Lisa (lisathebooklover) | 9244 comments We went to a Christmas fair today. I wasn't sure if I would be up to going but luckily I felt well enough to go along for a couple of hours. They had some really great stalls there and we ended up buying quite a few things, most of which was food. We also bought some chocolate and chilli flavoured vodka. I don't really drink anymore due to my health conditions and medication but I might allow myself a sip or two of this ๐Ÿ˜‰

Peggy - Sounds like you had a fab food experience. I think I would have been still hungry though! :-)

I've found that Emergen-C works great to thwart getting a cold/winter crap. It has a heavy dose of vitamin C and generally does the trick.

message 4254: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 18550 comments I've used that a lot Lilisa. I think I need to get me some vitamins again soon.

Your meal sounds amazing Peggy!

I like the sound of the chilli vodka Lisa.

Meanwhile we've gotten about 50 inches of rain since April 1 with over 12" of rain in 9 days in October

Rusalka (rusalkii) | 19221 comments Thanks all. We had a horrible nights sleep. Lexx couldn't get to sleep, and kept crashing about, which woke me up. He then slept badly the rest of the night while I couldn't get back to sleep.

When I did get back to sleep, I was dreaming about the last page I read in my book (before I decided I needed to put it down and go to sleep at 1.30am) over and over and over.

And then, in this not sort of sleeping state, I woke myself up FOUR times SINGING in my sleep. Apparently, ladies and gentlemen, this is something I do. I had no idea, Lexx has never mentioned it before. And I mention it to him as a funny, ridiculous story, he just non-chantley goes "Yeah, you do that". WHAT?!?

So I get to work wreaked (I wasn't going to go) and my work mates baked me a cake, and had a lunch all planned for me. Which I spilled down my front in 3 places, and then squirted cherry juice (another present, cherries just came into season on the weekend) down my front too. My Mum called to wish me happy birthday, and I told her this, and now she thinks she's a failure as I can't feed myself at 34.

Finished my book this arvo though lol. Small wins.

Peggy (pebbles84) | 15868 comments I'm sorry you're having such a bad day and night Rus, but you did make me laugh (sorry for that too..)

I agree that it is worthy to mention to someone that they sing in their sleep. Years ago I apparently said something while sleeping to Rob, I have no idea what it was, and he was annoyed with me for a few days for saying that thing. He refused to tell me what I said, and now it's years later and I still don't know.

Rusalka (rusalkii) | 19221 comments Peggy wrote: "I'm sorry you're having such a bad day and night Rus, but you did make me laugh (sorry for that too..)"

Not at all. It's just a comedy of errors. I mean, come on. Who sings in their sleep?

Oh that's rude. You can't get mad and never tell. Our housemate stopped talking to our other one (they are best mates) for a day. B had no idea what on earth he had done. It came out the next day, that T was pissed at B, as B had slept with T's girlfriend (now wife), in T's dream. God that was a funny conversation to walk into in the morning
B: "But it wasn't me! It's your dream! It's your fault!"
T: "BUT YOU SHOULD KNOW BETTER!!!!"

Peggy (pebbles84) | 15868 comments Haha, too funny!

But yes, rude. So I got mad at him for being mad at me about something I said in my sleep and not telling me what it was so I couldn't even defend myself. Anyway, it's 8 years or so later now and we're still together so it can't have been that bad. Occassionally it comes up but he still refuses to tell me (to be honest I sometimes doubt if he even remembers what it was about).

Rusalka (rusalkii) | 19221 comments Peggy wrote: "Occassionally it comes up but he still refuses to tell me (to be honest I sometimes doubt if he even remembers what it was about)."

Lol. He probably has. Although Lexx does remind me of when we needed to find a new share house 12 years ago, and he came into our bedroom with me turning and yelling "RAINE AND HORNE" (one of our big real estate agents) at him, and promptly snoring.

You get a free pass when you're sleeping. Your brain does weird things while you dream, which you should never be held accountable for.

That is hilarious!

My husband usually speaks in his sleep. Half of the time he repeats "Aha", as if he were agreeing with what someone is saying. I always tell him "You are SO compliant when you are asleep!"

message 4268: by Peggy (new)

Peggy (pebbles84) | 15868 comments Haha Sandra.

I've heard my boyfriend talk in his sleep a couple of times too. I always make an effort not to hear it, for some reason I find things someone says in their sleep very private.

Travis (travistousant) | 6011 comments Happy late birthday Rusalka. I get to talking a lot in my sleep but I don't believe I've sang

message 4270: by Rusalka, Moderator (new)

Rusalka (rusalkii) | 19221 comments I agree to an extent, Peggy. Lexx rarely, but sometimes talks in his sleep, and so these are there for us to poke fun at each other (but not seriously) but not in public unless previously discussed.

When we went to the snow a few years ago, we shared a room with 3 other people. I was so worried about talking in my sleep. Apparently, all I did was fall asleep before the others, roll over, and let rip the loudest fart ever. Apparently the room was in hysterics, and I missed the whole thing. I'm not sure what's better...

I assume I was singing "Rollin' in the Deep" as that was what was in my head when I woke up each time.

message 4271: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 18550 comments Nights like that suck Rusalka. At least you had some treats from/with your work colleagues. Crazy it's never come in conversation that you sing in your sleep. Complete songs? Songs you know? Made up? Are you any good? Did you enjoy your book?

I travelled all the way in to Bristol today for a meeting and they had double booked me. Very frustrating. So i bought some fleece from the fabric shop to make a blanket and now I'm back on the train home.

Thanks Travis. A benefit of having friends all over the world is that your birthday lasts 36 hours or so. It's the 20th, so don't think you're late yet :D

Kristie | 19324 comments You ladies are making laugh this morning. I know Iโ€™ve talked in my sleep when I was younger, but never sang that Iโ€™m aware of. Iโ€™m not the best sleeper, so I have many nights like yours, Rusalka. I think if I were to talk or sing now, Iโ€™d just wake myself up.

message 4274: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 60073 comments I'm sorry but I was laughing at the comedy of errors, too. But then laughed even harder with the fart story.

I don't know if I still talk in my sleep, but I did as a kid. My mother heard me talking one night and questioned me until I told her the name of the boy I had a crush on. The next morning, she teased me at the breakfast table.

I know that I have laughed in my sleep because it woke me up.

I hate those dreams like your book dream, Rusalka. I have them but work related - crunching numbers over and over.

message 4275: by Roz (new)

Roz | 4551 comments Love the fart story, Rus. I'm home along getting my house in order before my Thanksgiving guests arrive tomorrow night, so I figured I'd catch up on some Goodreads threads. Oh my, I don't sing in my sleep but my husband says I talk, laugh and on occasion yell (scream?). I guess I have vivid dreams. The worst ones are the ones where I'm late for something, lost, or out in public inappropriately dressed, if you know what I mean. When I was a kid I also walked in my sleep. After I fell down a flight of stairs, my parents put up a gate at the top of the staircase.

Oh that sucks you got double booked when you travelled down there. They travelling to you next time?

I think I just make musically noises. From my observation the other night, I had a song in my head and I must have been trying to sing along. It was bassy, so I rumbled my way awake. And it was so loud (Lexx pointed out it wouldn't have been as loud as I thought, and usually isn't). From what I heard, it wasn't great. Wouldn't be winning a Grammy, I'm better when I'm awake lol.

message 4280: by Rusalka, Moderator (new)

Rusalka (rusalkii) | 19221 comments I am very glad my nocturnal noises, singing or flatulence, has made you all laugh. I've been giggling for days.

Janice wrote: "I hate those dreams like your book dream, Rusalka. I have them but work related - crunching numbers over and over."
Oh I have fitting dreams. They started when I was working at the bakery. They are work dreams mixed with tetris. I would have X number of sausage rolls, or pies, and they had to fit on the tray NO MATTER WHAT, and I would try, and there would always be one left over. Rinse, repeat, 2 hours of my life. Now it's not sausage rolls, but if I get into a fitting dream pattern, I just get up. It's all over. I think the last one was plastic balls...

I was dreaming about spreadsheets at the end of October. Work dreams are also the sign to start looking for a new job.

Ooo nice one. I used to sleepwalk too. Last time was out of the top bunk while still in a sleeping bag at our holiday house on Christmas Eve, and I crashed on to the concrete floor (which did have carpet tiles on it, but my bum didn't notice). Never slept walked again.

Roz | 4551 comments Thanksgiving traditions? We always have it in the same house. Years ago this was my in-laws house but we moved into it about 9 years ago. The day before Thanksgiving, the boys (hubby, 2 sons and grandson) go shopping for supplies and to pick up the ordered fresh turkey. Dinner that night is always pizza. Everyone cooks, so we divide up the dishes, cooks choose what they want to make but some dishes are permanent responsibilities (I do turkey, hubby does stuffing and gravy, one son does mashed potatoes...). My younger son added stuffed cabbage a few years ago in honor of my mother-in-law. Breakfast the day of is always bagels, lox, and cream cheese, assorted smoked fish, scones. And we all have to watch the parade and later football. Even throw one around the backyard weather and energy permitting. Friday we just hang out, eating leftovers, relaxing. And on Saturday my younger son and my husband go to the track (horses) but that's not set in stone. But whether they go or not, some betting and watching does take place. Unfortunately my other son and his family are already on a plane back to Texas, so he doesn't get to participate in that event. We do a lot of laughing and try to keep serious discussions for a different day.

KimeyDiann | 2174 comments Oh Rus, thank you for the laughs! I'm sorry your birthday wasn't all smooth sailing, but at least you were able to share the comedy with us! :)

I don't think I regularly talk in my sleep, but I know I have on occasion. Once, early in our marriage, I semi-attacked my husband in my sleep. He tried to kiss me on the forehead or something while I was asleep and he said I sat up and started hitting him! I have no memory of doing it though.
And once not too long ago I was dreaming something was on the bed, a bug or monster or something, and I started flailing around in my sleep and pushed my mini-schnauzer off the bed! I felt so bad afterwards! I woke up when she hit the floor.

KimeyDiann | 2174 comments We've had our first real dose of fall weather here. Saturday was high winds all day then thunderstorms in the evening. A lot of people lost power but thankfully not me. Sunday the temps really started dropping. Yesterday morning I woke up to frost on the ground and temps around 27f. Last night was only slightly warmer and the forecast shows pretty much the same for the next several days.

Travis (travistousant) | 6011 comments My son and niece had half day of school. My job was to drop them off at neighbors and get to parent conferences. I drop off they walk in house turn around I wave they wave I go. My wife picks them up. They're home for a while and casually tell my wife yeah when Daddy dropped us off no one was even home. We went inside and waited and then pretty soon. We saw them outside so we went outside to see them. Yeah. I'm in the running for dad of the year right now. I did check with neighbors they said they weren't alone for more than 5 minutes max. Lol. Go ahead laugh I did. What else is there to do about it.

message 4293: by KimeyDiann (new)

KimeyDiann | 2174 comments We've been having some upgrades done at my work offices. New flooring, fresh paint, etc. The cabinets in my office were painted over the weekend and the fumes leftover were making me sick yesterday. I moved into an empty cubicle in the back to escape them. Since this is a short work week hopefully the long weekend will allow it to air out well enough I can move back to my normal space next week.

This morning I went into my office where I keep the petty cash to put some money in the lockbox, and it was empty! Someone who either knew where my key was or managed to find it, unlocked the drawer and took about $120. I don't have reason to go into the locked drawer very often, but I happened to get some money out on Friday and then opened it again today. Either someone on the painting crew or our cleaning company had to have taken it. I don't think anyone I work with would have done it.

Also she leaves them somewhere else too but I can't remember the details. If you haven't watched Green Wing, you should.
