I'm starting to think getting back to roleplay is a bad idea, though.....

Hallie (inkyhallie) | 16412 comments Why is my mum repeating the exact same words I said to a dentist a year ago?

When I was interested in getting braces, and those parents of mine went, "No, no, not now!"

message 2517: by sara (new)

sara (hazysunsets) lol ur lucky if u don't need braces the pain due to every couple of months tightening making sure things don't get stuck in wires and then retainers after words to make sure your teeth doesn't get messed up yet again even though u went through between 12-24 months of annoyance

message 2518: by Hallie (new)

Hallie (inkyhallie) | 16412 comments Actually, I need them badly. My teeth look hideous according to everyone. So last year, a dentist came to school and managed to make me less scared about getting them, and even offered a deduction in price if I was from that school, but when I told my parents, they refused to let me have it then - when I was interested. Now I'm scared again and they want me to get it. My mum says, "She's not bothered about them. She never tells her dad blah blah blah." Excuse me, but why would I want to volunteer myself to have who knows how many teeth extracted, 1-2 years of torture and the aftermath? I wanted to get it then because that dentist managed to temporarily convince me, but now....

Lynx ~ 10/1 Never Forgotten | 5901 comments Sounds like what I had to deal with. I got them in my late teens, which kinda sucks but at least the teeth were straightened out before college. My jaw is small so they pulled four teeth in order to make room for them to straighten. As it is I probably need my wisdom teeth pulled because they don't really have room. So that's 8 teeth I just don't have room for.
To be honest as much as it sucks, it is worth it. It is unpleasant and painful but in the end it really helps boost your confidence. I went to two different orthodontists and had two different styles of brackets. Both orthodontists were great people. The visits were pleasant, it got me out of school for a day, and you get used to it. Plus using a retainer after isn't bad. It's weird when you need to wear it 24/7, but again - you get used to it. Then you can get away with using it only at night. I have a permanent retainer for my bottom teeth and that took way more getting used to, but now it doesn't bother me at all.

message 2521: by sara (new)

sara (hazysunsets) I only have till April then I'm done. How come u have to pay for your braces? I got them free because of the NHS pays it for you and everyone unless you want to buy Invisalign which is like £2-£3k lol by like the metal braces are free because it's funded by the national health services NHS (obviously uno Hallie) yeah it's worth it but I also had four teeth removed, and one of my back tooth was removed and I couldn't go to school for 4 days because my whole face swollen up and it kept bleeding again and again

Hallie (inkyhallie) | 16412 comments I'm going right back to sleep after this. Mum accidentally woke me up trying to kill some pests.

My brother had the same problem, too (I always say that it's my parents fault both of us have vampire teeth and my brother agrees xD). Once he missed the morning session of school because something broke and poked his mouth - I was around 6 so don't ask me the precise details. All I know is that my mum found his act really funny. And it seemed rather painful for him, so whether it's worth it or not, I still find it uncomfortable. Also, I don't like dentists. I've been to the dentist's office so many times when I was little, so even though they were friendly, I still didn't enjoy the visits one bit. The three advantages are I can get away without eating and speaking and people will stop pointing out how my teeth look. It's been 16 years; enough people have told me how they look, and I've explained what's wrong to at least thousand people. Besides, it seems like a waste to get rid of so many teeth that aren't hindering me.

The retainer part - since I'm an ardent follower of my brother, I'll just do what he did: wear it for a few weeks and then hide it below my messy pile of books ;P I'm just joking. He did do it, though.

I don't know, but I'm most likely getting Invisalign - that's what my cousin's wife said. And I think there is a fee for the extraction. That dentist I go to always charges a lot even though we're very familiar people (the whole family goes there and that guy's son was kind of friends with my brother back when they were in school) :/

Hallie (inkyhallie) | 16412 comments Yay for you! Some big events at school, so the most of my teachers won't be coming. What's the point in going if no teachers are around? So they let us not come. And same on Friday - half term, hence two weeks in Wales even though I hate it here..... Ugh the power goes out half the time and the roads were closed. I had to walk to my dad's house with two umbrellas because there was no transport. But it's calm now (I think. I just woke up again and I'd rather be glued to my phone than open the window or go outside and look). I'm really close to England, so the climate is almost the same.

It's like blah blah blah blah blah oh I know this word blah blah blah hey I know this too blah blah blah. Grandpa, are there any stations that bother to translate at least the Welsh news to English for um, people who don't know Welsh that well and live in Wales?

I'll just get back to reading about Kate Middleton on my phone then.

Dude that sounds like my husband. He was born with a cleft lip and pallette so from the time he was a baby he has had constant work done on his mouth. He absolutely hates the idea of anyone working on his teeth or going near his mouth now. He put up with it until he became an adult then he basically said "f*** you" and decided to rebel by letting his teeth go. He regrets that decision all the time...

Hallie (inkyhallie) | 16412 comments Oh gosh! She looks so tired. And no one bothers to tell me that the only person who understands my eating style is pregnant?

Lol my cousin's going to become a father xD xD

message 2538: by Hallie (new)

Hallie (inkyhallie) | 16412 comments Gosh that most have been so annoying! The first milk tooth that was supposed to come out simply refuses to come out even though my dad tried every single way he could think of to get it out. It shook a lot and hurt, so that's when I first went to the dentist. Then a cavity, and once a permanent tooth began to grow from beneath my milk tooth even though it showed no signs of shaking (I still remember how my mum freaked when I showed her that xD)

Lynx ~ 10/1 Never Forgotten | 5901 comments Ah, sounds awful. I lucked out because other than crowded teeth I had no real issues. I have one of those face shapes which is described as "anime" all the time because it tapers in so much because my jaw is kinda delicate and only needs room for my small set of teeth. I kid you not, my retainer looks like it belongs to a child. It looks freakin hilarious in the case they gave me for it (keeping in mind the case is average size). So yeah, the only real teeth issues I have involved simply not having room. Though I do have one or two wisdom teeth growing in at a slight angle. I really need to go in and get them looked at (and probably removed). I've been getting a lot of head/jaw aches ately and Im pretty sure they're the culprit.
My husband, though, he has had a nightmare with his teeth... since he was born without a pallette he had to have a man-made one. He has two holes in it because teeth started growing from it and he had to have them pulled. And the rest of his teeth had trouble growing in properly. Think he had braces for like 5 years or something. :/

message 2540: by Hallie (new)

Hallie (inkyhallie) | 16412 comments Teeth problems are kind of a family problem: everyone had it. Oh, you really need to get those wisdom teeth checked! They could be a big pain!

That sounds too harsh for one man :/

Hallie (inkyhallie) | 16412 comments I feel depressed and I don't know why......

Lynx ~ 10/1 Never Forgotten | 5901 comments Sad thing is he has dealt with waaayyy worse in his life. Severe bullying (hence his ptsd), a truly horrible family, never enough money, bipolar (and a doctor who didn't know what the bloody hell he was doing and just made it worse), and more. Like he was really not in a good place when I met him. Then I helped him become happy again. <3 ..and I fell for him and we got married. Lol. Totally had not expected that. But he worships the ground I walk on soo.. <3

He is a strong person, yeah. Though to be totally honest he was not a decent person for a good chunk of time. Part of that was related to a screw up in medication and being friends with the wrong sort of people, but yeah... he's a good person now.
