Joya’s Treading Trodden Reading T(r)a(i)les
Absolutely right about happy endings and romances, no argument there :DI think i like a nice, action packed mystery or thriller on such days. But it might not be always be my choice of preference though... Even some dark fantasy also works...
The reading stats looks somethng like...American Gods around 312 pages (not much progress)
The Lies of Locke Lamora 25%
Bloodlands: Europe Between Hitler and Stalin: no progress, shelved off for the time being
Gardens of the Moon 22%, extremely fast paced, thoroughly intriguing
Guns, Germs, and Steel: The Fates of Human Societies: 81/480
Finished Beau Crusoe, 3.5 out of 5
And the audio of ছিন্নমস্তার অভিশাপ(The Curse of the Goddess) 5 out of 5 stars. I don't know how or why iv missed this story. Or maybe I dont recall much of it. Loved it though...
gloomy days always a Dark psycho thriller for me.
And good to see that you are indulging in literary polygamy, J :)

Finished হত্যাপুরী (The House Of Death)
গ্যাংটকে গণ্ডগোল (Trouble in Gangtok) and a few more in the past few days...
American Gods, is coming to an end, almost to the climax...
Marking Time at 50%, a paranormal fantasy about time travelling... no brainer but good fun.
Guns, Germs, and Steel: The Fates of Human Societies: 168/480
Heeeheee thanks ManjuTheres a different kind of happiness when you finish and end up more than liking a previously ditched book

Am glad that you liked American Gods. It's a different kind of a book, which takes time but ultimately delivers a lot more than most books of its kind, including those others written by the same author. Guess that's why despite reading a lot more of Gaiman, I fall back on American Gods as my favourite one. :)
Yes its one of its kind and it totally fit my wierd mood at that timeThankfully this time Gaimam didnt disappoint :))
Done and dusted with a few more...short ones, big ones, audio ones...I am apparently on a 'woman-killing-men' reading spree.
After Susanna's Seven Husbands, which was extremely short and not at all satisfactory, picked up The Bride Wore Black, a noir, about a woman avenging her fiancé's murderes. Purely coincidental, I tell you...
I actually loved Susannaa. Better than the other Bonds I've read so far. Did you read the screenplay. ?
Rebecca wrote: "I actually loved Susannaa. Better than the other Bonds I've read so far. Did you read the screenplay. ?"No, just the short story. id loved the movie though, this was nothing like the movie, which was pretty dark and morbid.

Yes I thought so too after glancing at the screenplay. Thev story was more like a bedtime one.

And the movie is slightly nightmare inducing. Not recommended!
Em wrote: "I guess I will enjoy the movie better (saat khoon maaf)"i very much doubt that Syl, some parts are not your kind of "dark" either

Almost a wasted day in terms of reading... finished Legacy: A Search for the Origins of Civilization a 3 starred read. Review/Reaction here
It was good but was familiar with most of the info. Did watch the tv adaptation to it before reading the book. WOOD WAS CLIMBING A PYRAMID !!! in the episode on Egypt /|\(◦,◦)/|\
That was a bit of useless info...
Kohinoor too!
Awesome. Haven't read anything by Dalrymple and would like to give it a try (like a zillion others to be tried!)

will surely keep you posted
No active reading since the last 48 hours... only listening to audiobooks as and when I am able to get sometime...Finished the audio of Murder in Mesopotamia and
this is what i thought once I finished it.
Finished Murder on the Orient Express, last night. Its always a treat to consume this story in some form or the other but this time perhaps I was a little impatient for the audiobook to be over sooner.Anyway with that, the book count reaches 50 for this year...
Not getting sufficient time to read with the shifting of my office location, which is now 25 kms (one way) away from my dwelling place. So my reading time has all gone down the drain. Will take sometime to adjust and make time to read.
Only reading The Book of Life,
at 45%, a br with Sri, actively. Rest all on hold for the time being
50 books ? not getting sufficient time ? #$%^&*&*^&%$$%%&$$$^#%#%%#%#$@##$^#%%%&$^&$$$^$%#$$#^$#%#%$&^%&^&^*(^&^^%%$%$$#^$##$^#$#$%$$%$%^#^$#$^#^$#%#^%%$%&$^&%%%^%^%^%$%$%$%#%###%#%#$#$@$#@@$$^#%$&%$%$%$$%#$#$@@$%^%^**(*()((&&%$$#@**
* I am sure through hard work ,determination and persistence , I would be able to make a connection between those two statements , someday :P *
hahaha you guys 乂⍲‿⍲乂
Thank you, all.
But I am more for quality over quantity and will be honest that many of the reads have short stories, graphic novels, audiobooks or previously read ones
@ Gorab & Tarinee: insufficient time is actually a recent development... since Monday infact. So hoping to manage my time better to continue my momentum *fingers crossed*
Started My Man Jeeves, last night. I'd read a few stories from the Wodehouse omnibus, borrowed from a friend during my school days but I barely recall any of the stories (thankfully) so going to give these a go...Also started Reliquary, hoping it to be as good as its predecessor. Thats all i can manage for the time being...
Shelved-off a few from my current reading list, not in much of a mood to read fantasies for the time being.
