M. Lorrox (mlorrox) | 26 comments Hello, I'd like to create a series; I just published the second book in it.

Series name: Infinite Vampire

Book 0: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/3...

Book 1 (ebook): https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2...

Book 1 (softcover): https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/3...

Thank you!

M. Lorrox (mlorrox) | 26 comments Thanks! I take it the system doesn't like a book 0.

0.5 will do :)

Empress (the_empress) It's not the system, but what we add. We prefer not to use a 0 and stick to 0.1-0.9, 1.1-1.9 and etc., though in cases where there is only one novella between books we go for 0.5, 1.5. etc
Full digits are reserved for main works of series.

A numbering of 0, 1, 1.5, 2 is a bit more confusing than 0.5, 1, 1.5 etc. The zero would imply that is a main book.

See the rules here: https://www.goodreads.com/help/show/4...

This is incorrect. 0 is used, but is reserved for novel-length prequels.

M. Lorrox (mlorrox) | 26 comments Thank you for the information. I added placeholders for the rest of the books in the series that are in the publishing pipeline, and I'd like them to be added to the series as well:

Book 2: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/3...

Book 3: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/3...

Book 4: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/3...

Thank you!
M

Added to the series: https://www.goodreads.com/series/2058...
Also removed the allcaps from the titles.

M. Lorrox (mlorrox) | 26 comments Thank you for adding them to the series, but why did you uncap the titles? The books are published with all-capped titles...

Since that is GR policy (https://www.goodreads.com/help/show/2...)

title

The title should match the title shown on the cover of the book, if that information is available. If a title includes accented characters, apostrophes, quotation marks, or punctuation, include these in the title. Do not remove definite or indefinite articles such as "the" from the beginning of titles; this is handled by the sort title, which is a different field (see below). Double-check the spelling!

The title should be capitalized according to standard title capitalization for the language of the edition. Preferred title capitalization in English is the use of capital letters for the principal words. Only use sentence capitalization, all uppercase, all lowercase, or other capitalization if the book specifies it. Note that many titles appear to be in all uppercase or lowercase letters on the cover but are not otherwise capitalized this way, and that therefore the cover is used for the words of the title but not necessarily the capitalization.

M. Lorrox (mlorrox) | 26 comments I see. I just want to be consistent across all platforms for reader's benefit.

Because "Only use ... all uppercase, ... if the book specifies it." applies to this case, can you change them back or can I?

Thank you,
-M

Arenda | 26447 comments I don't know if this is an acceptable exception to the existing policy. Only GR staff can confirm that.

M. Lorrox (mlorrox) | 26 comments I was quoting the policy, so I'm suggesting that it isn't an exception at all. In any case, I'll just change them all back, and if GR staff don't like it, then they'll have to change them all again, I suppose.

Those titles should not be capitalized.

M. Lorrox (mlorrox) | 26 comments Why's that?

Please see the section Arenda bolded in post #10.

message 17: by M. (new) - added it

M. Lorrox (mlorrox) | 26 comments Please read the sentence before the bolded one (which is the sentence I was quoting). I hereby officially specify, as author of this series and the owner of the company publishing the series, and the person who sends the individual books in this series to distributors with an all capped titles, that all individual titles of the books in this series should always be presented in all capped titles.
