I am, told the bf about them too and he's going to give them a try at some point too. :D

Gisela (chicadorlando) | 4022 comments You're in for a treat then, for me Book 1 and 2 are the weakest in the series. I actually rated book 1 three stars and almost didn't read book 2, but I always give a series a 2 book chance before I drop it. Glad I did, because the series gets better with each book.

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 20787 comments You grew up in Southern California in the sixties, Anita? Me, too! The Beach Boys graduated from my high school. I was a bit too young for that, but I remember, the year before I entered high school, they came back and played for the '69 prom. Everyone wanted tickets to it!

message 158: by Anita (new)

Anita (anitanodiva) | 607 comments I was young too, so much of what happens in this book was news to me. I have lived in Torrance my whole life and was the "little sidekick" for the Challengers band. Fun times.

ShoSho (shoshost) | 12263 comments I finished listening to The Lost Symbol (Robert Langdon, #3) by Dan Brown this morning. It was meh!

I'm reading Carry On by Rainbow Rowell and loving it, it thought I would be reading it for days as it is about 700 pages or but I can't stop. I've been reading almost non stop, already on page 500.

Lauren (laurenjberman) ShoSho wrote: "I finished listening to The Lost Symbol (Robert Langdon, #3) by Dan Brown this morning. It was meh!

It is definitely the weakest in the series. Also, I've realized the mystery element in Brown's books are formulaic. All of his villains are the same stereotype and it is rather easy to guess who they are.

The mystery was not a mystery at all, I had guessed everything from the beginning. And the last half an hour was really pointless. Plus Robert landgdon was really acting dumb in this one and was in denial for 99% of the book.

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 20787 comments I need to get back to both those series, Anita.

Carrie (icanhasbooks) @Gisela it is very imaginative, and wonderful, crazy and yeah I'm enjoying it. Little over half way, the whole time I have these beautiful animated images flashing in my head. This book would make a lovely Studio Gibli film.

ROFL Contemporary Crap LOL That's why I usually stay away from contemps. I read Wallbanger (Cocktail, #1) by Alice Clayton and loved it but was disappointed by Rusty Nailed (Cocktail, #2) by Alice Clayton so I didn't read anything else in that series. I'll have to try that one.

message 194: by Anita (new)

Anita (anitanodiva) | 607 comments The heroine of Nuts has two best friends and they headline the other two book in the series. These 20-30 somethings are all about the career and making sex/love lives fit their expectations the way they want it to. They find out life doesn't always work that way.
