message 105: by Cher (new)

Cher | 57 comments Hi KathyD,

Sorry for the delay. I got caught in my sister's wedding drama over last weekend. Finally, I have finalised my picks for you. I enjoyed going through your shelves. I even managed to add some books into my growing tbr list. You seem to read many kinds of genres, so it is a relief for me as I am not very familiar with historical / paranormal.
I hope you find something you would enjoy from below list

1. Recommend a book that made you smile/laugh
New Neanderthal Seeks Human. This is my personal favourite featuring an adorable book smart heroine who loves to barf random trivia facts.
TBR Checkmate. One of the best enemy to lovers trope I read so far.

2. Recommend a book with a face on the cover- bonus if the face is smiling!
New Tapping the Billionaire. Look at that smile! This is a fun and sexy read.
TBR Last Hope. A book with a face on the cover.

3. Recommend a new release that you have been waiting for, or your pickee has on their tbr/preferred shelf
New Royally Screwed I have been counting days for this book and you also seem to enjoy Emma Chase works so far, so let's give this brand new series a chance and hoping we'll get swooned by the royalties.
TBR Midnight Soul. The latest release by Kristen Ashley. I enjoyed her works and her unique writing voice. Yet, I am not into paranormal (more like I never gave it a chance), so if you decide to read this I'll be looking forward to your review on this and maybe I'll give this series a go.

4. Recommend a book written by one of your or their favorite romance authors
New Irresistibly Yours. You read Lauren Layne's first book in Stiletto series, but unfortunately did not quite like it. To her defense, it was her first book and she has gone far from then. This book is the spin-off of the Stiletto series and one of my favourite featuring a happy-go-lucky hero and a very likeable heroine. Maybe you feel like giving a chance to this author?
TBR Rock Wedding. Nalini Singh seems to be one of your favourite authors, you have read most of her books. I have seen wonderful reviews about this book, so maybe this is one of those best books that you save for last so you won't run out of good books.

5. Recommend a romance with a celebration in the story- maybe a wedding, or a honeymoon, or a ball - any life event that brings a smile
New The Beach Wedding A wedding series by Lucy Kevin (a pseudonym of Bella Aurora). I have not read this book yet but it is currently open for a giveaway, so who knows if you get lucky.
Married by Monday. You read the first book in the series and like it. The second one and the books after are enjoyable too.

6. Recommend a shorter story, one that can be read when you have a little time to yourself
TBR Easy with You. A quick sexy read.

7. Recommend a romance with a sweet, sexy, and/or swoon-worthy hero
New Six of Hearts. Great plot featuring a sweet, sexy and swoon worthy hero. It is also a bonus that he is a magician.
TBR Sustained. In this book featuring a hot defense lawyer, Emma Chase made tending 6 children to seem like a walk in the park.

8. Recommend a romance set on a tropical island, or exotic location or somewhere you would enjoy travelling to.
New The One Real Thing. Look at that cover! Looks like a holiday getaway.

Neanderthal Seeks Human (Knitting in the City, #1) by Penny Reid Checkmate (Neighbor from Hell, #3) by R.L. Mathewson Tapping the Billionaire (Billionaire Bad Boys, #1) by Max Monroe Last Hope (Hitman, #4) by Jessica Clare Royally Screwed (Royally, #1) by Emma Chase Midnight Soul (Fantasyland, #5) by Kristen Ashley Irresistibly Yours (Oxford, #1) by Lauren Layne Rock Wedding (Rock Kiss, #4) by Nalini Singh The Beach Wedding (Married in Malibu Book 1) by Lucy Kevin Married by Monday (The Weekday Brides #2) by Catherine Bybee Easy with You (With Me in Seattle, #8.5) by Kristen Proby Six of Hearts (Hearts, #1) by L.H. Cosway Sustained (The Legal Briefs, #2) by Emma Chase The One Real Thing (Hart's Boardwalk, #1) by Samantha Young

Thank you for the thoughtful picks Kait. There are so many great choices I'm worried between this challenge and other challenges that I won't see daylight. You're right, I love Jennifer Crusie quirky writing style, so I'd love to give Divorced, Desperate and Delicious a go.
I'll also read Sweet Little Lies as it fits for other challenges in October. I've also been wanting to read To Hate Adam Connor and Harry Potter and the Cursed Child for a while so hopefully I can fit these books into my reading list for this month.
From your new books recommendation, I would like to read Slave to Sensation. Once again you're right that I am not into PNR, but I have heard good words about Nalini Singh so I may give this a go.

Kait,
I read Sweet Little Lies and I loved it. I can't wait for the third books to come out next year, it's about Elle & Archer.

I just finished another pick and it was wonderful: Summer at Seaside Cove Summer at Seaside Cove by Jacquie D'Alessandro . It is definitely a great beach read --- or fall read --- or living room read---- or anywhere you are read!

On to #5 from the list! Thanks again for great picks.

So far this month I have finished

October (Calendar Girl, #10) by Audrey Carlan 10/03/16
I had plans to read this book regardless of the fact that it was recommended, I am reading each one with their corresponding month! I really am loving the series, and they are quick easy reads. It has been so hard not to just jump into the next book!

Hell on Wheels (Black Knights Inc., #1) by Julie Ann Walker 10/09/16
This book was pretty good! I like when Romance novels have multiple POVs as it really gives you all the information about both parties, I hate wondering if what one is thinking is what the other is really thinking.. lol I am not usually drawn to motorcycle novels However, this is definitely a series I want continue reading.

The Castaways by Elin Hilderbrand 10/11/16
I wanted to like this novel but I felt like it was too long and nothing really happened. It was predictable and I have read a few other books with a similar premise and they were better. Meh

Lunatics by Dave Barry 10/14/16
Hilarious!! This book was all over the place but in a good way. I probably never would have picked this one up if not recommended but it had me laughing quite a few times. I am sure it will be one that stands out among all the books I read.

I'm so glad you enjoyed that one! It was a PIFM recommendation for me in 2012 and I still remember it- so good! I'm so happy you are finding some good reads this month :)

I ended up giving up on A Ruthless Proposition by Natasha Anders due to technical difficulties with the ebook. I am glad you picked it for me and it's no longer sitting neglected on my TBR shelf.

Sandra | 712 comments Hi Shelby. Some great book's this month!

Sex, Lies & Sweet Tea (Moonlight and Magnolias, #1) by Kris Calvert - Just ok. Very drawn out and for a romantic suspense, there wasn't much suspense.
The Billionaire's Marriage Proposal (Billionaire Bachelors, #4) by Melody Anne - Loved this one. It was the best of the series so far.
Regina in the Sun (Children of the Goddess, #1) by R.G. Alexander - Not bad, but not great either. I read the next book in the series too and it didn't improve much.
AREA 51 Pucked Series Deleted Scenes & Outtakes (Pucked, #4.1) by Helena Hunting - This was just hilarious!
Stolen Kiss - Complete Series by Lucia Jordan - Some Lucia Jordan book's are great. Some not so much. This one was not so much.
Taming the Tycoon by Amy Andrews - Really enjoyed this one.
How to Flirt with a Naked Werewolf (Naked Werewolf, #1) by Molly Harper - This was great and funny. I read the other 2 book's in the series aswell.
Forever Us by Caylie Marcoe - This was very good.
Beach House Beginnings (Beach House No. 9, #0.5) by Christie Ridgway - I really enjoyed this. I read the next book too and I'm going to read the other 2 next month.
Forged in Stone (The Forged Chronicles #1) by Alyssa Rose Ivy - I loved this and read the other 2 book's too. Can't believe I was left on a cliffhanger!!! Can't wait for the next book!
Cut & Run (Cut & Run, #1) by Abigail Roux - This was great. Going to read the rest of the series.
Seduction on the Cards (Wicked in Wellington #2) by Kris Pearson - This series is great. Read more of them and still have 3 to go!
Born in Fire (Born In Trilogy, #1) by Nora Roberts - Not my cup of tea at all. Couldn't finish it. I know this is an older book and she does say that she would like to go to Ireland but has never been. It shows! Being Irish myself I find that a lot of book's set in Ireland tend to think we still live in the 1800's! I read my first Nora Robert's book a few week's ago Boundary Lines by Nora Roberts . I really enjoyed it, so I'll give Nora another go, just not this series.

Thanks for the pick's Shelby, I had a great month reading!

Kaity | 492 comments Hi Zorina! I've finished 3 picks so far and hope to finished one or two more :)

Hostage to Pleasure by Nalini Singh - <333 So glad Dorian's story was wonderful and finally has a happily ever after.

The Duke's Perfect Wife by Jennifer Ashley - Really enjoyed this one but not as much as the first three. Hart just frustrated me so much. It took him way too long to finally stop putting Eleanor in second place. I loved how much all the rest of the MacKenzie clan were in it though :D <3

Dark Lover by J.R. Ward - Thanks for suggesting this! It's been on my mental tbr forever but I just hadn't taken the plunge. Really, really enjoyed the romance and storyline. I'm not sure I'll ever get used to their names though :P

Hostage to Pleasure (Psy-Changeling, #5) by Nalini Singh The Duke's Perfect Wife (MacKenzies & McBrides, #4) by Jennifer Ashley Dark Lover (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #1) by J.R. Ward
