J. W. Garrett (jeannewallacegarrett) | 1166 comments Sara @700 No worries Sara. There are several on their way to Mr. Darcy's Library. You won't be along for long.

Debbie@ 696 Wow, you are moving right along there Debbie. You know I keep a notebook handy and write little notes or reminders of what I am reading... what jumped out at me or a problem and either page number or % progress when I am reading. Sometimes by the time I finish a book, I have forgotten something I had intended to comment on when it came tome to write the review. Hope that helps.

Sheila Majczan (sheilalmajczan) | 1301 comments I find that using the Kindle app on my PC to read a book allows me to copy and paste sections onto a separate document so I have notes for reviews. It also allows me to make permanent notes on the Kindle copy as to misspellings or awkward phrases, etc. I don't know if the author can read my notes but at least I have them on record and I get a sense of whether there are a lot of problems with editing or just a few.

92 For Pemberley: A Pride & Prejudice Novella

I happen to like both books. mr darcy dances had me cracking up and for pemberley had me in tears at the begining

Sheila Majczan (sheilalmajczan) | 1301 comments Yes, he was funny...hard to imagine but amusing.

Good work on progressing up to Bennet's bookroom lately.

message 710: by Debbie (new)

Debbie (dmbrown) | 734 comments Thanks, though I'm in awe of the number of books you and Sara have racked up. You're well ahead of your pace at this time last year, aren't you, Sheila?

message 711: by Sheila (new)

Sheila Majczan (sheilalmajczan) | 1301 comments I read 277 last year. So I would say I am about the same. I want to read Linda Wells Keeping Calm but wish she would finish it so I can count it as ....maybe 5 books. LOL

message 714: by J. W. (new)

J. W. Garrett (jeannewallacegarrett) | 1166 comments Well done Sheila. Those numbers keep piling up.

Sara | 328 comments For those interested, I decided to do a YTD tracker so I can officially post my list of JAFF. It's here https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/... if you want to check it out. It's still not finshed (up to date) yet but I hope to catch up tomorrow. As of now it's 1-200. Enjoy! I hope you find some good books to read on there.

I'm impressed with your dedication -- Just to look up all those books at once frightens me!

I know, But then I thought it would be nice to have it all in one place. Doing it has made me realize that Goodreads is not 100% accurate.

message 723: by Teresa (new)

Teresa | 313 comments I get so disheartened here reading about all the books you all have actually under your belt. I love reading and read as much as I can and I'm still no where near any of you here. I think I'll have to retire from life and just leave the family to themselves and just read read read. Yeh. Like that's going to happen!!

message 724: by J. W. (new)

J. W. Garrett (jeannewallacegarrett) | 1166 comments Remember Teresa, it is not a marathon... and not even a race... it is for the simple pleasure of reading. Every step is a forward step and when I was busy with life I didn't get to read like I wanted to. Just enjoy what is before you. We support each others progress... whatever it is. Enjoy...

message 725: by Mary (new)

Mary | 709 comments Teresa,we're all,if you will, touring the Lake District! While we all started out at the same time, some of us,(you and I),pleaded with the bus driver to stop and pull over,so enchanted were with with the passing scenery we felt we had to walk around and admire it personally!!!
Well teach the destination, enjoy the picnic when we get there,it may just be a little later than the rest!!!

message 726: by Debbie (last edited Jun 08, 2017 06:28AM) (new)

Debbie (dmbrown) | 734 comments As Jeanne said, it's not a race, though it's easy to get caught up in thinking of it like that when you see some of us with high numbers. Participating in life is better than sequestering yourself away from the world to read all the time. Some of us have more free time than others. Also, some have the ability to read very quickly, while others don't.

Everyone in this group shares a love of reading this particular genre, and it's fun to share and discuss. That's the purpose: to encourage each other. Period. No one is thought less of by the others for "not keeping up." Love you, Teresa! Your participation here is as valuable as anyone else's!

message 727: by Sara (last edited Jun 08, 2017 08:21AM) (new)

Sara | 328 comments Teresa, trust me it is not a race. I had given up pleasure reading after i completed my post-graduate degree because I was so sick of reading due to my work. After having my 2nd daughter, I found of love of pleasure reading again. So now, I read all the time on my phone's Kindle App. I read while stuck in traffic, while getting ready in the morning, after putting my girls to bed, on my lunch break, while waiting to be called for my case in court, (basically as much as I can when i can). However, it's not a race!! I only post so that others can find other books that they might enjoy reading. I started out not participating on GR or in this group because i was scared and intimidated. But I realized that it's much more enjoyable to read with friends who enjoy reading the same books. Just read what you can and do not be shy to share your opinions! I love hearing other thoughts on a book.

Just keep on reading when you can. It's all about YOUR love of reading, not ours! :)

Debbie (dmbrown) | 734 comments Yeah. What she said!

message 730: by Sheila (new)

Sheila Majczan (sheilalmajczan) | 1301 comments I have to say "ditto" to all who affirm that this is not a race...why on earth would anyone think that. Many have very busy lives: jobs, children, illnesses or loved ones who are ill. I never posted reviews until I retired and didn't even find this site until I retired. I just hope that in sharing and in reading what others have read I/they give us hints as to new and very good reads and also ones which might not be to our tastes.

message 731: by Teresa (new)

Teresa | 313 comments Thanks for the pep talk guys. Thing is I love reading. I'm in my mid fifties Sheila and life just doesn't seem to be slowing down at all. Somewhere along the way things went wrong. But sure everyone has problems. I'll keep going and fit in as many as I can this year. I really really want to complete my challenge. I've found some great books since I joined GR and this group keeps me going.

Back then I didn't have a Kindle so bought the stories in paperback so my budget didn't allow what I can buy now for my Kindle PLUS I use my subscription to Kindle Unlimited a lot so that increases the number I can buy and read. I have also been fortunate in that friends lend me e-books. When I had children still at home and when I was working I read very little. Just didn't have the time.

message 733: by Teresa (new)

Teresa | 313 comments I still have two living at home who are in their late twenties. I've been a carer for one for the past seven years but that's getting easier now. Books keep me sane!

message 734: by Debbie (new)

Debbie (dmbrown) | 734 comments Amazing you have time at all, Teresa. Until I was an empty nester, I was happy if I read about 2 books a year! Not sure how sane I was at that time!

Debbie (dmbrown) | 734 comments I've had a few days of leisure in a row, so I was able to get caught up on some of my reviews. Here are some new additions to my list:

Ah, love seeing the encouragement to each other here, gals. You all make this a very special place to come.

@Debbie glad you could share these with us. I'm adding More Sport... to the list. :)

message 737: by J. W. (new)

J. W. Garrett (jeannewallacegarrett) | 1166 comments Great list Debbie. I'm still considering More Sport. I read the first one and it was a really different side to Mr. Bennet. Sort of an in dept study of the man. It made me a bit more sympathetic to him and even less so for her. I didn't take away all his culpability toward his responsibilities [in my mind], but I did see him in a new light.

message 738: by Debbie (new)

Debbie (dmbrown) | 734 comments I liked it more than the first, as I said in my review. No romance, though, so it may not appeal to everyone.

message 739: by J. W. (new)

J. W. Garrett (jeannewallacegarrett) | 1166 comments Yeah, I suppose any book from Mr. Bennet's POV would be 'no romance' as he observes life rather than experiences it. There certainly was no romance with Mrs. Bennet. Since you liked it more than the first... I'll have to put it on my wish-list. Thanks :-)
