This week! Go by now!

(Come on, everyone wants to join in, write your own paragraph/story/bit with no punctuation)
One day Eyes of March sale all daggers half off and I can’t wait to get my hands on a shiny beauty one that I’ve got plans for oh yes plans I can tell you of all the wonderful things this dagger will slice through its cutting edge sharp and flinty and ready to take the dive but we shall see if it does the best deed of all and cut the ties between best friends and brothers and liege lords and their vassals and the hearts out of me as I plunge it into the man who rises above all else because such a man cannot survive in this new Rome because this new Rome shall be mine and this I cannot share me and the new order cannot share under this old regime so down with the statues and down with his legacy and down with the honors and the accolades and down with his towering pride though I loved him and as he falls I shall fall too

Next month is NaNoWriMo, for which I participate in every year. This will be my 12th and I always win. This year I'm writing a gay shifter swat team novel. Hopefully it will be different enough to stand out in the sea of other works much like it.
Afflicted to the Core, Wielder World 3, has been a bit slow going, but it's almost ready for betas, so... that's good.
Anyway, happy writing and happy reading.

But, I do have some fruits for some mighty fine labors. I am going to have a stand-alone novelette, a Wielder World short story, and a Wielder World novel coming out. The novelette soonish, the other works will be done in order.
Then, it's going to be NaNoWriMo again and then I have to decide on which of my many brain-worlds I want to bring to life.
Hope the writing and reading and community is doing well!

Places Between Wielder World 2.5. It’s a short story from Bethany’s POV, with no gay love, so you’ve been warned. It’s availed on amazon or free in pdf from my website at https://natkennedy.com/wielderworld/
It's pretty short, about 18 pages. If you read it and feel like it, give it a review.
Now back to working on my other project. *rubs hands together*

Thanks, Alex. It's good to be back. I burned out on social media stuff. So, I worked on a few pieces and am back now. For a while. I see you've got a lot of books out now!

Yeah, I felt too much focus on SM and stuff that 'didn't really matter' so I took a break. I go through phases.
Must be exciting to inch your way towards something new... or not, depending of if you like editing more, or if you like writing first drafts more.

Yeah, I know this feeling. Sometimes a new story is just too much fun, but when I'm not feeling to creative editing is more steady work. So, yeah, there is that.
That's great, 12 manuscripts! Awesome! I've got that many ideas, but I haven't put that much effort into it. I've got about 6 rough drafts, but some are maybe not publishable, I'd written them long ago, so I'm moving forward right now.

I love that you've done so much. I'll try to follow in your footsteps.

You rock! Give yourself a happy dance. :)

In the Wielder World, a select few can Wield the Nerve of the World. Women Wielders do so freely, without any repercussions. For men, it's another story. They fight Taint and Corruption for the same power. It's a bit Dunesque in that fashion, but otherwise, nothing else like Dune. ;)

The Voice - paranormal romance
and
Places Between, which is fits into the Wielder World (right in between).
Enjoy!

To celebrate my return, books will be free starting tomorrow (10/30) on amazon.

So, anyone doing NaNoWriMo? Am I the last person on earth who still enjoys it? I have a pile of rough drafts from doing NaNo for the last 15 or so years. Why is polishing so hard?

I don't typically NaNo, but I'm planning to try to get back into writing this month, so maybe on an unofficial level I'll be participating.
Super jealous of your vacation, it sounds amazing! And since you crossed the international date line, you can consider yourself a time traveler! ;-p

Thanks!
I am a time traveler. I met myself in customs. I apparently was still waiting in line the next day.
I love traveling, but sometimes all the bits and brackets that you have to go through to get somewhere make it totally a drag. I like being in a place, not always getting to the place.
NaNo always gets me in a writing mood and mode. I can always do it, even if sometimes it's a drag at the end. This year I'm working on a superhero book in a series I hope to publish someday. Everything I write I want to let free into the world, but the spit and shine takes a year or more.

Which, now that that is over, I can return to editing my novel that I'm trying to get published. It was 'due' by last Summer. Why is editing so hard? Why am I never happy with my novels?
Anyway, it's going to happen, hopefully by January. Fingers crossed.
Happy writing to everybody and hope your projects are going smoother.

I always get refocused this time of year. It feels fresh, like I can start new and slough off the old baggage. Also, I always come up with resolutions.
One such resolution is to write 300 words a day, 4 days a week, to equal ~ 5000 a month. This isn't much at all. But I want to give myself a modest goal to write new stuff, even if it's not anything I'm going to do anything with. Right now I'm knee deep in editing and I don't want all of my life to just be editing.
Also, I plan on finishing the writing exercises for Steering the Craft. So, here are my latest exercises:
1) short sentences, max 7 words, 150 words long
Sir Lagomorph scrambled into the garden. All was silent. The carrot tops dipped in the breeze. Such a beautiful thing caught his breath. It held him in a blessed cradle. Five of his kits starved. The carrots were salvation in the ground. He hopped over the death wire. A wire that snagged and snapped necks. He’d seen their dirty duty. Silence still reigned. The dogs were drowsing. Lazy dogs slumbering deep. Lagomorph descended on the roots and dug. Forelegs flashed in speed. Dirt flew through the air. A growl destroyed the quiet. Lagomorph rose, ears perked up. One last dash at a carrot. It came from the soil. Root in his mouth, he hopped away.
2) 350 words, one sentence
The scent of antiseptic struggled to keep all cheerfulness at bay, but cheerful we were indeed, because the news was something we could rally for—she was going to live; that’s what the doctor’s said and who were we to refute someone so learned and honest, so we all arrived at the hospital and battled our way through the acrid odors that usually destroyed high hopes; and as we all entered my mother’s room, none of us really looked, really examined how still she was, how pale and small under the thin hospital blanket that only had me thinking: shouldn’t she have more, something thick and full of down like we had for her at home, my brain latching onto that one obvious malady versus the stillness of her form; but my brothers had stopped short as we entered the white hospital room, voices rose and all I could think about was that thin cotton blanket and then an incredulous cry of, “you were mistaken?” and “Rose Anne, this is Rose Anne!”; words so laced with agony and sorrow that the realization hit me and drove a spike of loss deep into my soul, for my mother was not going to live, the doctors had mistaken her with another mother, perhaps another Rose, and to us, she would be forever gone.

a protagonist (1) has a problem (2) and endeavors to solve it (3) but meets with difficulties (4) whereupon he learns something (5) which enables him to make another attempt (6) leading to a resolution (7)
So simple... I'm going to try a new short story with this method and see how it flies. Also, another plotting method that is simple that I plan to use more is:
Character Wants Something, Plot Gets in the Way.
Simple!
So, thanks for listening to me babble. Here, have a free book. Free today and tomorrow, though several other books are coming up free in the next week.

Afflicted to the Core: Wielder World book 3 launches on June 14th. Check out my awesome cover!

Reggie Wolfe religiously visits Kyle Landon—his student in Nerve detangling—at the Harpford Disentanglement Center, where the younger man has been incarcerated on trumped up charges. During one of Reggie’s visits, Kyle’s able to warn his teacher of an imminent unauthorized transfer by an unknown shadow agency. Reggie demands help from his sister at the Bureau of Wielder Services but is pressed to take the matter into his own hands when bureaucratic red-tape stymies her actions. Breaking into a secret medical installation, Reggie and August Whalen find Kyle and six other men hooked to IVs, unknown chemicals pumping into their systems.
The three are caught up in a quest to find an antidote for the drugs and discover who is behind the powerful anti-male Wielder organization. On this dangerous road, will they forever remain friends or give in to their growing attraction?
Afflicted to the Core is the steamy third novel of the Wielder World series—gay urban fantasy full of desire, desperation, and dedication born of trial and blood.
I've got it at 99c during pre-order and a few days after launch, then the price will go up. This is your chance to get it cheap!

So, this summer I have published a book and also finished the second draft of a Vampire book. For August I plan on working on another book to polish and start querying.
It was very exciting to published Afflicted to the Core, not only because, New Book Yay!, but also I was able to jump on new projects. I've had the rough draft of my vampire book for ages and while there is still so much work to do, it was lovely to go over it again and polish up plot holes.
How has everyone else's summer writing projects gone?

What are yours? (writing wise, but if you wanna talk non-writing, go for it.)
I'm upping my hours per week writing. Which is difficult with a full time job. After reading all of these 'successful authors do xyz' I've noticed most of them put at a minimum of 15 hours a week into writing. I'm trying to do 10.
I'm also planning on finishing two projects. One is almost finished already, and the other is in drafting shape. It takes me lots of time to finish a project, but hopefully with the more hours I'm dedicating, I can get two done.
Good luck to all and their goals!

I finished a novel! So exciting. It's a vampire/mage mm romance with biting and magic and steam, oh my!
But this last year in quarantine has been rough. I would have thought I would have used all my extra time to be productive, but I must say, I did get a lot of manga read and computer games played.
Life is what it is. My biggest news, other than my novel being finished (not published yet, but we're getting there) is that I picked up watercoloring. Did any of you pick up a covid hobby?

My new Vampire/Mage MM contemporary fantasy is out! Whoo Hoo!
A broken mage. A penitent vampire. Can they put aside the horrors of the past to save each other?
Plagued with erratic. volatile magic, Nicodemus Green focuses his entire life to stop an evil sorcerer who brainwashes or kills anyone in his path to domination. Ten years into this crusade, Nick stumbles upon his former Academy instructor in the Austrian Alps. The strict and pious Byron Domitius has cloistered himself in an isolated manor. Alone and starving, he hates the twisted, damned creature he has become.
A prophecy calls for Nick and Byron to bond by blood to finally bring an end to the sorcerer's hidden agenda. The two are forced to see beyond their shared past, and Nick finds himself desiring more from his old instructor than just his magic. But are these emotions real, or do they come from the heat of their bond?

This book is three years in the making. Kudos to everyone who gets 3 books out a year, or even one. I'm proud of my book baby. It had such a long gestation period.

Jack was a jumper, fit to be tied, who loved to swing the ladies about, and to lie lie lie. They’d a hoot and holler about old Jack and his tall tales, taller than his waggling tongue was long, singing songs of saccharine stings. The things he’d spin would make the ladies dizzy. They don’t much like such men, but they love him all the better when he says fancy things deep into their ears and makes them ever wetter.
Jack was a jumper. He’d jump over candlesticks and he’d jump over bonfires on the May Day celebration to sing to the lord and lady for fertility. He’d jump through hoops to unlatch the hooks them ladies tried to gouge into him when they ended up fat with babies and fat with need. He’d whisper in their ears and dash dandily down the deadend allies, only to disappear, because his life was all deadend.
Deadend Jack, they’d say. Can trust a jumper like that.
The ladies all laid hooks in Jack. The ladies all landed fat babies in his lap. The ladies bound his lies in promises of forever and eternity and bound him to the homes and bound him to his duty.
Jack jumps no more. All tied up.
