Cool, I'll be reading the series next year :)

Nice!

In this the Famous Five are left at George's house with a terror of a housekeeper while George's mother is in hospital. They escape to Kirrin Island where they see secret light signals from a boat and a child screaming. What is going on?

Sophie Kinsella is my guilty pleasure. It's chicklit which I can read quickly, it's not too strenuous. I read it in the summer which is the perfect time to relax and take it easy. This book is about Lottie going off to a Greek island after getting hitched to a boyfriend from days gone by and her sister charging after her in a desperate attempt to stop the relationship being consummated.

Room is a difficult book to read. The subject matter is harrowing. It is told through the eyes of a young boy in a world which he thinks is normal. That's what makes it so tragic but also so special.

Continuing on my joyous journey through Alexander McCall Smith's books...Fatty O'Leary goes on the trip of a lifetime to Ireland from Arkansas to visit his roots. Is the grass greener on the other side?

The Pit and the Pendulum is a horror short story. It describes in detail what it is like to be tortured. It is only 19 pages but there is so much packed in there and the tension builds. It has intrigued me enough to read more by Edgar Allan Poe.

The third book in the trilogy by Stieg Larsson. I enjoy reading about Lisbeth Salander and Mikael Blomkvist. They're great characters. It's reading at a fast pace. It reminds me of reading The Da Vinci Code. It might be a bit complicated but the chapter ends and you want to read more. I'm not sure if I will read The Girl in the Spider's Web by David Lagercrantz which continues the series after Larsson's death. I have asked people who have read it, what they think and they say it is written in the same way and it is also exciting. Not sure though.

I had never seen the film so I went into this book blind. It's the story of Celie and it's difficult and harrowing to read at some points. What shone through for me was the light within the darkness. It also made me smile.

Chick-lit about trying to get pregnant.

The third book in His Dark Materials. This one was my least favourite of the three. It was a still a good story and finish to the trilogy. I just had a harder time reading it than the other two.

I went in believing all the hype. I thought the story was ok not great. The first part of the book I raced through, the second part let it down.

This series is the equivalent to the 44 Scotland Street series but this one is set in London. It follows the characters that live in the mansion block known as Corduroy Mansions. It was nice to get to know some new characters.

I didn't enjoy this sequel as much as Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. I loved the poem The Jabberwocky and it was nice to have another adventure with the characters.

This book was recommended to me by a librarian so I knew it was going to be something special. It's the story of William Stoner who grows up on a farm, is enchanted by English literature and becomes a teacher. What I found so powerful about this book was that it stayed with me after I'd finished it. The simple story of a man and what he all has to deal with in his life.

This is the story of a boy who is sent to America on a ship to start a new life because of a misdemeanour which has happened at home.

I struggled with this book. I read it over several months, dipping in every now and again because I was determined to finish it. It's just over 1000 pages and I had heard it had won awards. It also came highly recommended by Neil Gaiman and because I enjoy his books, I thought I would enjoy this. The story and the characters are interesting but it didn't have the wow factor for me.

This was the first book I'd read by Isabel Allende. It is the story of Eva Luna and all the colourful characters that she comes across in her difficult life.

I saw the film of this a few years ago and it left an impression on me. I wanted to read the book. Edward Bloom tells a lot of extraordinary stories about his life which his son doesn't believe.

This story is set in the Second World War and tells of La (Lavender) and the orchestra she starts in a small community.

This was my first Agatha Christie and I really enjoyed it. It certainly won't be my last. I later went to see the film which I also enjoyed.

I had never read this before and last year I read The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde by the same author. It whetted my appetite for more. When you read this book, you are fully immersed in the pirate world. The way they speak, the way they act, the ship, the island, the treasure. It's a great story.

I love the way John Green writes. It flows and it´s easy to read. Miles goes to boarding school and meets new people including Alaska who he starts to have a crush on.

I've been reading a lot of Enid Blyton this year as she was one of my childhood favourites. This is the first mystery in the Five Find-Outers series. The gang meet each other for the first time and investigate why Mr Hick's cottage went on fire.
