Andrea Wright, this is your thread for 2017. I have included the link to the required format thread and an example. If you had a 2016 thread - it is archived - but you can still add books to it for the last few days of December.

Please follow the standard required format below - I hope you enjoy your reading in 2017. Here is also a link for assistance with the required guidelines:

Review: You can add text from a review you have written but no links to any review elsewhere even goodreads. And that is about it. Just make sure to number consecutively and just add the months.

IMPORTANT - THE REVIEW SHOULD BE SHORT AND SWEET - THERE ARE NO LINKS OF ANY KIND IN THE BODY OF THE REVIEW ALLOWED. NONE. DO NOT REFER TO ANY OTHER BOOK IN YOUR BRIEF REVIEW. THE ONLY BOOK CITED IN YOUR REVIEW IS THE ONE YOU ARE REVIEWING - NO OTHERS. ALL LINKS TO OTHER THREADS OR REVIEWS ARE DELETED IMMEDIATELY - THERE WILL BE NO WARNING. 1. The Girl with the Windup Heart (Steampunk Chronicles, #4) by Kady Cross by Kady Cross Kady Cross
Finish date: January 3rd 2017
Genre: Science fiction, Steampunk, YA
Rating: B
Review: This is the 4th and final book of the Steampunk Chronicles and a nice end to a series that I wanted more of. The characters are all fabulous and strong in their own right so this series can appeal to many. This series started me down the winding path that has become Steampunk.

Andrea Wright | 27 comments 2. The Burning Page (The Invisible Library, #3) by Genevieve Cogman by Genevieve Cogman Genevieve Cogman
Finish date: January 15th 2017
Genre: Fantasy, Science Fiction
Rating: A
Review: This is the 3rd book of the Invisible Library series and just as fabulous as the first two books. The characters and world are even more developed as the story progresses and a clearer understanding of the idea behind the library is gained in this book. Fantastic and quick read!

Andrea Wright | 27 comments 3. Still Life With Crows (Pendergast, #4) by Douglas Preston by Douglas Preston Douglas Preston
Finish date: January 16th 2017
Genre: Mystery, Fiction, Horror, Thriller
Rating: B
Review: This is the 4th book of the Pendergast series and the first one that actually scared me a bit. Pendergast is an exceptional character and every book makes me love him even more. I highly recommend this series to anyone!

Andrea Wright | 27 comments 4. Burning Kingdoms (Perfect Ruin, #2) by Lauren DeStefano by Lauren DeStefano Lauren DeStefano
Finish date: January 19th 2017
Genre: Science Fiction, YA, Fantasy
Rating: C
Review: This is the second book in the Internment series and while I loved the first book, this one was a bit dark and depressing. I am hoping the third book is able to pull the story together into more of a positive ending for the series.

Andrea Wright | 27 comments 5. Broken Crowns (Perfect Ruin, #3) by Lauren DeStefano by Lauren DeStefano Lauren DeStefano
Finish date: January 21st 2017
Genre: Science Fiction, YA, Fantasy
Rating: B
Review: This is the final book of the series and it had a few moments where I thought I may end up being angry at the author, but the series ended well and I can say that I recommend this series.

Finish date: January 26th 2017
Genre: Fantasy, Steampunk, YA

Review: Fantastic first book to a new series! Steampunk and Sherlock lovers will wait impatiently with me for the next book to be published.

Andrea Wright | 27 comments 7. Lyra's Oxford (His Dark Materials, #3.5) by Philip Pullman by Philip Pullman Philip Pullman
Finish Date: January 27th
Genre: Fantasy, YA, Fiction
Rating: C
Review: This was a very short novella about Lyra and witches that was an enjoyable return into the world of His Dark Materials since it has been so long since I last read the series.

Andrea Wright | 27 comments 8. Brimstone (Pendergast, #5/Diogenes, #1) by Douglas Preston by Douglas Preston Douglas Preston
Finish Date: January 30th
Genre: Mystery, Thriller, Horror, Suspense
Rating: B
Review: The 5th Pendergast novel and once again it did not let me down. The end has made me very impatient for the next book!

Andrea Wright | 27 comments FEBRUARY

9. The Clockwork Scarab (Stoker & Holmes, #1) by Colleen Gleason by Colleen Gleason Colleen Gleason
Finish Date: February 2nd 2017
Genre: Steampunk, YA, Mystery
Rating: B
Review: The first book in a series that has a fun concept of two main character being ladies related to Sherlock Holmes and Bram Stocker with wonderful skills of deduction and fighting. It takes a bit to get used to reading from the two different views but by the end I really liked both characters and have started the next book.

Andrea Wright | 27 comments 10. Dance of Death by Douglas Preston by Douglas Preston Douglas Preston
Finish Date: February 4th 2017
Genre: Mystery, Horror, Suspense
Rating: B
Review: The 6th Pendergast novel and I have come to appreciate that sometimes characters die and sometimes you get to find out that they actually didn't. Bring on the next book!

Thank you! I have slowed down now that classes have started again. I'm still hoping to get at least two finished for Feb. I have about 10 started and nothing is sucking me in at the moment.

Andrea Wright | 27 comments 11. The Book of the Dead (Pendergast, #7; Diogenes, #3) by Douglas Preston by Douglas Preston Douglas Preston
Finish Date: February 13th 2017
Genre: Thriller, Mystery, Fiction
Rating: A
Review: What an ending! The 7th in the Pendergast series and possibly one of my favorites.

Andrea Wright | 27 comments 12. The Wheel of Darkness (Pendergast, #8) by Douglas Preston by Douglas Preston Douglas Preston
Finish Date : February 25th 2017
Genre: Thriller, Fiction, Mystery
Rating: C
Review: The 8th book in the Pendergast series and my least favorite thus far. Most of the book is set on an ocean liner and Pendergast is just not his normal self it seems so between the setting and the characters it was just not as enjoyable to me personally.

Andrea Wright | 27 comments 13. King's Cage (Red Queen, #3) by Victoria Aveyard by Victoria Aveyard Victoria Aveyard
Finish Date: February 27th 2017
Genre: Fantasy, YA, Dystopian
Rating: C
Review: The 3rd book in the Red Queen series and possibly my least favorite. The book was long and took me forever to get into it because it was a bit depressing, then it got really good and I flew through the middle, but then ended up not being very happy with the ending. I'm not sure where the next book will head, but I will surely read it when it comes out.

You are welcome - make sure to look at the introduction thread for the folder - there have been some folks who have posted rankings and reviews on books that we are currently discussing or have scheduled for discussion - on those books - if they were posted after January 10th - should simply have TBA for the ranking and review segments until the group discussions are over. Then just add whatever ranking and review you want - we ask only that they be civil.

However, this rarely happens to be the case but just check the books that are scheduled if you have any questions. We are here to help.
