Katherine | 23 comments I really want Dorian to come out as the dark horse/underdog and so something amazing and defeat Erawan without her.

Katherine | 23 comments She can have Maeve

message 203: by Katherine (new)

Katherine | 23 comments I really want to read it again but I just know il get super depressed over Chaoleana - il never forgive and never forget how brutally and unnecessarily it ended

message 204: by Laura (new)

Laura | 71 comments I'm a Chaoleana shipper and I recently reread crown of midnight and whilst it was awesome seeing their romance unfold it was also so depressing watching it end. Although COM did end with a lot of hope they'd get back together but then Sarah did a 180 and put her with Rowan. Whilst I have gotten used to Rowan and Aelin together now and don't mind it I still preferred Chaoleana so it's bittersweet to reread the first couple of books again.

Soula | 38 comments Katherine, your post theory really saved my poor heart. I really like your view of how things will go down. Reading everyone else's theories of deaths really destroyed my poor little heart. I really like happy endings and the main characters are all precious to me. I don't want anyone to die, but I know that's not realistic. Although, based on ACOTAR series, you're absolutely right - Maas doesn't kill important characters, but rather expendable characters. I do think Gavriel will be done off with, but not any of Aelin's cadre. If you've read ACOWAR (view spoiler) I'm okay if Maas "kills" someone as long as they're not forever gone. I don't want my HEA destroyed...they're very important to me.

message 207: by Jillian (new)

Jillian (jillianm_reads) | 16 comments I was almost thinking Kingdom, since this book will really show how dedicated she is to Terrasen, and maybe even her struggle to gain her throne.

message 208: by Katherine (new)

Katherine | 23 comments do you guys think she will remain friends with dorian till the end ? or that she will try to take his kingdom? I mean to be empress or what not she needs to take Adarlan too and she has been hinting at him that shes top god around here so I'm curious to see what will go down after they defeat Erawan....

message 209: by Soula (new)

Soula | 38 comments I truly hope that she doesn't try to take Adarlan away from Dorian. It's just not something a true friend would do to the other. I think she will make sure that they secure a very strong alliance (past friendship) though. If Maas has Aelin take Adarlan from Dorian, it'd be kinda crappy in my opinion.

message 210: by Katherine (new)

Katherine | 23 comments Dorian is undoubtedly a big prize for anyone "using him". We still have not seen the full extent of his power and he and Aelin will always be a threat to each other.

I hope things will go smoothly but if everyone gets a happy ending then the book might as well be a paragraph. Defeating Maeve, killing erawan, Manon getting the wastes and both Aelin and Dorian being crowned would be amazing but its almost too good to be true.

I don't know I'm just trying to think of possible scenarios to be ready for the final showdown

That would normally be the case with anyone else (Dorian maybe) but Aelin is not someone easily satisfied. In EOS there were many hints about her becoming queen and the empress - I'm thinking maybe if/after she defeats Maeve she can also rule Doranelle with Rowan by her side who is also a prince but still theres just something missing

And I too have noticed what you said on the description of Tower of Dawn and am very curious to see what the hell the new twist is

message 212: by Katherine (last edited Aug 02, 2017 03:58AM) (new)

Katherine | 23 comments girl.... wait you just said some big things right now I need to think and process!

As of now Chaols father still holds Anielle and even though he wants his son to come back he might chose a darker path and side with Erawan in hopes of getting more power. We already know his dad is not the nicest guy so I think its highly possible. The same could happen with Ansel.

Shes been a bicthy wicth since the start and wants nothing more than to be leader her self. Manons grandmother already sided with Erawan, whats to say Ansel isn't on the same side?

I definitely think Elide will have a more crucial role to play, she cant just have witch blood and have it mean nothing. We know that the most important witch is manon according to the prophecy and the constant hint about her eyes being full gold like Erawans instead of just frecked with gold like the rest of them.

I don't know if Elide will grow nails or have some special power (to be honest I found that the witches magic is kind of pathetic whats the point of calling them witches if all they can do is just blow themselves up? no spells? no powers? wtf) but theres still a mystery there - a good one too

message 213: by Katherine (new)

Katherine | 23 comments No i dont think so Manon wasalready exposed to Erawans evil plans and ran away but i def think Ansel will.

message 214: by Dawn (new)

Dawn | 182 comments I predict Darrow will have something malicious is store for Lysandra-Aelin; possibly an assassination attempt. The guy is too crafty by half, and covets the Terrasan throne. Either that or he'll somehow figure out the deception and expose her.

I think Manon, Dorian, and company will be searching for the final key and battling Erawan's minions, while Rowan and his band of merry will be chasing Maeve. Meanwhile, Aelin will be subjected too all manner of torture at Caine's hands, much to the Queen Bitch's delight. I'm sorry. I love Maeve. She's such a great villain, much like Arobynn was.

It wouldn't surprise me if Hollin and the Adarlan Queen were collared, in which case if Dorian were to die there would be no one to rule Adarlan. It's my opinion that it'd be wonderful to see territorial lines shift or disappear. In this case, Aelin (supposing she survives) or Rowan absorb Adarlan with Terrasan. Honestly, it would serve the Adarlanian bigots right. Racism is NOT cool. It also kind of makes sense given Chaol is already the Ambassador for Terrasan to the Southern Continent. Foreshadowing? Perhaps.

For all we know, Manon may be carrying Dorian's child. Now wouldn't that be a twist?! It'd be one powerful kid.

I suspect battles will occur with Dorian and co and Aelin and co simultaneously on different continents.. Somehow (I don't yet have any definitive theories on this yet, there are too many possibilities) Erawan is banished/killed, then they all meet up again to finish off his armies. I still maintain the idea that Maeve is a goddess on Erilea, which is why she's so long lived.

As someone has said before, it's interesting to note that only Brannon's line has the so called bastard mark, yet Lorcan does not. Initially I considered it was because he's demi-fae, but that theory doesn't hold true, because Aelin is also demi-fae. Therefore, I think there's more to the mark than we've thus far been lead to believe. More than the 'Nameless is my price' thing too.

Also, damnit, maybe/hopefully we'll finally learn who the hell the King of Adarlan was! His identity has been kept secret for a reason.

I know there's much more, but my memory fails me.

message 215: by Katherine (new)

Katherine | 23 comments Yes I for one really look forward to see what Elides power will be

message 216: by Katherine (new)

Katherine | 23 comments since the fae can sure body injuries why cant they cure Elide and Chaol?

message 217: by Katherine (new)

Katherine | 23 comments yeah... I think its just a whole in the story.

They can heal her arm after being almost ripped apart and reset and create bones but they cant fix her ankle?

Same for chaol

message 218: by Emma (new)

Emma (emmadixon11) | 23 comments I think that they will definitely fix Elides ankle. I feel that Manon will do anything to help her, as will Lorcan and Aelin (when she is back. SHE WILL COME BACK!!!) I'm pretty certain that between the three of them, they will do something about that because all of these three feel so sorry for her, and also want to care for as much as possible.

message 219: by Katherine (new)

Katherine | 23 comments no but the point is, why bother sending Chaol to a different continent country whatever when one of the fae could have heeled him then and there?

Same with Elide why not just heal her ankle when they healed her arm?

message 220: by Nathalie (new)

Nathalie | 11 comments But maybe it is too comlex to heal these things for Fae or humans who are not trained to heal the right way. I'm rereading the whole series right now and Rowan tried to heal Chaols back but couldn't heal it completley because he thought he might make it worse. So they maybe don't wanna or risk it. And I'm sure there is a reason why these two need to go there. Not just for the healing. It says that too in the description from Tower of Dawn.
(Sorry for incorrect grammar)

message 221: by Katherine (new)

Katherine | 23 comments yeah to get allies and stuff that's a different thing, anyway I think il re read them too.

Having recently finished them I feel like there are many wholes in the story and sometimes re reading helps you notice things you didn't the first time.

I really hope Elide wont have to limp for the rest of her life

message 222: by Nathalie (new)

Nathalie | 11 comments I hope that too. Maybe the healer from the Assassin's Blade comes with Chaol and Nesryn back to Aelin and she can heal Elide. When they even meet her. Which I think is a high possibility.

It's a good thing to reread them. There were many things I didn't noticed before.

message 223: by Nathalie (new)

Nathalie | 11 comments Yeah it's really crazy. And there were so many hints. Before I've reread the series I've read the Assassin's Blade and many things made so much sense during the series.
I'm on Empire of Storms at the moment.

message 224: by Katherine (new)

Katherine | 23 comments Queen of Shadows was the worst for me I don't know if il get through it a second time but the rest ok id do that

message 225: by Shania (new)

Shania | 4 comments Yeah they sent Chaol away to heal his back but he's also supposed to try to get more allies for Aelin.

message 226: by Katherine (new)

Katherine | 23 comments for me QOS was unnecessarily long and didn't have that much action as the others.

I hate the way Chaol is treated and don't buy into the whole Sorsha and Nesryn pity passes. I wish we had better closure with the boys and Aelin/Celeana.

The rest I could read again but I have to prepare myself mentally because I'm one of those people who liked Cealeana better than Aelin and even though I'm starting to be ok with the whole Rowalin thing, i found her romance with chaol much more romantic and having to read about its end (which was poorly done I'm my opinion) will be require having a chocolate cake and wine on stand by

the cunning bird in that song could be the owl whom sits watch over Maeve whom we've discovered is actually a healer.

Leanaaa | 3 comments I wanna say that Feyre and Aelin might meet thats what is getting me excited. I mean wouldnt that be awesome to have the two characters meet and just maybe Feyre and Aelin connect or ya know try to kill each other! Is book 6 the last book or is she gonna keep going?

I think this would be pretty interesting, but while their worlds are similar and obviously connected in setting, I don't know if they're closely related enough to be able to meet...Maybe they're across the planet from each other. But I heard that people think one series came historically before the other series so they don't actually live during the same timeline.

Umairah (Sereadipity) (sereadipity) | 7 comments What if the cunning owl healer helps Aelin out (I don't know why) but the owl could be on her side and secretly heal her when she is whipped or something

Can you remind me of the "owl healer" you are referring to? I honestly don't recall an owl healer.

Umairah (Sereadipity) (sereadipity) | 7 comments In Hof when Aelin meets Maeve for the first time there's an owl perched beside Maeve. In ToD it says that that owl beside Maeve is probably a fae healer with an owl form

Oh my goodness! So many small details that actually mean something. All of SJM details are so important! You never know when they are going to come up as relevant! One of the many reasons that I love SJM writing--- she plans in advance which makes the whole story come together. I love it! Thank you for reminding me of this detail!

message 234: by [deleted user] (new)

I finished the book today and found out that Maeve is a Valg queen and not really Fae! One of the biggest shocks I have read in ToD!!!!
