Dale Lehman (dalelehman) | 1814 comments I'll be at Greetings and Readings in Hunt Valley, Maryland today from 1:00 PM to 2:30 PM signing "Ice on the Bay." My previous appearances there have generally garnered me from 3 to 5 sales. I'll let you know how it goes.

Good luck, Dale. Have a great day.

Dale Lehman (dalelehman) | 1814 comments Only sold 2 books, but both customers signed up for my email list and one other took a bookmark with our URL on it and said she'd be interested in picking up one of my books later. The weather was kind of blah here and store traffic was on the low side, but a sale is a sale . . .

A psychologist asked me to review his indie book. You know, I suffer from anxiety- It just started about ten years ago and the first time it happened I thought I was having a heart attack.
Well, anyhow- I read his book last night and reviewed it- It was really helpful- If anyone is interested- here's the review-maybe the book can help others.

It made me see my anxiety in a whole new way.

I got the Arc on Michael's new book Monsterland Reanimated.
It will be released this Friday the 13-
Anyone who wants a copy, let me know- I'm happy to share.
No pressure, though. I think it's a fun read- but I'm his mom, I might be biased.

Check out my blog http://caroleproman.blogspot.com/

Interview with my biggest fan- my grandson.

Also, a rare treat, actor Dan McGowan recorded my book Captain No Beard.

That is great news Carole! I will check out your interview and book reading first thing tomorrow. :) Is Monsterland Reanimated a sequel? I saw a teaser for it somewhere a a week or two ago. I don't handle "scary" well. I am a wimp. Haha. Del's book The Unicorn Hunter was pushing my limits.

I think his books are more "thinking" books. I am a scaredy cat and couldn't read them either if they were scary- I think that's one of the complaints for die-hard horror fans- is that he writes horror that is not scary.

However, I wrote Bulwark and didn't think it was scary at all and a few people thought it was horrifying. Go figure.

He's actually more funny- I think than scary- His scariest and least humorous book for me was The History Major. That book was really horrifying-but addictive. It got really mix reviews- I loved it- others absolutely hated it.
Sometimes I get so lost in his work I forget he's my kid when I read

Book 2 of this series is more apocalyptic and they are both rated YA.

message 2724: by Amy (new)

Amy Hamilton | 2560 comments Everyone has their own threshold on what is horror. I've read some sadistic stuff over the years that would push some people into therapy. As I'm dead inside anyway it doesn't bother me lol.

I have just hit the submit button on an order for a cover for Missing Remnants. I've decided to go with D2D and KDP ISBNs for now. I can always buy some later. I put a one day rush on it and picked the option for a premium picture. Fingers crossed.

message 2725: by Amy (new)

Amy Hamilton | 2560 comments Isn't D2D easy to use!? I can't make up my mind if I let it send to Amazon or if I go direct. And can I use the swanky formatting it provides for the ebook on the KDP paperback? Questions, questions!

message 2726: by Amy (new)

Amy Hamilton | 2560 comments Ah, so I can just use the download from D2D and upload it to KDP and the paperback will look the same as the digital one. I do quite like my science fiction formatting options. And I don't remember off-hand what I did last time. I'm like a goldfish, every time I do something it's like I'm doing it for the first time.

message 2727: by Carole (new)

Carole P. Roman | 4665 comments Mod
I KNOW that feeling. I didn't realize it was a goldfish thing.

message 2728: by Amy (new)

Amy Hamilton | 2560 comments Fish have memories of 30 seconds. Something like that. I forget!

Now, how the experts found that out... no idea.

message 2729: by Amy (new)

Amy Hamilton | 2560 comments I've just googled and I can upload a PDF to KDP, so as I can download a PDF from D2D, I imagine I can use that and make my paperback look as swanky as my ebook.

Right now, I'm still riding the wave of not having to fight Smashwords. I can't tell you what a relief that is.

message 2730: by Amy (new)

Amy Hamilton | 2560 comments Hah! I'm just going to produce books, wait until I do something nefarious that puts me in the public eye for the wrong reasons and then people will see I write books. I have no illusions that anything I do to get sales will actually work! I'll throw some promo money at this one though. It's definitely worth it.

message 2731: by Amy (new)

Amy Hamilton | 2560 comments That's true. This one will be in my real name though. So it shouldn't be hard to find.

In other news, space stations are hard to find. Eliminating the one you used, I think I have several options but I don't love any of them.

message 2732: by Amy (new)

Amy Hamilton | 2560 comments I've found more useful ones nearer page 300 than page 1! I'm working backwards. Yours is on page 1.

message 2733: by Amy (new)

Amy Hamilton | 2560 comments I am getting fed up of seeing petrol stations though. It's not quite the same thing!

message 2734: by Amy (new)

Amy Hamilton | 2560 comments The most random one I've found so far for space station is kettle. ???

I think if you could remove all the kettles, dogs and petrol stations when searching for space station you'd have about five relevant pages not 297.

message 2740: by Elina (new)

Elina Vale (elinavale) | 57 comments Hi!

I'm super busy and have ignored Goodreads totally lately... but I have to share my good news. :)

I released my first ever book in February, not selling much, but then I did a promotion for it this week on Monday and got really good results! Last four days and over 2500 pages read on KU! I know it's not much but it's something and I'm so happy that people are actually reading it. I did some great sales too! :)

Then I wrote a novella and I'm giving it for free in a group promotion and I'm getting nearly 20 new subscribers every day with it.

I've been working really hard and I'm so happy to get SOME results! :)

message 2741: by Amy (new)

Amy Hamilton | 2560 comments Sounds like a good start Elina, well done.

My husband almost smiled when he saw this cover for my latest novel. It's a very good sign. (Draft copy, hence the Fiverr logo)

What do you think?

Amy Hamilton | 2560 comments Good. Thanks. So far that's positive. I'm having her change my blurb on the back. Needless to say it's my input that needs changing, not the cover designer's!

Alex, how many words in An Unwanted Inheritance, roughly? I'm wondering about paperback pricing. I need to be at least £5.99 or I won't make anything. I think at £5.99 I'll get £1.29 royalty. (I don't sell many paperbacks but I will not price it to make a loss.)

I think the spaceship blends into the background a bit too much but I love the title and the colors.

message 2744: by Amy (new)

Amy Hamilton | 2560 comments I've asked if she can make it stand out more. We'll see. I have a vague idea that these things are possible in graphics packages. I could spend the rest of my life trying to do it myself. I've tried. Failed. Moved on lol.

message 2745: by Anna (new)

Anna Faversham (annafaversham) | 1236 comments I love it. I stopped and stared - and that's a good sign.

Yes that's a good sign. Thank you.

message 2747: by Amy (new)

Amy Hamilton | 2560 comments I can do enough graphics to supply my weight loss business with social media stuff. I’m happy to pay someone else for covers. I would however like to make the cost of the cover back in sales and seeing as the cover was £32 I don’t think that’s a big ask.

Elina- that's wonderful news - 2500 page reads is exciting.

There will be Track 2. After Unwelcome which is the current title I'm using for Iridessian Haunts. I've never really liked that title.
