LaurLa, I drew my cards for 26 in lots of 10, 10, 6. I think you can do it anyway you wish as long as you draw 52 over time.

Now I just need to figure out how the alphabet works, the school term needs to end now as my brain is no longer functioning.

I think I'm going to select three at a time. For me, that's a big week, or a small month...

I'm the same, Kathryn, which is why I've only drawn 10 to start with. I'm tempted to do more! But I'm telling myself I have to read at least 5 first then I can draw the next 5 ;p
I've read 2 and about 1/3 of the way of 1 book so... soon!!! lol

I think I will increase mine too, just want to see how soon I can get through my first 5!

Oh, I like the idea of adding five more after I finish five!

What's your goal, Dominique? How many books are you going for?"
26, sorry I didn't answer sooner
I decided to count my book for this month's shelf, Giovanni's Room by James Baldwin for my free choice space. So I'm actually caught up for the time being (i.e., 1 out of 12).
I can already tell I'm going to regret this -- I couldn't help myself, and signed up for all 4 challenges we have going right now. If I start feeling too overwhelmed, I may decide not to keep going on all of them. But planning is almost as much fun as reading the books!

You could think of it as challenges having 3 phases - the planning, the reading, and the tracking. Planning might actually be my favorite of the three phases :)

You're absolutely right, Sue. And it's the tracking that I get tired of. I also require myself to wrote a GR review for every book I read, and I get tired of doing that and get behind on it, too.

At the beginning of every year I too require myself to write a review for each book I read, but then fail miserably in the attempt.

For the tracking of what you have read I have noticed it is easier to make a thread where you list all challenges and which books you want to read for them, I did that here (it is in another group so I'm not sure if you will be able to see the page). It takes time to set up a thread like that, but it makes things easier later on. When you read a book you go to your challenge thread and use ctrl + f to search the page to see for which challenge(s) you used the book.
Can't see your tracking thread, Lusie.
I personally use a worksheet though I also tried creating my own private group for my own use to track challenges but I find I like my worksheets better ;p

I also bookmarked them & save the links under a folder, 'challenges', in my favourites on explorer.
I'm using a separate group to monitor my OLD challenges that I am still working on. However, I prefer my Excel spreadsheet workbooks for my different groups and their challenges.

You are right, Marina. It does take a lot of time to set it up and keep track of everything.
The plan was not to sign up to too many things, but I signed up anyway for all challenges that crossed my path lol
I think a worksheet in Excel would work great, Tien and Bea.

Cecile wrote: "This year, I got a notebook with a page or three for every challenge, with books listed and a master list of books to read this year, (adding all the time), and a monthly tracking of books to read. I think that this will work for me."
Cecille, I do very much the same thing, but not on paper. I've used Excel spreadsheets before, but only for individual challenges with lots of options, not to combine all my challenges. What works for me is a text file for each challenge -- sort of like one page in a notebook -- but it's right on my computer, where I am when I'm searching for books.

My excel file is fairly big with about 10 tabs: separate worksheets per group and then if the challenge requires a specific formatting (like Scattershelves), it gets its own worksheet. Then I have 1 main worksheet with my list to-read for the month (useful with notes of library due dates) which I still play around with every day, if I could, lol -even it's only highlighting the ones I'm currently reading :p

Wow! that's intense! I just save links to all of my challenges and then once I've read a book I go through and check where it fits in. I try to plan based on books I already own on iBooks or my mum has on Kindle haha.
Although, I do check through nearly every day to see where I could change things up! My lists never look the same as when they start!
Melissa wrote: "Wow! that's intense! "
lol yea, I'm totally obsessed!
I don't anyone's completed list ever looks the same as the original plan ;p

Everybody is so ambitious. I'm starting with five cards and seeing where I go from here. ;) For each category I picked two possible books, one I own and one I would have to checkout from the library. I like to try and have a balance of the two in my current reads so I'll pick the book based on whatever else is in my TBR at the moment.
Red (Diamonds/Hearts)=A-L
7 of hearts (2012): One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest by Ken Kesey OR The Master and Margarita by Mikhail Bulgakov
Black (Spades/Clubs)=M-Z
Q of Spades (2016):
6 of Clubs (2016): The Moons of Jupiter by Alice Munro OR The Arrival by Shaun Tan
3 of Spades (2013): The Reader by Bernhard Schlink OR The Book of Disquiet by Fernando Pessoa
8 of Spades (2013):
Best of luck, Mickey! And remember, plans are always flexible, you're welcome to change your books anytime as long as they fit within the categories ;)
How's everybody going with this challenge? I'm starting my 5th book and it looks like a short & easy one so I'm looking forward to to my next draw :D
