“Get in!” She shouted.

He blinked when she shouted but then hesitantly gathered his stuff and got in the car.
“Do you want to go to work or not?” She sighed. “Cause I’ll just take you home”.
He shrugged and said, “you know, I have a wife.”
She paused. “What?” She looked at him.
“Elian..I’m your wife.” She said quietly.
“Oh,” he said, rubbing the back of his head confusedly. “That’s nice,” he said. “I have kids, too,” he said matter-of-factly. “But you know that, right?” He smiled pleasantly.
“Elian.” Tears gathered in her eyes.
He didn’t respond, not really realizing he’d said something wrong as he opened his sketchbook again.
She inhaled a shaky breath and drove Elian home.
He didn’t talk very much, though he did ask where they were going three times because he had forgotten.
Natalia silently cried as she drove home. She pulled into the driveway. "Follow me inside." She said quietly.
“Okay,” he said. “What’s wrong?” He asked her as he opened the door but he didn’t get out.
“This is your home. You live here.” She said. She went into the kitchen and opened the medicine cabinet.
He looked around smiling as though he knew. “What a lovely place,” he observed. “And you live here with me?” He asked, hopeful.
She just nodded. “With our children,”
“That’s nice,” he smiled and looked around before she took a seat on the couch.
She took out a bottle of pills that was only used for emergencies. She crushed two up. "Do you want a drink?" She asked hopefully.
“What kind?” He asked, sitting up a little.
"Whatever you want. Water, juice, coffee." She said.
SHe nodded and put the crushed pills at the bottom of a glass of orange juice.
He waited, grabbing his sketchbook again.
She brought his juice over to him.
“Thank you,” he said pleasantly and sipped it.
She went to clean the kitchen that didn’t need to be cleaned.
After a while, he followed her to the kitchen to set the glass in the sink.
She sniffled and moved away from him.
He looked at her confusedly, “What’s wrong?” He asked.
He stared at her until his phone chimed. He took it out and read his reminder, “pick up Amelia and Alexi.”
"I can get them." She said softly.
"I think you should stay here and rest." She said gently.
“Just stay here okay?” She sighed. “I need to...I need to think.”
“Why don’t you lag down?” She asked.
Elian nodded and left to the living room to lay down.
She rubbed at her eyes and tried not to stare crying.
He laid down on the couch with his sketchbook, flipping through it.
