Nice, I'd give it a 3.5. I didn't regret reading it at all! There were just some things that kind of disappointed me. like Mac becoming the seelie queen, macbook was defeated so early on, there wasn't nearly enough Ryodan for my tastes even without dani.
But I loved the scenes we got with Ryodan and Dani and Dancer/Dani was so precious. And I loved seeing Barrons and Jada work together
Heeeeeyyy... so I'm done... not gonna lie, skimmed over some boring UK parts.I need to get my thoughts out... the book didn't thrill me... there were parts I loved and parts that I may or may not have rolled my eyes at for the cheesiness.
From the beginning, Jo's death was epic. It was OMG, but also disturbingly satisfying
The way the book was beaten so quickly was a little disappointing only because I was hoping the whole book would be about fighting the MacBook, and the book's POV was fun. I could have actually done with more of the book's POV.
Loved the decapitation scene. Perfection.
Dunno how I feel about Saint Ryodan, but their kiss scene was what dreams are made of. 10/10 I read it multiple times.
I liked that Ryo backed down, but... there was something that bothered me about the Dani/Dancer relationship. I think my main problem was that it felt so rushed. Also, so lame that Dancer was just a human with a shitty heart and super blue eyes. Come on! Their relationship was sweet, but something about it felt forced. I mean it was rushed because he was dying, and I think that was my problem with it, it felt like they were only together because he was dying... Like I felt the love between them and everything... but I feel like it was a love overload in such a short period of time, and I think that's why it didn't feel right to me. I like that she lost her virginity to him (and not in the silvers or whatever), but idk, was kind of disappointed with the vibe I got from them... I mean at first ^like you guys said above I was like noooooooo. Totally wanted her with Ryodan, but after they got together, it just seemed rushed. I liked the awkward sweetness, and that Dancer was her first boyfriend and everything, but idk hard to explain something felt forced.
Mac and Barrons UK king and queen with the mural. I lol'd. Wasn't into it, I mean Mac being queen okay, we kind of predicted something like that, but barrons being the king is just too cheasy for my liking. Unless Cruce steals it away from him??? Idk what to think about that.
^To above, I think Ryo was WeCare to mess with her. We know that he's good at writing now lol. I think I'd give it 3 stars, but I'd have to do another read through without skimming the boring parts lol.
omg guys i finally finished the book. lmaothis book was like a big ball of really good heart wrenching parts and wtf cheesiness?
I loved Dancer and Dani's little romance, it was so cute and pure lmao. (i'm glad u spoiled this for me melissa otherwise i'd of been like nooooooo too)
Mac as Seelie Queen was grossing me out lmao. So cheesy. At the end when the song came out of her and she levitated light everywhere or whatever all I could think of was Fiona at the end of shrek turning into an ogre lmao.
Mac's POV was far less monologue thank god. But she did slip a magnolia, a daddy and a sweet iced tea into the book lmao i swear kmm is putting it in the book just to mess with us at this point
I really liked Part 1 when MacBook was going cray, Part 2 was so f*cking random lmao.
Like was I the only one sorta annoyed by how Mac would skip months and weeks by summarising all the action in 2 sentences?
Lor and Jo? What even lmao. Why did Lor go all psycho? What was the point of Mac fighting Lor? For mac's self confidence?
Also Dani can't catch a freaking break lmao. Even she was like why the fuck is my life so rocky lmao. Atleast she found Shazam!

I really didn't like the mural thing with Barrons possibly being in line to be the next Unseelie King? gahI will say for the most part Barrons and Mac's relationship stopped being so fuckbuddy finally. They felt like they were actually in a relationship it only took 9 books lmao.

2) No the book was just f*cking with Mac lol. She just ends up passing out in the bathroom and waking up as Mac cause the book is playing mind games.

Thanks! i must be reading this too fast.But i'm really already feeling like we are building up to Macs the BEST type of ending once more. LOL How many freaking times does Mac have to have her ego stroked and told by BArrons she's the best. i feel like I've been dancing this dance for like 10 books! Mac needs to grow a pair of literary balls and been done already!

I am finally just skipping thru certain parts i can't take much more. The whole dani and dancer thing what cheese!! seriously! this whole book seems to be packed with cheese. i don't even know where to begin. The first 11 chapters had such promise but once the book was expelled from Mac, so anticlimactic, its really losing drama. And after all this time i finally figured out why i hate the Mac storyline so much. Its because her 'villain' the book is so BORING! it does the same stupid stuff over and over again.
And back to the dancer dani thing. In Iced they had good chemistry together but now since Dani has gone thru all these transformations dancer seems like such a child compared to her life experiences. Their hook up feels flawed. it feels fake. And cheesiest moment goes to Dancer's inevitable fate. It feels like an episode of Days of our Lives.
Just saw this on Amazon review. Does anyone that has finished the book agree with this? It's been my fear for Ryodan's character the last couple of books so I'd love your opinions. "Don't waste your time on this book if you like Ryodan and Dani and were hoping they would end up together. Ryodan was reduced to nothing while Karen Marie Moning basically built JBZ an altar. Every word, every action of JBZ was done at the expense of Ryodan. To make him look smaller and inconsequential. You will be disappointed reading this book if you are a fan of Ryodan. Can't believe Moning said Ryodan would eclipse JBZ. What a joke. What happened in this book was the exact opposite."

Sort of. Tbh ryodan was like a background character in this. Jzb was like front & center.
My two least favorite part so far:1. The Lor Mac confrontation. Just weirdly done.
2.The Dani and Alina introduction moment (again)--awkward. lol
But I never thought I would say this but the resolution for the UK and concubine. Satisfying.
And YES-- Ryodan who? JZB ruled this book.He makes his brother look like a schmuck in every scene together. And Ryodan even made himself look like a loser when he essentially gave his blessing to Dani before she ran off to have sex with Dancer. And their hookup then felt like a pity hook up because it felt like Dani was pissed by not getting her way with Ryodan. imo

Also I know this was Mac's book and all. But I thought Dani would be more relevant to the plot? lmao she basically just stood around in all the scenes especially in part 2.

I did not even think about it like that but you are right. Not even just Dani, no one was relevant to any problem solving except Mac. JZB just strutted and provided muscle at times. The rest of the nine added nothing especially Ryodan. in all reality Mac accomplished all feats herself.

I will add I actually liked this book better than last 2. It was more satisfying since somethings were resolved. I just did not really like how they got resolved. LOL

Im amazed KMM braved for it actually. But this is what she was probably planning all along - for Dani to have human, innocent and normal. Hence Dancer. I can see that was her plot line and can go along with for awhile. I just dont think she really managed to build up to it at all...
What makes it a bit more difficult to swallow for me is that for the last 4 book it was obvious that Dani is attracted/intrigued by Ryodan. Dancer was friendzoned BIG time. She was saying how he s like a sibling to her in Iced. And after she came as Jada she was super stiff around him (and much more prickly and emotional, if possible at all in Burned, around Ryodan). And since then it felt like Dani was around Dancer out of habit and safety. And then suddenly she got naked in front of him :-))
It was too platonic even when it got physical.
Im guessing this will be in contrast with how it with be with Ryodan... but i have to say at this point Ryo pissed me kinda.
He was telling to himself that he s not for virgins and Dani needs to go get her sweet romance somewhere else before going to his big-bad-sex-machine-self, ready for some real action.

I can understand him stepping down as he realizes that Dani loves Dancer and her heart is broken from the fact that he is dying. That he is stepping down to leave them have their space and enjoy the time they have together and etc.
But Ryo dont be going around saying your are not made for sweet love and gentle sex. Coz he should be able to do that after millennia of sex. And he should damn well be offering that to our girl no matter virgin or not. Wtf.

I agree with you about Ryodan, I thought him stepping down was kinda lame. I get it-but it was kinda disappointing from him.
But I disagree about Dancer and Dani!!! As they've been my part time ship for awhile, I think Dani's always had feelings for him she just wasn't ready to look at them.
She says shes never had a brother but think he's like one to her. while also calling him her hot friend and talkin about his gorgeous eyes lol. not brotherly like at all!! she totes had a crush.
And then when she came back as Jada- he was one of the only people happy to see her and reach even a little part of her. She wasn't ready to let anyone in but Dancer got the closest to it. I do agree that Dancer's condition was what kinda got the ball going but I think it just made her realize exactly how much he meant and always meant to her.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought that!! I think she definitely could explore them more if she wanted to. I mean mac's the freakin queen of fae, how are they gonna deal with that. and what if JZB really is the new UK? ugh.

:-)) im swaying from one opinion to another. At times i get it. But most of the time its still a nono in my head. Maybe indeed what makes it difficult in my head is that they hooked up after Dani learned he s dying. It made everything pre-mature somehow. Like they had no time and she rushed to love him and was willing to give him everything she knew would make him happy. And there is nothing wrong in that. It was very kind and loving act. Its how Dani is. But it felt bit sacrificial. Like she embraced normal, leaving behind all her irrational childish dreaminess. Which was such a sweet part of her!
And its also a bit unfair that indeed after all the shit in her life, and her dream of epic virginity loss - it all came down to her just having a chance to be normal. I dont think she really wants normal. And i dont think she deserves normal. She deserves epic :-( and that why it feels off
Dancer made her heart ache and bleed and feel. And this was the whole point of this hook up - to teach her how to feel. And show her that feeling comes with pain but its worth it.
But im thinking - there could have been less deadly ways of teaching her that :-( why take her friend away? So that they dont have to face the problem of break up ( coz the ultimate hea is Ryo)? So lets make Dancer dying so that heart-bleeding and loving Dani grabs and holds on to him while she has the chance with everything she s got and can give to him, in order to show her what love is? It was not a sweet teenage love. It was bitter sweet tragedy that tought her to love the person who will leave her soon. You could see this was what she was gettong from the whole situation - even with Ryo she went down that road. Thought he ll die and so she kissed him. This is pain of losing not love :-(
Ultimately it felt a bit like the easy way out of hooking them up for short in order to show us how self-sacrificial Ryo is, and how Dani maybe enjoying normal, but deep down she needs something more.
We knew that anyway :-(
If there is a Mac/Barron's door open please god slam it shut - we beat that horse into the ground. Can we move on now and have them take the backseat for a minute? I'm still holding out for the sequel to Iced...lol

Like if KMM had wrote it originally how she thought she was it would not have felt so awkward to me. Dani spent so many pages off somewhere and forcing a fast transformation into adulthood made me fee like she out grew Dancer. weird I know.

There were some cheesy moments thought LOL which is unbelievable considering what gruesome moments there also were.... but ok. If i wanna be picky -- 4.5
