So does that come from people who get book A for free and then decide to buy books B and C? I can see that, maybe, but shelling out that much up front is, for me, a non-starter. I'm trying to find the right time to shell out some money for a Bargain Booksy promo (haven't tried yet), which is only about a tenth of that, but which with luck will generate some actual sales rather than just giveaways.

But blood-y hell! Even if I was in the running, I have too many financial commitments that would exclude me from such endeavours!"

Exactly. If I had a few less medical bills and whatnot, maybe, but . . . .

The hope is, Dale that they will like your book enough to buy the rest in the series, I would think.

Carole and D.J., you both did great!

This is a blast. If you haven't checked it out yet, the takeovers are still going on and there are lots of giveaways still open from earlier today. Can't thank everyone enough for their support. This group is incredible!

D.J. Cooper | 1028 comments I prepped my posts a week ago and my head is still spinning. My first post was scheduled but didn't show up. I expect that to post at a random point in the future.

Thank you. Even more great news. I donated my latest book, "Beautiful,Strong Women:Poems of The Journey To Overcoming Domestic Violence" to a local shelter. They called and asked if I would be a guest at their Sexual Violence Prevention Awareness walk event in a few weeks. I had already signed up to walk but now I will be a special guest who will read a poem from my book.

Dale Lehman (dalelehman) | 1814 comments Yep, about halfway. Our fearless duo has already been to two exclusive parties in an attempt to execute on their contract to steal a curious family heirloom. They have two more to go, plus a party being thrown by an obnoxious neighbor who has nothing worth stealing but managed to twist Bernard's arm into accepting his invitation anyway...

D.J. Cooper | 1028 comments I had my book tweeted by Digital Book Girl recently. Has anyone any experience of their paid services? I'm likely to go ahead anyway next week because I need to do something.

Yay. Missing Remnants has just been released.

message 2947: by D.J. (new)

D.J. Cooper | 1028 comments Thanks. I’m done in now. Eye-strain, I’m not a fan. I might call it a night after my evening work session. That’s just stupid. It’ll be after 7pm when I finish. Most day workers have finished by then anyway. I am failing at my aim to be lazy.

message 2948: by Anna (new)

Anna Faversham (annafaversham) | 1236 comments Non-writers simply do not understand how long it takes to book adverts on some of these sites, do they?

I'm getting better - I label some sites as 'easy to book' and they get my attention first.

message 2949: by D.J. (new)

D.J. Cooper | 1028 comments I’m just starting out with the whole advertising world. Erotica was practically impossible to promote so I gave up trying. I couldn’t guarantee I wouldn’t be slaughtered for mislabelling it as erotic romance and that was the category that was listed in several places.

Promotion takes time and then it takes money.

So correct about time and money. I don't think you gave up, though- I think more like you switched gears. You followed the road signs and when something wasn't working you found a solution. Hats off- I think you did great!
