River pushed open the door to the Niji common room. The common rooms looked fairly similar, but she'd never been in this one before.
"Here we go," She said, waving her arm.

"So, this one is for me?" Molly asked, looking around the room. It looked welcoming, though she hadn't been worried it would be stone cold. "It's nice. And people just hang out here?"

River nodded as Bo came in after Molly. "Yeah, this is the common room. People usually hang out or study in here together. My brother always brought me to his common room for snacks."

"So they keep snacks here too," Molly said, examining how there was a little kitchen that likely had ever cabinet full of different foods. Or so she guessed.

"Just basic snack foods like chips, soda, popcorn... stuff like that," River told her with a nod. "It's pretty cool. You can get pretty much any other food in the food court."

"So the food court is for meals, right?" Molly asked, since she had read that while browsing the pamphlet on the way between buildings. "And is that difficult to find?"

Bo nodded in response to the first question.

"I don't think so," River said. "It's kind of in the middle of everything. They probably made it easy to find since everyone has to eat."

"Well that's good, not that I'm super worried about getting lost. Especially with this," Molly said, holding up the map. But then she frowned, realizing she'd already smudged it with black. She just washed her hands! There must have been a little charcoal dust left, she thought as she tried to get the smudge off.

Bo watched her curiously. "Is something wrong with it?" He asked, speaking up.

"I just got charcoal dust on it," Molly answered, frowning as she gave up. "I'm sure a damp cloth will wipe it off." Though, she didn't expect it to be so clingy.

"You can have mine," Bo told her, reaching into his folder for his own map. "I can get another one."

"Oh, thank you," Molly said, smiling at him gratefully. She didn't know how he would be able to get another one, but the two of them seemed like they had connections.

He smiled at her with a nod.

"So you have fire powers?" River said, thinking over why she'd have charcoal dust on her.

"No, uh...I um... I draw," Molly said shyly. She didn't like showing people or drawing people due to the nature of the art. "It kind of stains me."

"Oh! That makes more sense. I just assumed because there are so many different kinds of people here," River told her. "My deduction skills are getting rusty."

"I guess it's a little too normal to be expected," Molly said and laughed lightly. She hadn't seen many odd people, but she understood the nature of this school and she had a feeling she was on the normal side.

"Maybe," River said with a small laugh. "We have some similarities."

"You think?" Molly asked, wondering what River thought they were. She didn't know the other girl very well yet, but she knew that at least they would get along.

"Well you like to draw and I like to write. We're creative people," River said confidently.

"That's cool," Molly said, smiling. "What sort of things do you like to write?" Her first guess was fairy tales, but that was only because River reminded her a little of a pixie of some sort.

"I am an amateur journalist," River told her. "I like to write the truth."

"She's good at getting it. And getting into trouble," Bo commented.

"Well..." River shrugged slyly.

"That's a really interesting hobby," Molly commented, since she didn't know anyone else who did that. "And since you're starting young, you could end up a big thing later."

"Oh I will be. I've been digging up facts since before I could read," She twirled lightly as she went to look around the room some more.

"Mysteries," River said after a brief moment. "I like to give answers. It's fun to speculate. But facts make or break you."

"Have you found any here yet?" Molly inquired. She wasn't really sure how long River and Bo had been there, but maybe it was enough for one mystery.

"With the Halloween Party?" Bo asked, knowing that's when his Dad had been keeping a closer eye on him.

"With the tree, actually," River clarified. "I fell out of a tree trying to get something. Broke bones and bruised my back pretty badly. Worst week ever."

"That sounds awful," Molly said, looking mildly horrified. Though she thought for sure it would take a lot longer than a week to recover from, but maybe there was just a lot of other stuff too.
