No no no! Just because I didn't care for it doesn't mean you won't like it. I just happen to like my crime a bit more on the edgy side.

Finished Cop land by Karin Slaughter 4★ now I'm reading The Missing husband by Amanda Brooke and I must admit I didn't really fancy it but I'm enjoying it
I finished Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, Parts 1 & 2
by Jack Thorne (from a story idea by J.K. Rowling)This 8th book in the series is a play that takes place 19 years after the last book. Harry and Ginny's son 'Albus' buddies up with Draco's son 'Scorpius' to go back in time and try to save Cedric Diggory's life. Of course, diddling with the past has unforeseen consequences. Pretty good play but it lacks Rowling's touch. 3.5 stars

It looks fantastic on stage Barbara. I saw it at Easter. It was lovely to spend time with Harry again.

Well firstly I have to get a few statements out !!
After one book Ben Coes has gone to my list of favourite authors...
This is the largest book I have ever read in number of pages at 640 pages...
This is one of the best books ever read, and an epic story...
This book is full of fantastic full detailed characters, good and bad...
The start of the Dewey Andreas books, but many more great personalities that deserve great credit in this book...
Introducing a major new thriller writer--in the vein of Vince Flynn, Brad Thor, Lee Childs, Tom Wood, Mark Dawson --and an electrifying character, Dewey Andreas...
Full of military antics, espionage, and a believable storyline that keeps the reader turning pages well into the night....
Power Down was one of the most amazing books I have read in a long time. I absolutely LOVE how Ben Coes tells a story, builds the characters, teases you with great chapters and sub plots.
This book is full of page turning action, suspense and gripping story.
A major North American hydroelectric dam is blown up and the largest off-shore oil field in this hemisphere is destroyed in a brutal, coordinated terrorist attack. But there was one factor that the terrorists didn't take into account when they struck the Capitana platform off the coast of Colombia--slaughtering much of the crew and blowing up the platform--and that was the Capitana crew chief Dewey Andreas. Dewey, former Army Ranger and Delta, survives the attack, rescuing as many of his men as possible. But the battle has just begun.
While the intelligence and law enforcement agencies scramble to untangle these events and find the people responsible, the mysterious figure of Alexander Fortuna--an agent embedded into the highest levels of American society and business--sets into play the second stage of these long-planned attacks. The only fly in the ointment is Dewey Andreas--who is using all his long-dormant skills to fight his way off the platform, then out of Colombia and back to the U.S., following the trail of terrorists and operatives sent to stop him.
Power Down is a gripping, compelling debut thriller from Ben Coes, a powerful new author, an amazing talent certain to join the ranks of the genre's finest writers!!
Loved this book, five stars, now waiting on my kindle, book number two in the series..

I've been reading mysteries/crime novels for a while but I only recently came upon James Lee Burke. Wow! I finished Purple Cane Road and am enjoying Pegasus Descending even more. I live on the Gulf Coast and really appreciate Burke's descriptions of the geography, the people and the language. My only complaint is that sometimes the descriptions are almost TOO rich, but I forgive him because he's such a good writer. So much great writing out there these days. I'm grateful anyone has the time to read my stuff! These books are in Dennis Lehane-quality territory, and that's high praise from me. Highly recommended.
Just finished a NetGalley cozy, which has its share of less-than-cozy moments. 4 stars for The Cupcake Caper
https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
I read a paranormal mystery, with a detective that talks to dead people, mostly murder victims. The Scientology Murders: A Dead Detective NovelMy review, 4/5 https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
I finished A Separation
by Katie Kitamura. An unnamed narrator is separated from her husband but his parents don't know. Thus, when hubby goes 'missing' during a trip to Greece, his mom insists the narrator go look for him....and she goes. This is a literary novel, not a thriller (just so you know). Pretty good book. 3 stars.

Turns out two little girls have gone missing from the area, and Ruth helps the cops investigate the cases. Good story with interesting archaeological tidbits. 3 stars.
