Sheila Majczan (sheilalmajczan) | 1301 comments Zoom, zoom...look at you climbing that mountain. Fantastic work. Is it lonely at the top? I doubt any of us will come within shouting distance...laughing with admiration.

I took this down as by exploring I found it is to be soon released by Gianna Thomas. I have it as a WIP from a friend. So as soon as it is released under Kindle Unlimited I will "borrow" it and review it. The link will be up at the time of release, I am sure.

Here is the GR link:

I had reviewed this from an ARC -- minor changes from the WIP at FFnet. Release in a few days -- KU I think

Sheila Majczan (sheilalmajczan) | 1301 comments Yes, I did find that on Amazon. It is only up for pre-order now. One correction I hope she made: in chapter 11 she brings up "the insult" at the Meryton Assembly but on fanfiction and in the ARC you shared with me there is no insult written into the script.

I didn't catch that! The final draft, chapter 11:

comment at the assembly about someone only being tolerable in looks. My impression was that you might have been speaking of me.” Darcy turned bright red in color. His embarrassment was great. I was overheard. Stupid man, stupid remark. And she heard you. He had thought the remark had been overlooked when he’d asked her to dance, but that was apparently not the case. Clearing his throat... twice, he said, “If such a comment was uttered by a foolish individual, the truth of it is that you are one of the most beautiful women I’ve ever known. And I am humbled that I’ve been able to become better acquainted with you.”

The beginning just says he noticed her fine eyes and danced with her. It's possible the Bingley/Darcy interchange happened, then Darcy noticed her and asked for the introduction -- but it's not stated that way.

message 512: by wosedwew (new)

wosedwew | 414 comments One of the changes I noticed was more development of the Wickham/Bennet relationship before Darcy entered Meryton.

So she corrected it. OK. I did leave a comment on fanfiction, when I went in to read it to see if it was different from the ARC version. I plan to "borrow" it from KU when it is available so will read and hope to perceive the changes.

200) In Essentials
201) All the Perverseness of Mischance I want to see this expanded into a novella

And I'm knocking on the door to Permberley's library!!

(ok some of these were short so it feels like a fraud!)

message 515: by J. W. (new)

J. W. Garrett (jeannewallacegarrett) | 1166 comments Excellent Sara, you will soon surpass your last year's reading challenge. You are well on your way to reaching your 2017 Reading Goal of 350 books. Don't worry about them being short. When you add their page numbers to the longer page number books... the total average is what counts. One long book, plus a short book, still equals two books. No worries.

Short stories -- but excellent!

Darcy and Elizabeth are visiting at Longbourn but intend to return SOON! (They never stay long at Longbourn) Meanwhile, Mrs. Reynolds will make you comfortable in the Library.

I always remind myself that I read one book this year which was 2000 pages and another one which was 1000, when I read a short one of 8 pages or such.

Congratulations on your continued place at the head of the pack. Hope you find many more to enjoy.

No shame involved -- 60 is a milestone!

Sheila Majczan (sheilalmajczan) | 1301 comments Yes, I know I am only here to cheer on and not to look down on. We all have responsibilities and duties and those of us who have retired have some spare time. But I am happy for your every step forward. I do think a person who reads is superior, after all.

J. W. Garrett (jeannewallacegarrett) | 1166 comments I suppose with a reading challenge of 350... she can't let the dust settle. Wow! I am impressed.

And Sheila, there's no dust on you either. Great numbers.

Sara | 328 comments Awe, than you ladies. I seriously just read now and don't ever turn on the TV. That and I read EVERYWHERE (traffic, waiting for court, grocery store, etc.). Oh and I mostly read JAFF and nothing else. I also quit facebook, mostly.

202) A Curious Misunderstanding, Part I & II: An Imaginative Re-telling of Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice 2.5 stars
203) Sufficient Encouragement: A Pride and Prejudice Variation 3 stars
204) Boots and Backpacks: Pride & Prejudice on the Appalachian Trail, Roughly 5 stars! LOVED IT!

Congratulations on your further progress. I just won a copy of Boots and Backpacks in paperback and am looking forward to re-reading it. It was one of my first modern variations of P&P. Anji recommended it to me along with The Muse: A Pride and Prejudice Variation. Have you read that one?

Do you have any other modern recommendations?

message 547: by Sheila (new)

Sheila Majczan (sheilalmajczan) | 1301 comments Have you read Cat Gardner's modern books? They are MA but it is well done, not those sleazy graphic ones. I have rated all her books with 5 stars in my reviews. There are some modern unpublished ones that I reviewed and they are also very good.

Try Lucky 13: Matchmaking and Misunderstandings or Denial of Conscience: A Modern Darcy & Elizabeth Adventure a very poignant one dated in the 40's A Moment Forever But even tho' the last one is excellent it is not really JAFF. But oh so good. Will make you cry.

message 548: by Teresa (new)

Teresa | 313 comments A Moment Forever isn't JAFF at all but it's a brilliant story.

message 549: by Sheila (new)

Sheila Majczan (sheilalmajczan) | 1301 comments Yes, totally.

message 550: by J. W. (new)

J. W. Garrett (jeannewallacegarrett) | 1166 comments Those numbers keep piling up Sara... I really liked the Muse.

I set up a JAFF-Modern category on my bookshelf. If you want to see what I have ... be my guest and check out my list. That way I don't have to list them. I have over 50 at this time. Enjoy.
