Newbie question......does the book 'have to' come off of one of these lists or it just has to fit the theme?..."
on the upside, at least that series is pretty awesome?
oh btw, you might want to double check with Jane before you buy, just to make sure it'll count.

There are a copy of the themes where 'optional' lists are included ~ they would work more along the lines of what you described in your post :) But that won't work this week.

Book Through These Eyes

Rating; 5 stars
Review: A very touching story!
It was great to meet Carter and Isaac (and Brady, Missy, Mark, Hannah and Carlos) again.
Just as in the first book, Carter was too good to be true. He's a saint, always patient, helpful and loving.
But Isaac, ugh, he was such a complex character. I loved him and I hated him, I wanted to smack him and then hug and comfort him! He's stubborn and obnoxious and then again so vulnerable and sad. These moments, when he really opened up to Carter, entrusted to him how desperately he wanted to see Carter and little Ada, at least once!
Well, and then Joshua came in Isaac's life and brought him hope. Hope to see again! And Isaac clung to this hope and he rejected every reasonable thought. Instead he lashed out and hurt Carter so deeply!
This book was an emotional ride for me. I smiled and laughed a lot, because their love and banter was perfect, and then again I cried so much.
A book, which left me very thoughtful about all of these things and situations, that cause a hurdle for blind people. How much confidence in themselves and trust in the people around them they need.

I haven't started my book either. I will start my book this Friday as I can use for this and another challenge that starts this Friday. Shouldn't take me long to complete mine.

I could not put it down. I loved the story, tension, and romance. Charlie with his stubbornness and Travis with his sweet patience kept me engaged. I'm looking forward to the next book in the series.

Week #1

No Going Home
Rating: ★★
Review: This was just an okay read for me. It felt a little long and drawn out. I think it would have been better if the author kept it under 200 pages. Honestly though I have never given this author more than 3 stars. Their books usually rate around 2-2.5 for me. Not sure why I don't mesh better with the author. But I am interested in Tony's story so I plan on reading book 2 anyway.

Love that series!

Week #2

A Helping Hand
Rating: ★★★★
Review: I really liked this book. Though I am usually turned off by detailed descriptions of one MC having sex with someone other than the other MC after things get sexual with them. But I wasn't really bothered about it in this book. I did feel a little weird and awkward when Jeremy confessed his love to Rich though. Poor guy. Plus it would have been nice to see a little more at the end of the book. I wanted to see Dan come out or at least look a little more comfortable with being in a relationship with Rich. Other than that it was a good book.

Week #2

Review: So this installment of Whyborne and Griffin revolves around family. The feelings they inspire, how each member has a different perspective, what does each person want from their family. This starts with Whyborne and Griffin celebrating Christmas with Whyborne's family. Yes, you guessed it - it doesn't go well except for the time they spent with Whyborne's mother. Christine sends for Whyborne to join her on her expedition in Egypt - so off Griffin and Whyborne go. Along the way we meet Christine's estranged sister Daphne. Murder is underfoot in Egypt with Christine and her group in the middle of it. An Egyptian Queen long dead wishes to make a re-appearance. We also get a visit from the Chicago Daemon who 'ate/melted' Griffins old partner. Whyborne and Griffin save the day as always. I always enjoy my time with these two and it appears maybe Christine has found her own paramour - only time will tell. I have to say, my eyes sort of glazed over with all the references to ancient Egypt and I'm sure it was just me - I skimmed these parts :) I'm hoping at some point that Whyborne gets over his feelings that "Griffin' has given up his life for him - not sure what Griffin needs to do or say for this to occur but I hope it happens soon. Looking forward to the next book

Myself and Poongothai need to post a completion post before Friday!

Week #2
Love Means... No Shame

Rating: 4 stars
Review:
This was a sweet but also very sad read!
I read this after Love Means... Courage (the story of Geoff's dads Cliff and Len), that's why the death of Cliff at the beginning of this book had me especially sad.
So, here we got the story of Geoff and Eli. Geoff, who came back from Chicago (where he had worked as an accountant during the day, while he had spent his nights with meaningless one night stands) to take over the farm when his father died and Eli, a sweet, young and innocent Amish man. Two very different men, who had found the love of their lives in each other.
I really enjoyed reading this book, even though I think I cried during the half of it.

Review:
I enjoyed this so much more than I thought I would. I had been putting it off forever. But I really really enjoyed it. I really liked how much emotion there was in and how much focus it got. Much like the book I read before this, there is a lot of sex, with a lot of people. But it's for a purpose, it's to build trust and intimacy between them. It's a form of caring for one another. And it doesn't take away from the relationship between Kendras and The Officer. It adds to it in a way. Oddly. Steel on the other hand, was delusional and I did not care for him and I was not sad with the way the book ends him. Widow grew on me, as he's supposed to. I felt so much pity for the boy king. I'm glad it ends for him how it does. I am excited to read the next book now.

Should have my review up by tomorrow.
@Calila - nice review. It's been on my tbr for a while now. I'll have to see if I can get to it some time soon

Bookcover/link : The Mad Earl's Bride
Rating (1-5) : 4
Review:
It was an interesting book funny and heartbreaking at times. Dorian knows he is going mad like his mother and has to die painfully. But his relatives decide that he has to marry and beget an heir before he completely loses his senses. Gwendolyn a nurse who wants the money and position to construct a hospital agrees to marry the lunatic.
Bertie Trent from Lord of Scoundrels adds some wit and humor to the story. The interactions between the MCs was refreshing. The plot was unusual with some medical explorations and it was an enjoyable read

Option 2 - Calila's shelves

Rating: 3.5 stars
Review: it's been a while since I read the last book so it was fun to get back to Lord Crane and Stephen's world. Lord Crane is going a little crazy still being in London and wondering when he can get away w Stephen. Life as a justiciary leaves a lot to be desired. They are working short and now it looks like their junior, Saint, is a thief. Interesting developments with Lord Crane 'coming' into his power without use of the ring. Lady Burton shows up to finish what she started in the first book. These are always light fun easy reads which is what I look forward to. I'm looking forward to see what happens next with these two. It's never dull.

Bookcover/link : Summer at Mustang Ridge
Rating (1-5) : 3
Review:
A western cowboy romance. Shelby takes a cooking job for summer at a dude ranch. She hopes the animals with help Lizzie her daughter who has Selective Mutism. The romance between the head wrangler Foster and Shelby was slow in developing and intense. It also focused on many issues like mother-daughter relation which was nice. Granny with her herman for baking was interesting. But the story was too slow.
