Joya’s Treading Trodden Reading T(r)a(i)les
oookay I dont remember where I left off here...let see...
Finished The Book of Life, liked it more than the previous (two) times that I read it. Oh the feeeelssss once I finished reading it... That book always leaves me wanting more, missing the characters, wanting to know what they are doing now...
Also finished My Man Jeeves, listened to the audio and read it in parts...Can't say i like the narrator much with his rolling the Rs in every second sentence...it had began to grate my ears and nerves both. My immediate reaction to it was disappointing to say the least.
My current reading list has a mind of it's own or so i seems... finished two since last night. Picked up the audio of High-Rise... the blurb doesn't say much, the narrative is not really what I usually prefer in my books but I'l give this a try and its a relatively short book.
Pendergast continues to amaze me with the things he knows...around 60% done with Reliquary
Gorab wrote: "Going strong. All the difficult books!"arey not difficult at all..Pretty easy ones tbh
IncRead wrote: "saw that you didn't like book 2 of Pendergast as much."
Three is good in my books. If not stellar but definitely good and definitely recommended
Finished Spotless :D whoop-de-whoop!!!
&
High-Rise ahemm...did-we-read-the-same-book? Quite disappointed because I really was hoping much greater things form the book. Le Sigh... did not happen.
Also Finished
Beating Ruby this explains the feels.
Currently actively reading

pehle mai bahut dukhi thakuch bhi book padhne ja raha tha to SLUMP ka sikar ho jata tha
Mujhe lagne laga tha ki main ab aur koi kitab padh nahi paunga
mera halat aisa ho gaya tha ki logone mere ko anpadh anpadh kehe ke bula ne lage the
tabhi mere ek dost ne mere ko Norse mythology audio book ke bare main bataya
ap yakin nahi mano ge ye kitab padh ne ke bad 10 din main mai Gaiman ki aur 4 kitab padh chuka hun
Ap bhi suniye Norse mythology Audio book .slump se bahar nikal ne sabse badhia aur saral upay -norse mythology audio book by neil gaiman :P:P
hehee thanks. I have both the ebook and the audio version. but i like him in small doses, too soon after american gods... will be haanikarak for my health
THIS IS RAMDEV BABA CERTIFIED BOOK .no hanikarak agents at all .all stories are lite reads ,fast paced and very funny with Gaiman narration .you can pause after any story as each short story is 20.95467 - 22.3765 mins at max . and it is very diff from American God .I will change my name to Leonardo DiCaprio if you are not out of slump after reading these :Pbut seriously take your time and get well soon :P
Thanks but il refrain from baba's totkaas... Am doing well but just a low in reading after rushing through 62 odd books... Thank you though :)
Rebecca wrote: "You finished 62 books!!! Take the slump as a well deserved break then..:P"yes had/having a mild burn-out from books.... :D
Could not finish A Lady in the Smoke: A Victorian Mystery, it was mind numbingly boring, dry with facts (?) about railway accidents during nineteenth century England. i couldnt care less for the mystery to be solved nor for any of the characters. Left off at 55%Finished:
The Pedant in the Kitchen: my humble 1.65 stars
&
Snapshot: I-am-in-awe-and then-some-more 4 stars (because it was too short)
finished Guns, Germs and Steel: A Short History of Everybody for the Last 13,000 Years, the extent of research that went into just one book, is quite mind boggling. A 4 starred read for sure...My quick take
Done with Unnatural Death, was hankering for a cozy mystery that have not read before, thought of trying this book. Can't say am much impressed. It was just an okay read with a mildly annoying protagonist. Will try a few more of her books though, maybe those would be better...Just about 2.5 stars from me.
Currently reading:The Historian at page 61
Don't Get Caught-5% a light read (i think, going well as of now)
The Discoverers: A History of Man's Search to Know His World and Himself: just started, BR with Arvind...
City of Thieves: long-time pending read...started with the audio as of now, might switch between reading and listening
The Discoverers looks very interesting. Will look out for updates by both of you for this. And plz share if you're discussing it somewhere.
Gorab wrote: "The Discoverers looks very interesting. Will look out for updates by both of you for this. And plz share if you're discussing it somewhere."Thanks Gorab, we'l be discussing in an old thread on IR, cozy reads, (general) with the title Silk Roads.
You are most welcome to drop-in :))
finishedThe Shattered Gates: three stars
মিশর রহস্য: three again. my first kakababu story...not as good as feluda tbh...but am biased. Can't say much about the translation job, will try a few more stories...
Picked up the audio of Masques: it was pretty decent, three stars. listening to the audio of it sequel which will get not more than 2 stars...
Also finished Ms. Marvel, Vol. 1: No Normal: absolute 5 starred read!
Wolfsbane: 1.25 stars. Okay that was pretty trying read/audio. what a snoozefest. I actually do have a headache
Currently reading:The Historian @ 25%
The Discoverers: A History of Man's Search to Know His World and Himself: 8%, the kind of west-centric book which i usually dont like
Don't Get Caught: 6%, so far so good...
I need some CHEER-ME-UP read
i haven't been able to concentrate on "reading" books lately. So started the audio of The Red Necklace, a historical fantasy based during the French Revolution, the book has a lot of scope of being amazing...lets see. Am at about 35%Also finished শেয়াল দেবতা রহস্য, a short audio. 4 stars.
As if one scary epistolary book wasn't enough, I had to go ahead and start reading another one on similar lines, my MOST ANTICIPATED BOOK OF THIS YEAR- House of Leaves... off with an auspicious start... *fingers crossed*

(provided i want to part with it ;))
Finished a few more in the past few days...a bit underwhelming in terms of being bowled over by most of themThe World's Best Spicy Food: Where to Find it & How to Make it 3 stars
সমাদ্দারের চাবি: this i liked a lot. 4 stars
হ য ব র ল: 3.5 stars
The Red Necklace: 3 stars
Don't Point that Thing at Me 3 again. The book is nothing like the movie (which was more of a slapstick), more dark almost noir-ish in its tone. and a bit more sophisticated in terms of quality.
The Little Teashop of Broken Hearts: 3 once more
A Caribbean Mystery: must be a third or fourth time re-read...4 stars for the sole reason that the rest of the book read with these were just mediocre
ohh and there were some 3-4 odd dumped books in between these
Excellent week J. With all these books having a minimum of 3!
I've been putting Feluda on and off my radar. But with your 4, think I should at least taste a bit of it.

:)thanks Gorab... i wouldn't call it excellent in terms of quality but thats alright i think
Do give Feluda a try, some of the stories might seem lame for grown ups i understand and the translations aren' t always good in terms of capturing the right tone, still the stories are worth a read!
