Hahaha. Too funny. I wish I had some read that I could review! I did appallingly in August too. I'm hoping to do better in September, though I'm inching towards requesting again, which I've actually been pretty good about lately. (Also, I'd probably wait for September, then feel really good about my accomplishment that month. lol)

I should probably be putting all of my requests in today so they're on my shelf before the start of the month rather than being added :D

OMG I just realized that I've read
by William W. Johnstone along time ago and that I actually owned a copy in paperback a while ago, but since the move back in 2011 it got lost, so I'm guessing and hoping that their going to re print it , because I need to get me a new copy, how funny is that. I loved this book when I owned a an actually copy of it.
Nicole wrote: "I only added two in August and I think I only finished 2 too. That's kinda good..."Wooow no I just looked through Netgalley for the first time in a while, and I have added so much more than 2 over the month of August. Good news, though, I rose more than I fell in percentage. Dear god.
I think I'll hope to read half a dozen books on my list, and maybe not add anymore. *closes Netgalley tab*

It's working so far, Connie!! I'm actually in the middle of two great books (one of them is
from Netgalley) so that's making it easier not to look for new reads. ^.^
Well, on the 1st I finished a book that I should have finished last month. And today I read another. I love Connie Willis's writing.

My 4th one of the month is complete. It's an oldie too, from early this year.

Ohmygosh the audiobook of that was ahmazing!!

I however keep on requesting books so now I have 16 book on my shelf and my dream of achieving at least a 80% seems nonexistent. Feeling quite discouraged so will be checking in with this thread more often!
I finished another yesterday as it was about to expire in ADE:
https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...It's a fascinating and beautiful social history.
I just posted a review for a cookbook that I finished several weeks ago but comes out next week. If you love breakfast foods, I highly recommend it. Everything I made was absolutely delicious.

Just finished
and really loved it! Review here https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...Am really not liking that the site is down for scheduled maintenance though. How am I going to get more books!
What does everyone think about the new "shelf" update? I personally like it because it somehow magically downsized the number of books that I am supposed to be reading by 10 by placing them in another category. I think that it's downloaded versus not downloaded, am I right? I also like how accessible everything is now on the new panel so that you can see your requests without too much clicking around. :)
I dunno, I kinda liked being able to see the number of books I still had to read next to Shelf. It kept me motivated. Now it's difficult to see that there's no number there because nothing stops me from requesting more books. I've already requested three new ones this morning and I know I still have 25 to read!
The only thing I don't like about it is that once you've downloaded a book you don't know when it's going to be archived. The old shelf used to tell you when it was going to be published and when it was going to be archived.

Case in point, I was approved for a book two days ago. When I glanced at my shelf yesterday it said it was archiving in 3 days. I was surprised and decided to prioritize it. Then, after browsing the site I went back to my shelf and it had changed. I would never have made that connection with the new shelf format.
At least that new book was very short and easy to get through:

Aww, I completely agree. I actually send a message to NetGalley contact peeps with this complaint about it. I doubt that they'll do anything about this bugging problem, but at least I have the assurance of having my voice hear, yeah?

Yeah everyone,Kazen is right! Let's pledge to protest the new shelves lack of archive date by sending a collective group of email complaints. If people are comfortable with this. Then we can paste NGs reply on here so that we know what their response is to our concern. Who's in?

Feed Your Readers, the NetGalley Challenge
Duration: Monthly
How to Participate:
The NetGalley Challenge is designed to not only get you to read your NetGalley books, but to also advertise your reviews for others to see because after all, that's what NetGalley is all about.
Though you may pop in/out at any time, the NetGalley Challenge will run on a monthly basis so you are able to see progress being made.
1. At the beginning of the month, post any/all of the following:
a: How many books on your NetGalley shelf
b: What books are on your NG shelf
c: What your Netgalley feedback ratio is
2. During the month, read the NetGalley books that you can AND update your post with your reviews. (You can do this after each book or wait until the end of the month.)
3. At the end of the month, update your post and with:
a: What books you read
b: Link(s) to your review(s)**
c: Your updated shelf count
d: Your updated books to read
e: Your updated ratio
Then start a new post for the next month!
Do you ever get so caught up in your reading that you don't want to stop to write your reviews?
Thinking about that, it was decided we need a "Review Weekend", once each month, set aside to write those reviews you've been not doing in favor of reading!
Review Weekends will vary randomly each month and is meant to be a time set aside to review. Take one, or both days and get caught up on reviews so you can spend the rest of the month reading!!
The next Review Weekend is set for September 16th & 17th
**When linking your reviews, please link only to the book(s) here at GoodReads. At this time, linking to a personal blog is not allowed. Thank you!
