This was a great starting point! Yelana and Valic are such great characters! Although I found Yelana a little too 'trusting' of people. I'm looking forward to continuing this series. Another why did I wait so long book.....

Title/Author: Wicked Abyss by Kresley Cole
Series: Immortals After Dark #18
Date Read: 5/2/2017
Shelf: Kickass Heroine

Rating: ★★★★☆
Review: Another fun read in the crazy paranormal world of the IAD. We did get a little cra cra from Nix in the beginning, then it jumped from fey lands, to Disney then most of the story takes place in a hell dimension. This follows a reincarnated fey princess Lila and her demon mate Sian, king of hell. He has been waiting 10k years for her return to get his vengeance. Lots of humor and smexy scenes as expected... The good, liked the characters and the getting to know each other phase. Bad - Unfortunately the characters seemed new, or lesser known from previous books. This is one of those must read series for me, so I'll just keep on reading...

Review: I'm not sure what to think of the book since there's a different view from the two males in Juliette knows can touch her without any effects. Aaron seems obsessed with her but Kent is in love with her. If I were Juliette I would be a bit confussed to as to what is going on too. This wasn't a bad start to this series. I'll continue to see what will happen next.
Not my favorite genre... so my short list
I will not even attempt the Parasol Protectorate this go around...

Love this the series! The characters are great - I really want to see more of Sophia! The early repeative nature of the bold occasionally pops up but the story flows and weaves and theirs always plenty of action

Review: Love love love this series! Without giving away too much spoilery.... Jane is in all her enforcer glory in this episode and definitely earns her role due to ole sneaky Leo and his vampire politics and manipulation. We've been waiting and waiting on the Euro vamps to arrive and to make their move, apparently they've been working their vampy machinations for a while. Jane also has lots of "family" now, so her world has changed from her loner vamp executor days. And Bruiser, *sigh*. This will continue to be on my list of "must read as soon as released" series...
Last update we are 2 shelves from Bingo. Need 'shifter' and 'series to start' called... bad news, team 8 is also needing the same two shelves, so it might be a read off.... luckily they are a few shelves behind too. I should wrap up my steampunk book by tomorrow.
I think if we all finish our current outstanding books we could call bingo because we need steampunk and we have a bingo waiting. Look at the the first page and see if I'm correct. I might be seeing things. lol

I wasn't sure what was going to happen in the 2nd book in this series but holy cow there was a lot in this book to wrap your head around. Once I got started with reading this I couldn't really stop. Caelena & Cahol have got to find their way back to each other. & all of the other revelations that seemed to be packed into the pages. I definitely will be picking up book #3 soon.

Series: The Lunar Chronicles #1
Date Read: 5/17/2017
Shelf: Steampunk
Pages: 390
Rating: ★★★★☆
Review: This is the first book in the Lunar Chronicles young adult dystopian series that follows a cyborg mechanic, Cinder as her story roughly follows the Cinderella fairy tale. Because of her mechanical parts, her stepmother dislikes her and when her step sister falls ill, volunteers Cinder for plague research which is basically a death sentence. Of course her path crosses that of the young prince Kai and his attraction for her. Throw in an evil Lunar queen and several other support characters and androids and it's a pretty good little story. The good: nice twist on an old fairy tale. The bad: somewhat predictable and felt that there was a bit of a cliff hanger at the end. Will definitely continue with the series.

Title/Author: Red Wolf by Jennifer Ashley
Series: Shifters Unbound #10
Date Read: 5/23/2017
Shelf: Shifter
Pages: 336
Rating: ★★★1/2☆
Review: This follows two of Kendrick's trackers that just happen to be already mate claimed, more or less. The two un-collared trackers, Jaycee a leopard shifter and Dimitri, a rare red wolf shifter are sent back to New Orleans to go undercover for Dylan Morrissey, kind of. Throw in a magical house and it was a good read. The good: it was kind of nice to have the meet, insta-love and courtship and attraction already beyond the start of this book. So it didn't feel repetitive, throw in a few characters and stir kind of plot. The bad: We have several shifter town storylines that cross and a few similar characters are weaved thru, but it takes a bit to remember which group is which and where did we meet the first and secondary characters. Still the underlying theme is getting the collars off most of the shifters before the evil fae come back to take them, or are all fae evil? That might be the new question... This was the tenth book in JA's shifter series and I have to admit I get kind of lost... But I just go with it and its always a good read for the most part.
Per last week's notes in the discussion thread, Team 5 needed Fae.And they are 4 shelves behind.
Might be over if they are caught up...

I wasn't sure what to expect from this author as she was first time read but I keep seeing this book pop up on various lists so I thought I give it a try. I really enjoyed the first half of the book but felt a little lost in the 2nd half. I'm sure it was me - long hours at work sometimes makes it hard to concentrate. I will read the next book just to see how this play out.

Title/Author: One Good Earl Deserves a Lover by Sarah MacLean
Series: The Rules of Scoundrels #2
Date Read: 4/29/2017
Shelf: Series Finished
Pages: 384
Rating: ★★★★☆
Review: This is the second book in SM's Scoundrel series and follows one of the youngest sister's Lady Philippa or Pippa as she prepares to marry. Pippa is not a normal early 1800's lady, her scientific mind and manner makes folks view her as "odd". The marriage arrangement is with a nice but simple man, but leaves Pippa with a lot of questions. Enter the scoundrel for this book, Cross. A fallen aristocrat who is one of London's notorious co-owners of The Angel, a popular gaming hell and partner of Pippa's new brother-in-law. Pippa's curiosity brings her to the casino and into Cross' path as she searches for answers to how couples work... and she is looking for a teacher to answer questions and experiment with before she weds. Of course you get a whole lot of chemistry, some family drama on the path to a HEA ending. The good: lots of fun side characters and side stories intertwined. The bad: a little predictable, but still good if you are in a historical romance kind of mood.
