Jaya | 5078 comments This looks like my season for long reads, books which go on and on and on, yet I find myself having barely scratched the surface. So have been sneaking in shots, i mean short stories in between.
Currently the status chart may look like this...
American Gods, at page 145
Evenfall: 5-6% (of about 1400+ pages)
LoLL: no progress

Jaya | 5078 comments Getting my rhythm back, albeit slowly and erratically
Done with about 250 pages of American Gods, theres no figuring out that one. Neither i am going to. Just enjoying the strangeness. Writing is excellent though imo. It reminds me why i used to like this guy at one point of time.
Ye faith restored. Almost.

20% of Evenfall, the book has picked up some momentum now, hoping that it gets even better.

And now I feel like picking up some archaelogy based thriller/mystery...

Jaya | 5078 comments Started Relic yesterday evening, about to finish it in sometime.
Americam Gods: 265 pages

message 113: by Jaya (new)

Jaya | 5078 comments Finished the Relic, super fun ride
a 4 out of 5 stars read. Definitely going to read the sequels, the epilogue has already hinted at what disaster to expect...

oh & am loving it!

message 126: by Jaya (new)

Jaya | 5078 comments I am trying to dredge up some interest for that one tbh... Other stuff taking up my attention :P

message 127: by Jaya (new)

Jaya | 5078 comments Starting Guns, Germs and Steel: A Short History of Everybody for the Last 13,000 Years with a lot of trepidation. Mainly because I haven't have had much success with a lot of the "critically accalaimed" books. I either abandon them or end up disliking them. So hoping that this one doesnt fall in any of those slotted categories. *Fingers crossed*
And the idea is to take my time and not rush through the text. So this is probably more than a few month long reading project. Also planning to be more organised in my notes and comments for...ah future reference. I don't know I haven't been keeping or taking notes as per my usual practice and I end up forgetting about a lot info in the long run...

Apart from this restarting Magic Strikes, because my good friend M says, that its more than a 3starred book and i believe her :)

message 128: by Jaya (new)

Jaya | 5078 comments Finished magic strikes now on with Magic Bleeds :))

message 129: by Jaya (new)

Jaya | 5078 comments And finished Magic Bleeds, as well!
Liked this more than its predecessor. And sorely tempted to ditch whatever else I am reading and continue with the series...

message 134: by Jaya (last edited Jan 24, 2017 07:46AM) (new)

Jaya | 5078 comments In the past few days, finished quite a few short reads and a tome. The latter unfortunately was a sheer waste of my time and deserves no review or reaction :-/
Started Beau Crusoe, at about30%, has a very unsual set of protags and plot in a regency set up, expecting it to remain the same.
300+ pages down with American Gods
And 25% of The Lies of Locke Lamora
At pg 52/489 of Guns, Germs, and Steel: The Fates of Human Societies

Haven't pondered over it and never considered books as per weather pattern. Will be more observant now that its mentioned....

Does it affect you?

message 145: by Jaya (new)

Jaya | 5078 comments It happened with me just a while back, the weather has taken a turn and it reminded me of a particular book, started flipping through the pages and ended up reading about 60% of it...
Something iv done before, now that i realise, but it was always an unconcious act I think.

Aparna | 279 comments Jaya wrote: "Does change in weather patterns affects/gets reflected in one's reading pattern/choice of reads as well?"

For me sometimes its does...not directly but if the weather is gloomy , it affects the mood and likewise the choice of the book too....especially I noticed it here due to harsh winters and frequent change in weather .
