If you see one that has medium.com/topic/_______, whatever word is in the blank may be (or may have been) a homepage topic that it is/was featured under.

Amy Hamilton | 2560 comments Oh, forgot-I received another rejection from an agent last week. I can't remember what my total is up to now. I still don't care and I'm very pleased that it doesn't bother me anymore. I think making money on Medium helps. I have now covered this years fees. Thanks everyone.

Yeah, I forgot to mention that I got one last week, too. We can be partners in not caring. ;-)

Carmel Hanes You folks are reminding me why I decided to self-publish, rather than try to convince someone to take my book on. I feel for all of you, if that is your goal, however. And I hope some day you get to dance up and down at the mailbox when someone finally sees all the possibilities in you!

There are reasons to go both ways, sometimes simultaneously. ;-) I've learned not to expect anything, though. That way if I do get an acceptance, I can be pleasantly surprised without being traumatized by the inevitable rejections. I've actually sold a couple of articles to a major publication: Sky & Telescope. I'm thinking it's about time to send them another piece, which I've had in the back of my head for probably six or eight months.

message 2648: by Amy (new)

Amy Hamilton | 2560 comments Well done on Sky and Telescope. I think my husband used to get that one.

I've written this just because:

message 2650: by Carmel (new)

Carmel Hanes It would seem that having minimal expectations/hopes would be important in order not to be crushed, which it sounds like you all have mastered. As well as simply marching on to take advantage of other opportunities that appear. Congrats.
