I finished Leonard: My Fifty-Year Friendship with a Remarkable Man
by William Shatner
This book, written after Nimoy's death, is a tribute to the actor by his friend and
Star Trek co-star, William Shatner. It's a brief biography of both men, and I found it interesting, informative, and moving. 4 stars

Just to say I really appreciate it when people add a link to the title or just write out the words as well as show the attractive book cover. I can't read the cover on a phone or iPad and can't hover over it like I can on a computer, so I tend to just skip over those posts since I don't know what it's about.
I really enjoyed the first in the Kate Pearson series Red Ribbons will certainly be reading more by Louise Phillips
I just finished Fatal Remedies, a Brunetti mystery by Donna Leon and am starting the 2nd Maisie Dobbs mystery, Birds of a Feather by Jacqueline Winspear.

Finishing The Silent Dead by Tetsuya Honda. Fast-paced police procedural set in Tokyo. The main character, Lieutenant Reiko Himekawa, is young, female, single and promoted on merit, fairly atypical in Japanese institutions.

Didn't know there were books in English. I haven't read this series, only watched the TV drama (Japanese) and quite liked it. I'll add it to my to read list.

I just finished The Child, by Fiona Barton.
Fiona Barton
The Child is an excellently crafted amateur sleuth mystery novel with some very original twists and turns – I highly recommend it. Here's a link to my review.

I agree! I was very impressed with The Late Show. I think one of the aspects I like best about Connelly's writing is that he does a tremendous amount of research to give his novels a gritty, authentic feel.

that book put me off Mo Hayder forever. Gratuitous gruesomeness is not my idea of a good time.

I can understand that :P It's something you "enjoy" or you don't.
I have read gruesomer (is that a word?) books than this one... like The Girl Next Door. That one was awful, but also very good...
I just finishedThe Last Good Kiss (my review here) by James Crumley.
Truly a masterpiece of crime-noir.
Lie to Me by J.T. Ellison just blew me away! The must read psychological thriller of 2017. My review https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
