Team jellyfish just had a query about joining buddy reads.
Are we okay to join a thread at any time in the month? In my head I'm thinking you've said within two weeks of the buddy read starting, but we wanted to make sure.

I believe it's within 10 days/2 weeks of the date.

I feel like maybe there would be an exception, considering we are getting new key words that might come towards the middle to the end of the month, so we might pick those books up later? At least, I hope!

Well you can still bank books^ And to me, atleast, I feel that it takes the point away from a "buddy" read if you're completing them like 2 weeks+ away from when the buddies will actually be there.

If the discussion itself starts early, or runs late, then it makes sense to hop in, but otherwise you're just talking to yourself in the thread, and when your buddy joins a few weeks later they're all on their own.

As long as its within 2 weeks of the start date, or 2 weeks from the last comment on the thread, then we will count it ☺

Banking books means like just storing them until they count for words. So not submitting reviews until they count for words, so we don't waste reading books.

Thanks Meaghan. It's definitely better to join in with others, but for this challenge there's a lot of books to store just in case!

Sarah, I'm slightly confused by this rule, you can count pages of a book you started previous to the month that doesn't fit a word, however you cannot count pages of a book you've read if you started it during this month??? So my team would have been better off if I started a bunch of books on May 31 that didn't work for any words, so we could get the page points? Maybe I'm overthinking this? I'm just not understanding why people that did not finish their books last month are getting an opportunity to get page points, but those of us that did finish our books from last month aren't allowed to get any kind of page points?

@Berit I was thinking about that last month with Jumanji! I even assumed it would be okay to count books just for page points because half finished books were allowed for that already

The idea is that we do this as a courtesy for those people who started books for the May challenge and didn't get to finish them. If we allowed people to read anything for page points without crossing off descriptions then there would be no point in the challenge.
