Feversong SPOILER thread: Beware!!

it was such bullshit how they only had like 3 days together, but I'm glad he didn't just keel over and die or die during sex lol. I think if he had to die that was probably the best way to do it.
I'll go down with my Ryodani ship.. but yeah the ship's gonna need some repairs or SOMETHING.

Alina's entire personality consisted of being blonde and saying honey a lot lmao.

YES! remember the speculation of is Alina really alive...is the book using the her body nefariously. NO and NO. Alina's resurrection is to annoy the audience and go out clubbing with Mac in Dublin as the world is imploding around them. LMAO

right lmao.
also what happened to wecare? Why were they printing newspapers targetting dani? who were they? we never got the answers.

Ahahaha

majooooooor repairs. I almost abandoned ship tbh.

ryodan was fine before part 2.
i liked it better when he was a burns victim lmao he was so much more badass.
suddenly he became a self sacrificial christian grey saint #notmyryodan #saveryodan

What happened to that DUDE? I feel like he is watching HGTV at the club on all his office monitors at all hours of the day.
Quickly let me also ask, what was everyones impression of the Kat Kasteo dynamic? Was it going to be a threesome with Sean included? KMM just kind of quickly skimmed over it but i felt like she was implying Kasteo had feelings for Kat. but i read really fast.

yeah i had no idea what kmm was trying to say about kat/kasteo/sean? were they both going to be her baby daddies?
Does kasteo just want to protect kat's rock hard abs and bicep and tricep muscles since he was her gym instructor? who knows?

Yes, but Mac and Barrons' story was supposed to end after book 5. I think all the complaints over Iced which I think was the best of the fever books, brought them back. If people complain loud enough over the next book being about Dani, I'm sure KMM will drag M/B back out of the closet.

don't you abandon ship on me!! LOL
I didn't really get any impression on the Kat/Kasteo. Sean turned Unseelie Prince right? and i think jayne or someone said Sean and his woman wouldn't leave somewhere. kinda fuzzy on the deets

People take their workout secrets seriously! lol
Ans absolutely agree Kyra- think she will bring back Mac and Barrons if needed or if people cry enough. I did not read the QA but everyone seems like Dani books are happening. I mean did anyone read the QA did she say they are officially launching? Is she already writing them?
Originally I thought she implied she would only write the next Dani books if the sales for this book did well. The monetary demand would have to be there. That was my impression. But I really don't know for sure I don't follow KMM and read her QAs

This review and what everyone else has said on this board so far is making me not want to buy the book.

I know this is hard to believe considering what I said but I actually enjoyed this book much better than previous two. Its like a 3 for me. Have yet to officially rate it and review it. It usually takes me a few days to process it.
But since you have been on here getting spoiled you might want to get it at the library. Either way I would read it just to say i kind of finished the series. Because we all know NO One's story is ever over in these books. LOL

Thanks June. I'll probably buy it anyways just to finish the series and my book collection. Maybe I'll wait until B&N sends out another coupon before buying it. sigh

I read some posts on twitter and one person said there are two books coming, one about Dani and one totally different. It won't be a Jan/Feb release anymore. Probably late summer of next year.

yes lmao i totally forgot?
so the nine have to makeout with people to kill them. talk about the kiss of death.

I know! No wonder Ryodan whisked the guy away before he murdered him, he did not want to make anyone jealous.

Very complex feeligs about the book at the mo, and this time around it was actually Dani and not Mac I wanted to shake. I feel like Dani's character almost regressed the second she willed herself to love Dancer. I get why KMM did it but I had hoped she would have had the balls to not go the easy way.

I know. I'm also creating stories in my head and pretend the last three books didn't happen for Dani and Ryodan.
What the heck happen to Ryodan character? KMM can write Alpha men but she can't seem to write them together without making the other one weaker. In this case Ryodan was sacrifice just so we can know Barron is the Alphaest of the alpha...
I miss the Ryodan who was sparring with Barron, threatening Mac that Barron is running out of favor from him, the boss in Chester, and everything post Iced.
I really think KMM have plan for Ryodan to elicpse Barron, but backpedal because of the criticism she got from Iced.

I think since Iced was from Dani's teenage POV we all saw Ryo as she did, which was the ultimate badass ever no one could ever touch. but now she's older and we see he's also kind of just a man so maybe that's why ppl feel he's not the same. Ryodan's barely even in this one compared to the other books

From the comments here, I'm guessing it doesn't deserve the one star but I hope people aren't going to start embellishing reviews.

No, but I agree with you about Ryo. He was for sure asshole in Iced, but a lot of it was through Dani's filter. She was (still is) all about freedom and anarchy. No bosses, no rules. Our gurl is the best superpunk out on the streets!
But Ryo back then was not trying to be her friend. He was trying to get her attention and keep it on him. And no teenage counselling or having tea together have been successful with Dani in that department. He said he was super afraid she'll just die, coz she was still too young to know any better. So he was a total ass with her and she fumed around him. Which was pretty much where he wanted her to be. Whether he would have been different with her if she was not so prickly - we can only guess (my guess is - yes). And no idea if he actually enjoyed being such an ass to her back then (doubt it). But it did make their conversations hilarious. Coz Dani is all about being the best and he questioned it all the time.
But now that Dani isn't just a kid anymore, he figured its about time to stop mansplaining her all the time, because he is utterly in love with her. Which Thank God he hasn't indulged us into that yet. Hope it never turns into sugary romance. We saw that s not an end game option for our girl!
But all in all, I have hopes for them in the next books, because Dani will always hate him manipulating things his way. And he will always do it (eg Dancer love story). So presto - ground for bickering :-)

yes! high five Anomis! LOL #ryodani5ever
and yeah some of the uhhhh more intense fans always do that whenever the book gets less than stellar reviews. I just don't understand why people take it so personally lol. They probably got reviews taken down for having spoilers though

Don't worry, I'll go down with this ship! LOL. After reading and thinking about it I've concluded that Barrons has the depth of a mud puddle next to Ryodan. And you are right, I'm very .much over his drama and growling over nothing when it comes to Mac. Now Ryo.. talk about self sacrifice! No one understands our girl like Ryo. He could have had her but he knew that no doubt she would end up with the what ifs over Dancer. He must have been in torments during her sexathon because of his tat on her. In some ways he's already eclipsed Barrons for me. He is a much deeper man IMO. Kmm hasn't exactly given him much page time to learn much but what little he gets speaks volumns.
The whole dancer thing just was really off for me. But I get ryos pov on it..even if I didn't like it. It was definitely the comfy, best friend crush thing. Not the set fire to the sheets passion she would have with Ryodan.

yes Sbc! Barrons for me has become so one note- he cares about himself and Mac and that's IT. well maybe he cares about his persian rugs too lol.
I understand why folks are really disappointed with Ryodan and I felt that way too at first. but I liked how he actually put away himself and considered Dani and what she needs and wants. I like that he actually sees her for her. and now I do like that he didn't go all caveman and stop Dani from having something cute and innocent bc he knew that's something he could never give to her. he's experienced so much that it'd be wrong for him to not allow Dani to do the same. plus she deserved cute and innocent for once damn it! LOL

I just finished it and I completely agree. How KMM handled Dani's feelings toward Dancer was very heavy handed and forced. Almost as if KMM is unable to progress two characters at once. For one character to develop (Mac) another must adhere to simple two dimensional characterizations.
As for Ryodan not being as badass as he normally is, I didn't mind. In the end, I don't think his story is finished so it doesn't make sense for him to overshadow a character whose story is actually meant to be finished in this installment (although I know if KMM gets to publish more fever books with Dani she'll make sure Mac and Barrons make an appearance.) I also enjoyed that he stepped down and let Dani figure out what her heart wants. Doesn't mean that they're not meant to be, just that it'll take time (which is reflective of real life relationships).

LOL@ Barrons and his ways.
I just don't understand why folks feel as though Ryo couldn't give her what she needed. I don't necessarily buy that.
I guess it was very odd with Dancer and the way it went down. It was off.

I love Ryodan and do think he could have been gentle (lol) & tender enough to be her first but he couldn't give her what Dancer gave her imo. Dancer was 100% open and honest and young and uncomplicated. Yes I'll go down defending my geek boi til the last! lmaooo

I also thought Ryodan is the one that understood Dani the most and if he intend him to be the last then why could he be her first too?? After reading his inner thoughts again, I do understand his point of view. Dani is a curious creature, she will always wonder what could have been with Dancer.
Ryodan is ready for Dani but I don't think Dani is ready for Ryodan yet.
Is there any truth about the next book about Dani? I thought she said it will be a different character this time and outside of the current fever story?

hahaha melissa you go gurl. after sleeping on it i can forgive ryo for his soup kitchen self. I just hope he doesn't act so weird in the next book.

Things I liked:
- Mac's development and overall how the Sinsar Dubh storyline was resolved. I didn't mind Mac turning into the Seelie Queen, it's been clear for a long time that she'll never be a regular Joe again, and as everything keeps evolving, so did she. The mural scene at the end, and Cruce being alive definitely make it sound like this is not the end (which takes me back to KMM’s mixed messaging about the series overall). I also liked that Mac&Barrons finally found a comfortable place in their relationship.
-The kiss of death way the Nine kill Fae cracked me up. xD
- It’s taken a while to reconcile the touchy-feely Ryo with the bad ass from Iced, but were starting to see him more clearly now, and I appreciate him more and more for it. His self-sacrificing was starting to verge on masochistic in FS though, although I get his POV that Dani needs to grow up more. After this book, I couldn’t agree more.
The WTF moments:
- Alina: There was no point at all to her storyline. And then when she was gone again, Mac and her parents were like, "Glad you stopped by, buh bye".
- Dani confirming that she killed her mother was completely sidelined.
- Dani, Dani&Dancer. Where do I start... Everything went pretty much exactly as I'd hoped it wouldn't go. Something happened to Dani's character development midway through the book, and suddenly she was neither using her intellect nor growing as a person to see the people around her clearly (a part from brief flashes, then she was firmly in denial for most of the time). In fact, she regressed on every level and I actually resented KMM for bringing the v-card thing to the front in this book. She wasn’t ready for it yet. Those scenes with Dancer were painful to read, and the alley scene was downright cringe-worthy. I honestly could not believe KMM chose to completely assasinate the epicness of Dani losing her virginity. Of course, in real life epicness is often far from the truth, but in this case I fully agreed that it was something Dani deserved to get and was on her way toward. Ryo would have been a much better first time for her, not in FS because the time wasn’t right yet, but further down the line. It would have been more important to focus on her getting that family foundation and a sense of belonging (that was hinted at in the end) in order before advancing to other things in her development. Now it just felt like a cop out that she has to lose her virginity at this point instead of waiting to get more in touch with her emotions and what, or who, she really wants. She even had those moments of seeing Ryo clearly and understanding that he understood her in a way no one ever will. I believe she truly did love Dancer in her own way, but not in the right way for this to happen yet, and the whole development from friend to suddenly wanting to rip each other clothes off was completely rushed and did not feel authentic for Dani. It was a pity f*ck, and they both deserved better than that. She wasn’t being honest with herself which is something that she’s been so good at up to this point. It would have taken more balls recognise their relationship for what it was and to stay friends till the end. And my god, the Dancer death scene was just way overkill…
- The total shipwreck for Dani&Ryo: I’m not sure I’ve ever wanted to yell at a character to pull their head out of their ass as much as here. Dani is so in denial about her feelings fo Ryo that most of the time she can’t even say his name, let alone have a meaningful conversation with him. And we’ve been at this exact point for 3 books now. All of the scenes towards the end of the book that should have carried more emotional punch (her telling him about Shazam and her time in the Silvers and Ryo showing his past to her) and make them understand each other were just rushed and felt oddly flat. They had a much better connection in the first half of the book even though the interaction was minimal. Also, him having to bear all the feelings Dani had Dancer was just icky. She even knew that the tat conveys emotion but did not consider it for a moment (that we know of). I think my biggest frustration at this point is having all those alternate universes in my head of how things could have played out for Dani, and Dani & Ryo in this book, and reconciling myself to the direction KMM actually chose (maybe this will come with time and distance). Sadly, this leaves us firmly back to square 1 with them and as much as I want to stay on the ship, I'm doing the math now that 4 books in, there's been little advancement on their storyline (with both of them making the wrong choice about each other in FS), and even if we do get a book centered completely on them sometime in the distant future, it won't be enough because there won’t be enough time to develop their relationship to the level it would need to be. Heck, it took Mac and Barrons 9 books to get to that point. KMM completely sidelined their relationship when she should have been advancing it.
- Shazam: I was glad Dani got Shazam back, but this too felt too rushed just to wrap up the storyline. There were other people on the scene whose reactions would have been nice to see but we didn’t get that.

I'll rewiew it on second re-read, coz i skip most of parts actually.
cried a lot!

Thank you Emily! U put in words the whole Dani-Dancer-Ryo story very correctly imo.
And i agree there was no need for puncturing the v card in this book. It feels a little like the next books are planned to be on Dani and Ryo relationship development, but with the perfect human Dancer (and him being the sweet opposite of Ryo) around - it was impossible to make Dani focus on Ryo only. That would make her seem shallow. Like she cares only about superpowers (what Dancer accused her of anyways). So it was like - Dancer needs to free space so that Ryo can settle in, but in a way that does not compromise the kindness and big heart of Dani. So lets kill off Dancer, instead of making Dani choose the superhero over the human. But if we are gonna kill off Dancer, lets also make the best of it and make sure it both hurts and empowers Dani. We cant be having her depressed over a meaningless human death, so lets make it meaningful. Lets make it the death that tought Dani how to love. :-( and in the end it was just another sacrifice she had to make because of that big heart of hers.
And i know that what i ll say is not nice beacuse we are talking about a dying boy in love, but the way events unrolled it feels like he didnt give her other choice but to become his lover:
- First, Dancer accusing Dani of being selfish and chosing not to let others care about her [iced].. even though being the genius he is - he must have felt its out of fear and broken heart. Not selfishness.
- then, him accusing her her interests in people are only superpower-driven [feverborn] ... while he himself is also chosing the superhero over the borring singer. .
- finallt telling her everyone has been walking on egg-shells around him coz of his heart and accusing her of doing the same [feversong], thus encouraging her to give him her best without withholding it in the pretend of wanting to keep him safe and alive. And this immediately tied her hands. From this point any backtracking and witholding she would do - would only be interpreted as her just not being there for him as he needs it.
- and also clearly showing insecurity over her interest in Ryodan ...which noone can blame him for.. but it made things even more off, because it made Dani try hard to convince him in a believable way that she chooses him (i think this is when she also convinced herself of it too.. and stopped being honest with herself)
- and toss in the fact that he is dying and is her best friend
Well of course all this will push her to give him the love him wants. And he is supposedly genius. He must have known he was pushing her. And of course he must have known that on some levels it wasnt what Dani would have done if he wasnt dying. So he let her sacrifice something that was important to her for him. And of course he was dying. So not sure anyone can blame him.
But it for sure makes everything about the sex scenes feel wrong :-(

Thank you Emily! U put in words the whole Dani-Dancer-Ryo story very correctly imo.

Hehe, Anomis, I was just about to come back and edit my comment to say that I totally agree with what you said in post no 81! And I agree with what you said here. And the more I think about this, the madder I get that this happened, because she should have gotten the time to make her choice freely and with open eyes instead of being rushed into it only to get even more pain... I can officially now say that this book was the end of the Dani&Ryo ship for me, because by the end of the book Dani was virtually unrecognisable. :(
As far as D&D go, I'm sure KMM meant to keep it real and show that this is how it often goes and that at this point in time Dani needed to pretend she can be normal and be satisfied with normal, simple things. But she, and we, already know normal is not her thing and never will be and had she been upfront with herself she would have admitted this. If you want to put a deeper spin on it, it's Dani's lack of love and fundamental need to be loved that drove her to please the other party who was pushing her to give them something that they wanted (for comparison, this is the exact opposite of what Ryo is doing). I don't feel like she was completely in the driver's seat with this choice and that's what makes it so uncomfortable. And judging by the way she's shutting Ryo out by the end of the book, she knows this deep down.

I think KMM never go 3some, she is so elegant to do it, she want things simple even for second chars. Once kmm wrote this on instagram as a reply on my heavy stalk to give us more Dani:
karenmariemoningofficial I get gazillion different emails from a gazillion fans who all seem to feel they know precisely how my story should go (don’t even get me started on the ones who want Mac to have a foursome with select members of the Nine). Instead I keep patiently telling the story the way I want to tell it—and getting a gazillion more emails about how I’m doing it wrong. Funny thing is, most of those emails disagree with each other and the person with the bird’s-eye view of those gazillion emails (that would be me) sees that there is no way in the world I could pander to any one of you without pissing off the other and thoroughly offending myself. Ergo, I write it the way I want to. That’s the only bottom line an artist can have. All that being said, if I could go back in time, I wouldn’t write ICED when I did. I would have continued straight on with Mac’s story, wrapped it up, then written about Dani. It was confusing for readers the way I did it.

Thank you Emily! U put in words the whole Dani-Dancer-Ryo story very correctly ..."
:-)
I actually dont think Dani was really manipulated/pushed (by Ryo or Dancer) to make her choice. I do think they did push her to make a choice (consciously or not) but what she chose was on her. ultimately she made her choice because of her personality, not because of the people around her and what they were doing or saying. I gues she chose to be with Dancer because of the responsibility she feels towards everyone and her ability to love unconditionally. She chose to give Dancer the best of her because she loves him enough to see this is what he needed. And of course its the nicest thing you can do for a person - put their needs infront of yours. She even said it in Iced.
I dont think she made the wrong choice and i also dont think Dancers situation or words are to be hold accountable for her choices either. Heck even Ryo cant be blamed. His hands were also tied - Dancer was dying. No way he d chose to compete with a dying man. He loves Dani too much to let his feelings stop her from cherishing her little time with her friend.
The only thing to be hold responsible for how things went are the circumstances. Because they were the only thing that pushed the events this way... and circumstancial love isnt what our girl's epic v card loss should have been :-((

2. The third request of the king is still remained to be seen. Meaning more Mac/Barrons plotline?
3. Mac/Barrons = Queen and King and it was implied that history is on a repeat. U think Mac will turn uber fae and after many years they ll get bored of each other and Barrons will find concubine? xD
4. What about Sweeper? Any chance he s not done? Cant be he just showed up to point to Mac/Dani their flaws, so that they work on them... maybe he was planing to take Dani heart to give it to Dancer? (Thats in case you still want to deny the part where Dancer wasnt supernatural xD )
5. Do you think Dani will have trouble chosing to become one of the 9 (10) because the means she ll lose her soul and never be with Dancer again in the afterlife?
6. What's up with those glasses, binoculars and Dani's bracelet?
7. You think there will be time skip in the next Dani book? I cant imagine her Ryo-centered story to happen right after her losing Dancer.
8. Shazam seems to be something more than we see. And considering the reputation of hel-cats, how come he is so attached and listening to Dani? Maybe there is something more to it?
9. Ah, and if Shazam was free all this time and was receiving "gifts" from Dani through the silver, why didnt he just pass through it and go to her?
10. During the kiss with Ryo, Dani tasted blood. You think it could have been his, and he basically fed her some of his weird shapeshifter blood, which might be the way these guys turn others into creatures like them?
idk I think K Mo brought her back to 1. track the book 2. die again so it's sad or something 3...."
i'm ok with danceri? (danixdancer whats their ship name?) because atleast dani is happy. whenever my girl is happy i'm happy. also ryodan was being soooo pathetic it really rained on my desire to see them together in this book lmao
