to fix problems in her town. The writing was a bit "heavy" at times, and the romance was just barely hinted at, but it was fun to read about some these historical midwifery practices. It seems that the author has done her research and is fairly accurate.

Review: Elsie Walsh transformed an old ruin in Newfoundland into an exclusive bed and breakfast for the rich and famous. It's been her policy to not sleep with the guest, except for one that she now regrets. Campbell Scott is a Scottish wildlife artist whose sister books him a stay at the B&B to work on his latest book. He's immediately attracted to Elsie, and she's attracted to him as well, but she can't break her rules! The sh*t hits the fan when the one guest she did have a fling with shows up - and it turns out he's friend with Cam! This was a short and cute insta-love story.

Review:
This was a quick enjoyable read. It has been a while since I read a Rachel Gibson book and I had forgotten how much I liked them. The set-up is kind of silly but it led some funny moments as well as causing a significant problem later in the story. I will definitely be picking up book 2.

This was another enjoyable HR read from one of my favorite authors. It was nice seeing it set in colonies (New York), even though I would have preffered a bit longer part than Epilogue that was set in England.

Haha. I've heard rumors that the ladies love a certain man but honestly, after this first book I'm not impressed.

Thank you!

I have updated my original book post with my review! Good first week, guys.

That's what you're supposed to feel about him then. Give him a chance to explain! :)

So, we can read a #2, #3, or the alternative for this spot is Author H (I assume this means either the first or last initial is an H).

Tris and Four, and other members of Dauntless and Abnigation, are given sanctuary in Amity. That is, until the Erudite and Dauntless army find them. They escape and find the faction-less - and the leader of the faction-less is none less than Four's mother! Tris struggles to come to grips with her grief and guilt over the deaths that happened during the simulation in the original book, and faces off against the leader of the Erudites Jeanine Matthews. A great second book in the Divergent trilogy.
Note: I listened to the audio version so I took the page count from the ISBN version 0007536747, listed on Goodreads, the most popular paperback version in English (besides the UK version)

Review: Jamie Peters is a modern day hippie social worker who spends her life trying to help people. Even her former boyfriends were projects! Then friend and reformed criminal now turned cross dressing psychic Beckwith reads her cards and predicts she'll meet her soul mate along with some pretty explicit details. Jack, AKA Jonathan Davidson, is the brother of one of Jamie's friends (Caroline, but Jamie has never met him) and he is investigating Jamie's place of work (they applied for a grant and some irregularities were found.) One day he is following Jamie and she bumps into him and all of Beckwith's predictions are accurate! But Jack is nothing like the guys Jamie usually dates and he ends up lying about who he is at first. This was a fun and sexy story with interesting characters and a lot going on. I really enjoyed it!

Review: I continue to enjoy this series. Alex is a great heroine, with just enough snark to keep it interesting, a great heart, and a touch of vulnerability. But I do have a hard time with the fact that this whole series is hardly original. I see touches of the Mythos Academy series, but even more than that this is basically a re-telling of the Vampire Academy series. With just a touch of Bloodlines thrown in. But, originality aside, it is a fun, engaging, read.

Review: This was a new to me author but I will read more of her work. I enjoyed the interaction between the sisters as well as the rest of the cast of characters. It was especially fun for me to read because it was set in Michigan, my home state. The mystery was not a surprise ending but it was action packed until the end.

Book: The Stranger

How it fits: authors name starts with H ( alternate choice)
Rating:2 1/2 stars
This is my second Harlen Coben book. I really didn't enjoy this book. The main character Adam was uninteresting and I couldn't believe his motivations. The main premise was unbelievable, a group who targets people with secrets they disapprove with? Not a favorite.

Book:

Into the Water by Paula Hawkins
How it fits: Author last name starts with H
Read: June 12, 2017
Rating: 3 1/2 stars
Review:
I was apprehensive about reading this book because I had read Paula Hawkins' one other novel and was underwhelmed. In some ways, I was pleasantly surprised by this novel.
Pros: I enjoyed the premise of this story. Ladies keep dying in the river - is it suicide or is someone killing them? This was a slow burning mystery in which it was hard to tell who really was the bad guy. It drew me in and once I started reading I didn't want to put it down. I read it all in two days. I read a bunch of thrillers and have a tendency to guess the end. In this one I didn't.
Cons: There were WAY too many point of views. I can generally get down the multiple point of view concept but there is no reason in this world for there to be ten narrators.
Some of the plot points seemed to be added just as a distraction from the rest of the story. I don't particularly appreciate rape as a plot device.
Overall, I gave it three and a half stars. I enjoyed it but it could've been better.
