Silje (sikna) | 908 comments K - where do you find all your books? I'm guessing you don't buy them all, and with your reading speed, I'd think the local libary would be out of new books for you to read soon=)

K~Terror (k-terror) | 506 comments It's so easy to get lost in a good book!

I peruse the whispersync deals mostly! (Kindle + narration add on). My new favorite genre is psychological thrillers and there are A LOT of new authors in this area with cheap book deals. Good thing! Plus I borrow from V. :)

Jennifer J. | 561 comments I think I REALLY have a problem!! I leave for vacation on Jan 28 and haven't even thought of what clothes I'm packing but I already have my book pile ready...I'm trying to restrict myself to 4...

Hi Everyone, sorry for checking in late but I'm here! My name is Andrea and I am from the west side of Canada. This is my second time playing UNO and I was proud to be on the winning team (Team Glee) last year! Even though I know winning really wasn't due to me at all as I am always one of the people who read the fewest. I usually read about 1-2 books per month but found with UNO it helps me bump that up to about 3 because it motivates me more.

I work at a public library as a library technician so I have absolutely no shortage of books to choose from. I also have a huge problem of adding a couple of books a day to my "to read" list because I'm always coming across so many that sound so great!! I think I have over 500 on my tbr list at the moment...

Can't wait to get started! And I must admit I had to google Robert Langdon because I have never read those books and wasn't a big fan of the movies :O (oops!)

Oh almost forgot... here's my shelf for this year. uno2017

Silje (sikna) | 908 comments Hi Andrea! Congrats on the former win;)
It's the same for me, I always read a lot more when there's a team challenge. And I sort of envy you your job=)

message 62: by Silje (new)

Silje (sikna) | 908 comments I know it is still almost a week left till we actually start, but I'm impatient and a bit curious:P And some planning never hurt anyone:P
Does anyone have books they plan to read in February already?=)

message 63: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer J. | 561 comments Well, the ones I have packed are A Long Walk to Water: Based on a True Story, The Boy in the Striped Pajamas, The Martian Chronicles, and A Man Called Ove. In addition I have my ebook Infinite Faith and my audiobooks Ghost Night and Ghost Moon which are two series I'm in the process of reading. I seldom can actually stay on track though because I end up finding new books that I get distracted by and my TBR pile just continues to grow.

V_Nerdbooks | 396 comments I always try and make a list if books that I am going to read, but then something shiny comes along and it all goes out of the window lol

message 65: by Andrea (new)

Andrea (dreakay) | 192 comments I have a few books I'm really hoping to read in February! The Girl with the Lower Back Tattoo, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, and A Court of Thorns and Roses

message 66: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer J. | 561 comments I read The Girl with the Lower Back Tattoo this month so that would work for one of our Reverse cards!

message 67: by K~Terror (new)

K~Terror (k-terror) | 506 comments Haha! My reading plan looks a lot like V's lately. Although, I am going to take a better look at our hands and my books on hand and match some up. I'll post a handful later today!

I just got home from picking my sickie son up from college and have a few things to do around here first.

Oh yes! And I've read the other two.... :)

message 69: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer J. | 561 comments Wonderful! Maybe the Reverse's will be easier to get than I thought!

message 70: by V_Nerdbooks (new)

V_Nerdbooks | 396 comments I still need to get my head around reverse and the double thing, I'll just happily plod along.

Just this minute finished the Leah Rimini Book which was surprisingly good considering I had no idea who she was haha

message 71: by K~Terror (new)

K~Terror (k-terror) | 506 comments And you don't typically read biographies! Glad you liked it!

I need to read rules again too but think it has something to do with reading a book that someone else on your team has read.

I know you and I have similar taste, V, so I was thinking it shouldn't be too hard. Unless we've already read all the same books! Ha!

I need to peruse everyone else's shelves too to get a feel for what types of books everyone reads.

message 72: by V_Nerdbooks (new)

V_Nerdbooks | 396 comments yes if in doubt I'll pick one if yours, I k ow I'll like them........unless it's Sarah Maas haha

I already have it.... Picked it up on a whispersync deal a bit ago...

I need to look at your US audio list though! LOL!

Did you find any on my "Audible" shelf?

message 77: by K~Terror (new)

K~Terror (k-terror) | 506 comments I didn't see that the number of pages played a part in this... Is that right? So if I have a big book or a small book to choose from, I should probably go with small?

message 78: by V_Nerdbooks (new)

V_Nerdbooks | 396 comments I've already had my 2 freebies thanks so can't have anymore :o(

I don't have that many on my U.S. one

The book has to be over 100 pages. I usually try to start with my smaller ones and once it looks like getting all the cards done doesn't look like a problem I delve into my tomes.

Good to know! I don't really have too many less than 100 pages (1-2?) but seem to have more on the other end...

Reverse cards is like K said: Read a book that someone else on your team has already read. When they read it doesn't matter=)

The Draw 2 card is an opportunity to do two cards with one book (technically three cards since the draw 2 is in there as well). Draw 2 itself doesn't give any points. Example: I read Magic Strikes, it fits card 3 (3 in series) and SKIP (character Kate) and there's a draw 2 in the same hand, so all these cards get eliminated by one book. Understandable?

I truly liked that one, even if you can raise an eyebrow on the silent caveman tendencies:P I know some didn't like it at all, but it was entertaining and fun=)

message 90: by Silje (new)

Silje (sikna) | 908 comments I'm currently reading a brick of a book, Klippehulens folk with 800+ pages, hoping to have it done before we start.
I plan on reading Magic Bleeds and Magic Slays. I also have The Sea of Tranquility, Rebel of the Sands, Snow Like Ashes, A Kiss of Shadows and A Caress of Twilight. All are library books, and have return date during February. "Luckily", I have to live in an apartment without Wifi the next two weeks, so a lot of reading will be on the agenda:P

I do love a good Kristen Ashley book from time to time! Have you read her Unfinished Hero series? It's probably my least favorite since her "caveman" is on overdrive for that series. But... I still had to read them! Lol!

message 92: by K~Terror (new)

K~Terror (k-terror) | 506 comments I currently own about 190 books that I need to read and started looking to see how many I could fit into our Feb hands. I had about 60+ listed so far... so figured I would shy away from reading any of those this week.

I really should read what I have before buying shiny new! Lol!

Hah! I know exactly what you mean, I have at least two shelves filled with unread books and yet I go browsing for new ones online or borrow from the library:P

message 94: by Jennifer (last edited Jan 27, 2017 09:55AM) (new)

Jennifer J. | 561 comments I'm terrible about that too!! I finally had to start getting rid of my books once I read them because I had waaaay too many. I moved about a year ago and gave 10 big boxes of books to the used book store....and I still had 6 big boxes I had to move!! And yet I still go to the library and book stores....

Silje (sikna) | 908 comments Did everybody have a nice weekend? I'm currently sitting on the edge of the sofa, my heart pounding, watching the norwegian male handball players fighting for the gold against France...only fifteen minutes left!!

Silje (sikna) | 908 comments ugh...we lost...Oh well, silver is not too bad=)

message 98: by K~Terror (new)

K~Terror (k-terror) | 506 comments Congrats on the silver! Still an excellent finish!

I've been taxing my daughter around to lacrosse practice and running errands so haven't watched anything today. My son came home last Thursday from college with the flu - which wasn't good - but it was nice hanging out with the dude for a few days and he went back to school today feeling good as new. Otherwise we went to a firefighters awards banquet Friday night where my husband, BIL & nephew all received awards. So that was pretty cool!

So sad tomorrow is Monday!! Weekend went way too fast!!

message 99: by Silje (new)

Silje (sikna) | 908 comments Sounds like a busy weekend! Hopefully your son didn't transfer the flu to the rest of you. But it is amazing how well you can feel after a weekend back home when you live someplace else=)
How exciting that they got awards!

How was your weekend Silje?
