Sometimes an author hits you with just the right book at just the right time in just the right mood. John Sandford wrote HIDDEN PREY years ago, but it suited me now. That happens sometimes.
I'm reading Parting Shot.
I'm only a couple chapters in, but I love that the detective and investigator are back from the other Promise Falls novels! I'm interested in finding out if more characters will return.
Just finished ‘Love and War in the Apennines’... ‘Escaped P.O.W., Eric Newby, hides out from German soldiers and fascist sympathisers in the Apennine Mountains of Italy…’

I just finished Winter’s Mourning by Janice J. Ricahrdson. It's a cozy mystery set in a Canadian funeral home. It was great!

It's been a long time since i post here is what i read since thenAmerican Gods & Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman I am really loving his books I am so glad someone post about his books on the Horror Book group. His writing remind me alot of Stephen King.
Corrupted by Lisa Scottoline I am not really loving her newer books in this series like her older one IMO was best! Her new ones its like she not trying anymore
Heartless by Marissa Meyer I am so glad when my library got this book I loved it but i love Alice in Wonderland too! OFF WITH HIS HEAD!
On Borrowed Time by David Rosenfelt Another great author! I am really loving his writing
Night Watch by Iris Johansen & Roy Johansen Not really care for this one it was okay but they both have writing better books IMO
No Way Back & The Dark Tide by Andrew Gross You know I never knew he wrote books by himself I knew he wrote books with James Patterson so I though i would give him a shot and I am loving his writing. IMO I think his wirthing is better then James Patterson
L.A. Outlaws by T. Jefferson Parker Okay of book but I have read better books

about to begin:
CAT TELLING TALES
Just finished J is for Judgment, by Sue Grafton, while at the beach. As always, PI Kinsey Millhone gets the job done in style. I really enjoy the series.
I finished Magpie Murders
by Anthony HorowitzThis book is a double whodunit....two mysteries in one. One story is an homage to the style of Agatha Christie....murder in the manor house; the other story is a modern tale about an editor looking for the murderer of one of her writers. Very cleverly done. 4.5 stars

I just finished reading Red Rabbit by Tom Clancy. You can read my review at http://world-of-sleuths.blogspot.com/....I am still reading The Return of Sherlock Holmes by Arthur Conan Doyle.
Just finished reading HIDDEN PREY by John Sandford, from Putnam in 2004. Just hit the spot for me. Easy reading, solid plot, good dialog, enjoyable.
I'm currently reading 'The Killing Game' by J.S. CarolI only started it today and I am already half way through total page turner
I finished two books this week. We Have Always Lived in the Castle has been on my bookshelf for over a decade. Fortunately, this group will be reading and discussing it next month. It should be an interesting discussion. Here is my review.
The second book is The River of Kings, the latest book by Taylor Brown, the author of Fallen Land. Here is my review.
Sharon wrote: "Just finished reading HIDDEN PREY by John Sandford, from Putnam in 2004. Just hit the spot for me. Easy reading, solid plot, good dialog, enjoyable."I've read the first 18 books in this series and enjoyed them all. I think there was a TV movie with Mark Harmon.
I just finished The Girl In Kellers Way and it was absolutely fantastic, brilliant. Can't think of enough superlatives. It's hard to find really good thriller. This one was a ripper of a read. It reminded me a bit of Rebecca in a contemporary setting. Maybe because it's about a wife who is haunted by the memory of her predecessor who died tragically. I really loved it. The Girl in Kellers Way
I finished 99 Red Balloons
by Elisabeth CarpenterA schoolgirl is abducted from a sweet shop in England and her family despairs as the police try to find the child. In a different city, on the other side of the country, a woman still grieves the kidnapping of her granddaughter 30 years ago. Are the events connected somehow? Good psychological thriller. 3.5 stars

CHANDRA'S COSMOS by friend Wallace Tucker, a theoretical astrophysicist, is over my head, but the pictures are amazing and what I can understand of the text is marvelous. It's also frightening, if you're a person who believes in heaven, because we may be able to see it from here––that place where our spirits dwell when our bodies are gone. Whew! Not recommended for the faint-hearted.
Donna Tart's The Secret History. I guess it's a literary fiction take on a crime novel? I loved her writing.
I also read The Girl In Kellers Way and loved it! It was an excellent psychological thriller

I am going on a 6-7 week long hiking-trip (Camino Frances) by myself and my parents gave me this book as a present.
Last part of the Sookie Stackhouse-series! Also known as True Blood :)

I just finished Mind's EyeI gave it 4*. I read it based on the recommendation of a Swedish man that I met on a cruise last year.

I've long been a fan of Dana Stabenow's Kate Shugak series. #21 Less than a Treason
wasn't stellar, but it's still Shugak. https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

Liza wrote: "Donna Tart's The Secret History. I guess it's a literary fiction take on a crime novel? I loved her writing." I loved The Girl In Kellers Way too. Every bit as good as Gone Girl and The Girl on the Train The Girl in Kellers Way
Just started All the Light We Can Not See. Has great reviews. Only in the first chapter so too early to say...
I finished Every Last Lie
by Mary KubicaWhen Nick Solberg is killed in a car crash, his wife Clara doesn't believe it was an accident - and sets out to prove it was murder. Meanwhile, Clara learns that Nick was keeping a LOT of secrets from her. Pretty good thriller but the characters don't quite ring true. 3 stars

I just finished The Man Without a Shadow
by Joyce Carol OatesIt's terrible! Don't read it! A woman becomes obsessed with a mental patient under her care and starts an unethical relationship with him that could be qualified as rape. She devotes her whole life to torturing him in the name of science and claiming that she loves him when she refers to him as the amnesiac subject always except when addressing him. Very repetitive and everyone talks about themselves in the third person and by full name for the whole story. totally disgusted by this book that makes a mockery of smart women and mental health and it's studies.
