Amy Hamilton | 2560 comments Hope you're feeling better soon Sam

Alex I have to double and triple check licence and license. Even when I've got it straight in my head one time, I'd need to check it again the next time. I had bazaar and bizarre wrong for ages. I don't use 'gotten' because it is an Americanism, but I wouldn't whack a 2* down for its use either. Can't please em all.

Brit's been playing around with Snapchat and Facebook- Take a look guys and let me know what you think of the stuff we are putting up. I offered fidget spinners to the first fifty people that signed up for an arc and our email blew up. https://www.facebook.com/iammichaelokon/

message 256: by Amy (new)

Amy Hamilton | 2560 comments I don't do Snapchat, but the FB looks good.

I've hit my usual brick wall. I cannot publish my exclusive to Radish story because I can't decide on a title. And after the title I then have to somehow get an accompanying graphic. Bleugh and ugh.

I'm excited for you!! Put a bunch of names in a hat and pick one. lol

The Facebook page looks good, Carole! I gave it a like. :) I like the giveaways you are doing too. I had seen the fidget spinner one on Twitter the other day. Very cool!

The kids insisted on those- We have tee shirts, hats, signed limited edition posters, pencils, and backpacks all on their way. I want to see what makes the biggest impact.

message 261: by Anna (new)

Anna Faversham (annafaversham) | 1236 comments Amy, why not give us an idea of the theme of your book and 6 of the best of your titles and perhaps we could vote for one. Sometimes it helps - even if it's a case of you deciding you definitely don't like our choice!

message 262: by Amy (new)

Amy Hamilton | 2560 comments Angry cop called Track on a space station called Si-Cross 4, suspended from work for hitting a criminal and breaking his jaw therefore causing the authority to foot the bill for a new jaw which is more expensive than if Track had shot him dead. Virus wiped out or maimed many people. The afflicted go missing but no-one will do anything about it apart from Track who either has to investigate in his horrific three month suspension or take up knitting or something. I love him, the miserable bastard. (He has a pet robot dog called Banyon. He has to keep him on silent mode because the neighbours complain.

I've got:

Track's Station
Si-Cross 4
The Si-Cross 4 Conspiracy

It has to be short because it's Radish, it's the width of a phone screen. If I make it any longer the words will fall out of the sides.

I am not the best at coming up with titles so take may opinion lightly. Out the ones you listed, I like Si-Cross 4 the best.

message 265: by Amy (last edited Aug 31, 2017 10:38AM) (new)

Amy Hamilton | 2560 comments They're not fabulous titles I have to admit, it's not my forte.

Just read this damn book by Amy J Hamilton. If only.

Might use this as the cover

I like Track's Station

message 267: by Amy (new)

Amy Hamilton | 2560 comments I am ambivalent with all of them :D I like the picture, but that's because I had nothing to do with it!

message 268: by Anna (last edited Aug 31, 2017 02:51PM) (new)

Anna Faversham (annafaversham) | 1236 comments Yep, the pic is great. Now which of the titles would look good sitting up the top?

Have a bath. Not a shower. And linger and see what floats by.

At the moment, only the third one gives the browser an idea of what might happen inside. But it's not snappy like the other two.

What's the theme? I know not every book has a theme, as such, but if you can capture that in your head, you can sometimes pluck a title.

message 269: by Amy (new)

Amy Hamilton | 2560 comments Don't know about a theme. It's more of an attitude. Or as people disappear how about

Lost Souls? Which is snappier than
The Lost Souls of Si-Cross 4 or
Track's Lost Souls.
Track's Missing (feels unfinished)
Track's Redemption (makes sense when you've read it)
Redemption List

I probably like the last two but wanted something snappier rather than clever double meaning after you've read it.

Thank you for your well wishes, Amy! Hugs

message 271: by Anna (last edited Sep 01, 2017 01:34AM) (new)

Anna Faversham (annafaversham) | 1236 comments I like the second one as it tells me that those souls are lost in a particular place (as illustrated by your cover) so it links the title to the cover pic.

I'd avoid 'redemption' in a title as it can be misunderstood. However !!! for me, I like the sound of Track's Redemption if it means he does something that redeems him from his terrible life before! So it creates curiosity. Perhaps. Gee, I'm good at creating confusion, aren't I?

redeem
rɪˈdiːm/Submit
verb
past tense: redeemed; past participle: redeemed
1.
compensate for the faults or bad aspects of.

"the party prepared to redeem the pledges of the past three years"
synonyms: fulfil, carry out, discharge, make good, execute; More

message 272: by Amy (new)

Amy Hamilton | 2560 comments It's two different things, but both are valid for the storyline.

1. compensate for the faults or bad aspects of. (the main character)
2. to gain possession (is the reason why people are going missing.)

message 273: by Amy (last edited Sep 01, 2017 01:55AM) (new)

Amy Hamilton | 2560 comments It could also be

The Redemption of Si-Cross 4
Si-Cross 4: Lost Souls

Redemption works because he finds a list of names headed "Redeemed" and has to figure out what it means.

message 274: by Amy (new)

Amy Hamilton | 2560 comments Alex wrote: "I love that he got suspended because it would have been cheaper if he had just shot the guy, lol."

or take the incoming knife wound aimed at him, that was also a cheaper option. You know me, I see the world differently. lol

message 275: by Amy (new)

Amy Hamilton | 2560 comments Oh that's a good one. They wouldn't let him get away with that though. Double whammy. Knife wound will cost to get fixed plus the price of recycling the body. He'd still be benched.

I like the first one!

message 277: by Aislinn (new)

Aislinn For titles, I worry about having numbers in the title. It kinda sorta makes it seem like it's book #4 in the series.

So maybe... The Redemption of Lost Souls? Idk. I'm terrible at titles.

Good point. Hadn't thought of that. Thank you. That's easily remedied. Si-Cross can be the authority that runs the space stations and this happens to be number 4, but the problem is across all of them. Therefore I can just drop the number 4 from the title.

I still don't like any of the titles though... I'm good at this-not.

It has added motivation to get my next book finished, so I can do another trailer. If anyone is interested, here are the links. I would be interested in opinions.

Alex, that's amazing. It's very clear where everything is. Was that free wordpress or the paid for one? I really need to sort mine out.

I got completely confused looking into Wordpress. Does wordpress host the site for you?

message 290: by Amy (new)

Amy Hamilton | 2560 comments Thanks, I'll stick it on the list of things to do. I need more time. I'm out of energy for today.

message 291: by Amy (new)

Amy Hamilton | 2560 comments Yes, even with the disabled parking today I did a lot of walking and I've cooked the family a roast. Quite shattered now. I've ticked so many non-writing boxes today, unfortunately they all meant I had to spend money...

message 292: by Amy (new)

Amy Hamilton | 2560 comments We rarely have them these days. And I feel sick now. Chicken always does that to me. Bleugh.

message 293: by Chrys (new)

Chrys Cymri | 114 comments I never have time to do a roast. That pesky reality of taking services on Sunday (real job is full time Christian minister). And the fact that I live alone. Could I really face all those left overs?

message 294: by Amy (new)

Amy Hamilton | 2560 comments I wouldn't either if I was on my own. I'd probably buy a ready meal!

message 295: by Chrys (new)

Chrys Cymri | 114 comments Oh, no, I avoid anything like ready meals! Cook from scratch--but make many portions to freeze/thaw as necessary.

message 296: by Amy (new)

Amy Hamilton | 2560 comments Such limited energy at the moment I'm not above ready meals. I used to cook everything fresh and batch cook. That was before I had kids and a business and when I had energy. We use ready meals at the caravan too so I can have a break.

message 297: by Chrys (new)

Chrys Cymri | 114 comments I'm single and child free, and I guess I simply have no idea how much time kids take up. I have a small parrot, but I'm legally allowed to lock her in a cage and walk away.

message 298: by Amy (new)

Amy Hamilton | 2560 comments Lol. I don't think I'm allowed to restrain the kids in that way. Also got a degu, a lizard and a tortoise and some fish. It gets pretty busy round here.

And I wish I had no interest in food...
